The last time I saw Fantasmic....

Was in 1993. I won't even do the math because it will only make me feel old. Anyway, back then we scoured a place along the bank of the Rivers of America a couple of hours before the show, spread out a blanket, and sat and waited. OR, left some of our party to hold our place, ran to ride POTC or HM, and came back to wait. After reading some of the recent descriptions, I am wondering - has this changed? Do people still sit or does the crowd stand the whole time? Is a couple of hours ahead enough time to get a reasonable seat/spot??
I was not aware of the dessert seating thing if they had it back then (which I don't believe they did) but I think it is kind of pricey, especially since we have six in our party. I want to just do it "old school," but not if the "rules" have changed since tried it last......

you can still do it the same old way...now some people have searched the area and found some places that they didnt have to wait forever but Im still old school and do it the original way to guarantee a good seat...they did do the preferred seating back then but it was high atop the gallery and you could only fit like 15 people...you had to wait at the guest services window outside the park like at 6am the morning of the performance and pray to god if anyone was in front of you that they werent taking all the spots so you just come back and do it the way you always did

Thanks SOOO much!! I am totally wanting my kids to think I know what I am doing, LOL! I would hate for them to find out that I wouldn't know anything without this board....

Are there not seats for F like there are at WDW? (not including the ones you have to pay for). I just assumed it would be a big ampitheater like at WDW.

No, no ampitheater. Just the ground and maybe some benches and tables with partial views. DL has no room to put in a ampitheater.

We just watched Fantasmic on Friday and we had an awesome spot! Right behind the main control tower with lights is a great spot to watch it from. You can show up about 30-45 minutes ahead of time and stand along the railing there. People don't think you will be able to see because of the lights in the way, but they rise up right before showtime to give you a dead center sopt to view the show! Try it.

I was at Fantasmic last night and noticed people saving spots at 3:00 in the afternoon for a 9:00 show!!!!

We did the dessert seating and it was worth every penny. Especially after 14 hours of walking around the parks.

When we were there we got a great spot for the late show after the fire works. Right in front, a few rows back from the water. Everyone was seated and stayed seated throughout the show, even though I did see one bloke trying to get his group to stand up with him
But everyone stayed put and it was great.

I love getting an early spot for Fantasmic!! That's a tradition for me and my family to do at least one day while we are there.

I always bring a large blanket. Not too huge but big enough to seat 6. For the 9:00 show I can usually set it up around 5:30 or so and still get practically front and center seating.

From then until around 7 or 7:30, DH and I will take turns sitting on the blanket and resting/people watching, and taking the kids on nearby rides.

Then around 7:30, I'll sit down and keep the kids with me, while he goes to pick up something for dinner. We'll eat, visit, talk, play cards, the kids color, etc until the show starts. The time actually flies by for us.

And then it's showtime and we have a great spot to see it the whole show and the fireworks afterwards.
We do it every time and I love it!
