In your experience, what bar soap is the least "scummy"?

And for the record, Irish Spring is terrible!

I use homemade goatsmilk soaps. They are great for your skin, they don't dry out my face, they're moist, they smell awesome, and they're fairly cost effective at $3.75 per bar. Whenever we go to Tarpon Springs in Florida I like to pick them out myself. When that's not an option, I order them.

Here is where I order mine from. Scroll down to goatsmilk soap and choose your scent.

They feel so luxurious and I have not noticed any of the scummyness that comes from regular store bought bars.

I haven't used bar soap in a while....yes I do use soap, but liquid!! Lever 2000? 3000? Something like that.

My Grandfather always used Irish Spring...I always wanted to carve it like they did in the commercial. :rotfl: *AKL Megs, you are way too young to remember that*

I haven't used bar soaps in a while, but when I did I liked Dove (the white package with the cucumbers on it).

I now use a great scented liquid organic soap. It smells like lavender and never dries out my skin, or makes me feel 'scummy'. Sorry you have that problem, it sounds not so nice.

Ivory Soap. It's the only one I use. Every other bar leaves some kind of residue and I can't stand it. :headache: Even the ones with lotion or moisturizers are horrible. I want to feel clean, and then put on my own lotion & moisturizers.

Well right now I have some specialty bars I'm using but when I don't have those I use Dove with the cucumber on the package. :) It leaves so scum behind and works great!

Lush makes some great soaps and they have lots of different scents. They are a little pricey, but if you keep the soaps out of the shower when they aren't in use they'll last a while. My favorite is Honey, I Washed the Kids. It says on the site it smells like toffee, I don't really think so. It's definitely a yummy scent though and not over powering. They have tons and tons of scents to choose from so take a peek!: http://www.lushusa.com/shop

I only use bar soap. I just don't feel clean after using body wash. We use Lever 2000 and I never feel 'scummy'.

whatever you do, DON'T buy ivory! ivory bar soap leaves the thickest soap scum on my tub i've ever seen. pure my big, white behind! our daughter uses softsoap body wash, and her tub still looks as new and clean as it did the day we installed it, while DH and i use ivory bar soap and no matter how hard, how often, or what we scrub it with, the soap scum will NOT go away. i hate it, it looks terrible and i'm ashamed for anyone to see it. oh, and our tub and DD's were installed the same day, same brand and style, just a different color (beige for hers, off-white for ours). i've always used ivory, and have very sensitive skin, so i'm not sure switching soaps is an option.

ITA!! I love love love LUSH! Definitely not soap scummy at all.

I agree on glycerin types....and they usually come in nicer fragrances.

Oh yeah.......I LOVED the guys in those commercials too, just something about them, carved soap and the water springs :worship:.

The Body Shop makes wonderful glycerin soaps! I also love LUSH products.

I totally agree with this! I hate Ivory soap. It leaves a trail of white soap scum floating on the water.

I use body wash, but DH uses Dove bar soap. I like Dove best and Lever 2000 second best if I use bar soap.

We move around a lot. We have found that different soaps feel different depending on where we live. Our best guess is that the water effects it :confused3(some places have really hard water, the soap that worked with a water softener was very different than what worked in hard water, which was different the hardness came from calcium and not iron, etc; we figured that maybe some soaps work great in "softened" water and others react well with lyme deposits, etc but we have no idea if that is really the reason).

I want to say that we used Lever 2000 in Livonia--I know I used to buy big blocks of it at Costco and that is where i lived closest to a Costco so I think it was there.
