I hope to complete my purchase sometime next week if the seller gets papers back to settlement agent. Argh this is frustrating. pirate:

Anyway on too my question. How do you get assigned a Vacation Club Guide?

Is it the guide who was assigned to the owner you purchase from or are you assigned a new guide when your papers are finalized at DVC? :confused3

I looked into purchasing direct from DVC and was speaking with George Rey a Vacation Club Guide will he continue to be my Guide? Should I contact him and let him know I purchased resale? :confused3

Sorry just trying to get my ducks in a row so when I am official DVC I are ready to roll on all this pre official planning I have been doing the last two months. :surfweb:

Thanks in advance

Joe

I hope this gets settled for you really really soon! You are at the top of my list of favorite DIS members!!!:thumbsup2

I had a guide for years before I ever purchased DVC. My first purchase was also resale and he continued to be my guide.

"Guide" is a fancy name for timeshare salesman. My purchases were via resale - I have no idea if Disney has assigned me a guide or not. But I feel no loss for not having my very own personal timeshare salesman. If I ever want to purchase points directly from Disney, I'm sure I can call up and find someone to sell them to me.

Agree with salmoneous - there's really no need to have any interaction with a guide until/unless you want to add on. If you call the Sales group about an add on, they will quickly let you know who your guide is - I suspect it is the person you first talked to about DVC.

If the "pre official planning" you mentioned is about your future DVC vacations, a guide can't help you anyway. As soon as you are in the computer system (about a week or so after closing, give or take a few days), you can call Member Services and make a reservation, subject to the booking rules and availability.

Hope to "officially" welcome you home very soon.

We were informed that if you ever took a tour or discussed purchased with a guide / salesperson, then that is your contact. If you just spoke to someone at one of the info desks all around WDW, then you may not have a guide yet.

It is, in fact, pretty hard to change this assigned guide and you would have to speak with a manager and tell the manager why you dont want to deal with that person and get the manager to agree.
We had a very bad, high pressure guide / salesperson at first and we had to tell the management of DVC that we would not buy unless they changed our guide.

I agree. There is no need to worry about a sales guide unless you wish to add on right away. In all likelihood, your guide you spoke with before will continue to be your guide. Over the last 14 years, we have had 5 different guides. All assigned and changed by Disney at their whim. Some have been excellent and have called us with all kinds of info, and some have been totally silent. Our current one contacted us after I inquired of him about AKV. Other than that, we have not had any other contact with him, nor do we expect to.

In a resale situation, you will be given a new guide. Guides are assigned to members based on geographical location of the new member. DVC has always recruted sales staff from around the country to be able to semi match reps from a area with members from the same.
