Has anyone ever seen the "Lennon Room" at the Hard Rock Cafe? We had the coolest little private tour!
DH and DS got to talking to somebody at the HRC one night about guitars & general rock n roll. Guy told them if they come again to ask for a tour of this room. Well, we did go back, the next night (cause we love it there) and asked. All the waitresses "weren't sure" about it, etc. Then a guy stops by our table and asks us to come with him. Coolest guy, by the way. A professional "Rock Dude," as listed on his business card. My boys, 12 and 15, were in awe of him! He talked to them til our food got cold.
So we got this nice little private tour. They have a great collection of John Lennon stuff that they keep in this room, including a suit, a wicker couch (complete with holes), self-portraits, notes. Also a piano (not Lennon's) with each key signed by every great rock pianist you can think of.
We also got a peek into the concert hall during some kind of set-up. There was a stairway leading up there from that room.
Definitely one of those unplanned highlights of our trip. My pictures are, sadly, pretty crappy, but let me see if I can dig up a few good ones.
But if you are at all into the Beatles and visit the Hard Rock in Universal, definitely ask. I think the guy is happy to give tours if he's available and if you ask. Hopefully I'm not wrong about that!
