Okay. Thanks. I can honestly say that I don't have any informal nieces then. I don't have any ex-Girl Friends that I know of. :rotfl:

Keep it that way and your DH will be happy I'm sure.

I've never known anyone that I could have said should have been on Jerry Springer thankfully!

I don't look forward to the day I'm explaining to DS that on that side his grandpa is not actually his grandpa.

Hey funny girl.

Its the same with boys. I'm sure I was spending more money on clothes for DS before he started school.

I don't object to buying uniform...I just don't relish the thought of forking out $$$$$ for them.

And should enquiring minds ask what sort of outfits you prefer??? Or is this one of those...back.away.quickly. moments?

What about books? DS is currently in the PS system in Oz. We pay a fairly nominal school fees; and then there is the building fund, the excursion fund and the book fund. I think we're up for about $65 for books and basic supplies such as a box of Kleenex and a USB stick (per child).

I'm pretty sure the school funds the marker pens, hand sanitizers and wipes from this book fund bucket as well. Although, the school has gone totally electronic white boards as well.

Last year, we got to the last semester and I got a message from the teacher that I needed to go get a couple of exercise books for DS. I was real mad...because the book fund was meant to cover the whole year. This year, we didn't even make it to half year when I got the message that DS needed more pencils. :headache:

You know it seems if you have to buy the book, I wonder if he had like kindle or one of the other cheaper ones if the books are available on the readers? At least it may be cheaper on amazon for a download.

I grew up when it was all the rage to wear pants that you couldn't zip up unless you were laying down. I was skinny skinny and nothing like I look like now! I think that gals today go out in their underwear far too often, but that may only be a Long Beach phenomena.

I'm sure it has helped. I didn't have the drug problem the mom did or does.

Sorry, it's good the ex hubby and I held off on kids. I hear through friends he's sober now, but not before contracting HIV, so he would not have been a very good parental role model. He told s mutual friend that his relationship with me was the most normal he ever had. Funny because he ranks among my most dysfunctional! :lmao:

So you are saying girls should wear underwear less often? Is that because they like to wear it so other people can see it?

No, I'm just sayin they should wear normal clothes over their underwear and not just their underwear out in public. To many gals go out in camisloes that barely qualify as underwear and that's all they are wearing.

It's interesting the whole who pays for what in schooling. It seems to change through different governments and schools and generations.
I went to catholic, public and private schools so I can't remember exactly how the public worked. But I remember basically supplying your own stationery and books...I think.....not sure....
Certainly I remember buying my own textbooks. But that may have mainly been for private school times?

I remember one school you were issued a pack with your years books and so on...

I totally understand what you are saying re uniforms PIO...lol...
I felt guilty as I started to realise is how much they cost...but I still think it better having the uniform.

One interesting thing is here your school blazer at private schools becomes your banner of achievements. When you top something or win something you can get an embroided section under the pocket. So often kids get given an oversize blazer when they start if only for that function. But it can save money too.....given that blazer is $$$$$$

now I'm thinking back. I always needed a binder. In 2nd grade colored pencils, in 1st crayons. Later some note books.

In high school I brought a note book for each class.

I never got a lettermans jacket. They were fairly expensive though not really compared to my ski jackets. Just not real common at my school when I went. And certainly not free even when I recieved a letter for a sport.

The blazer wasn't free....to anyone...
Every student is required to have a school blazer. It's just so people can maintain the same blazer for longer so the achievements all build up on the one blazer the parents would often buy a bigger one.
My point was though that like with anything...getting something a bit big to grow into saves money too.

As for if you got awarded with something...you still had to pay for it to be embroided on... :rolleyes1

This was all at one of the top private school girls that I spent my last two years at. The other private I went to had a similar blazer type but not as nice...

I see so you were more saying some people got a big one to last the whole time, some bought two.

Yeah sort of.

I agree with you on ski jackets though. If I was able to ski more often I'd get a more expensive ski jacket but I got mine on sale which is pretty good.

Really want a Ripcurl one...yes...just for the name...

Ripcurl the surfing company makes ski jackets?

Is that so it's more Oz appropriate?

I'm not sure that it is so it is more Oz appropriate. and yes...the surf brand company which began in Victoria Australia does make ski gear...
If it were to be for our conditions it would have more vents I suppose...although you spend half the time in blizzards too usually...

They are pretty good actually.

What brand do you have? I'm planning to buy my helmet in Colorado which we are there. But I might consider ski clothing if it is a good price. My Mambo one I do like and it certainly does the job. But I'm a sucker for winter clothing...Even though you can hardly wear it in Oz before melting

I have a few Mountain Hardwear coats that I primarily wear. When they were new they were very high quality and made in the US. But as they expanded they made them in China and Vietnam. Which is a usual trend.

Also I have Carhart though it isn't for skiing. Patagonia and an old Columbia that was really nice and has held up very well.

I have a couple pairs of Comlubia ski pants one is very nice and super old, one the same style but much newer. And some burton pants which are ok but falling apart from skiing in them. The ankles can't take the abuse of being rubbed by skis.

I'm sure you will find a deal if you shop in Denver. Not in the ski town you go to.
