Well, it's the end of an era... I got my final Disney Magazine in the mail this afternoon. I discovered the Disney Mag in 2001 and I've really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful last issue, though. It has alot of info about Disneyland and the 50th celebration. Sure will be a little empty without some of the parks coming into my home ever so often :cloud9: Farewell Disney Magazine!

Did you receive any info. on receiving a refund for future issues? :confused3

Yep ... last issue. I'm going to take the outer jacket it came in and mail to Disney corp. in Burbank with "This Sucks" inscribed on it.

They are offering subscriptions to "Disney Adventures" or "Family Fun" to DM suscribers.

I hope the "Family Fun" magazine offered starts to carry more Disney info .... I'm really bummed out that they are taking something away again. I don't care how much info I get from the internet, I still love holding and reading the Disney magazine with own hands and eyes!

Chuck, I have to totally agree with you. There's nothing like holding a bit of Disney magic in your hands! I'll miss the letters to the editor feature and the recipes and spotlights on Disney restaurants. Thank goodness for the DIS.

Yes, I received an offer for Disney Adventures or Family Fun. Thought I'd try Disney Adv since I figure Family Fun is alot like Parents Magazine. If you've had Family Fun Magazine and found it more worthwhile than Disney Adv., do let me know! I'm waiting til the end of June to send in my request. But it's just not the same

I'm very sad to see this go. :sad2:
I have always looked forward to getting this in the mail. It was a great Disney fix. If this is due to budget cuts (which it must be) couldn't they have found something else to cut?
I'll be taking the refund. I do not have children, so I don't think the other magazine will have the same Disney magic for me.

I had no idea about this! They just sent me a renewal notice! What is THAT all about!?!?

I am totally disgusted. We also have no kids and have no use for the other magazines. If it's about money, (and with Disney it always seems to be lately) raise the subscription price!!! I'll post again later.

Depressed in Erie,

I posted on the other thread, too. But I will restate that I am also very very sad and disappointed. My girls (11 & 12) like reading the Disney Adventures magazine, but it is in no way on par with the Disney Magazine. I guess they're offering Family fun to the adults and Adventures to the kids?

And where is MY latest issue? I haven't received it yet...When did everyone else get theirs?

Is there a web site/story that talks about the magazine being cancelled, an Official Statement from Disney?

Wait...I'm looking through the Winter issue now and p 54 there is a full page ad to subscribe to the magazine. I'm calling now.....Recorded voice is telling me if I want to transfer my Disney Magazine subscription to another magazine to do so on the card enclosed in the magazine.
holding....holding...
Okay, Blanca just gave me the run-down and she said everyone is sad about their not publishing the magazine anymore and I told her how we're feeling here on the DIS. She said she will pass it along. She also said they were not told the reason why they are folding.......
I got Family Fun. Hopefully, like another poster said, they'll add more DIS to their mag.

I think times are looking up at Disney - they are getting their crowds back and now they can dump all the people who stood by them even in the slow times.

Disney Club was a tremendous loss - I was a member since it first started. Disney Visa doesn't come close to giving the deals you got with the Disney Club.

Now Disney Magazine, another great thing for those who love Disney is being tossed out.

I'm getting very upset with Disney and I have been a very loyal customer with months and months of time spent at their resorts. My house is loaded with Disney stuff.

Also from my recent trips to the parks the lines are getting extremely long, they are removing some of the more popular "classis" or replacing them with trashy updates.

The new fad is Character Meals - the one really nice place to eat lunch at the Magic Kingdom was the castle - now that is a character lunch. I guess I have to live at EPCOT.

My children (grown up with families) have recently told me that they are not so sure they want to go to WDW in the future - some of them have stayed off-property with many trips to other places the last time they went to Orlando and were pleased with the cheaper prices and accomodations at least as good as WDW. These kids have been going to WDW since they were 4 years old - every other year. I fear I see a trend - I hope someone at Disney hears the whispers going around and put Disney back on track before it is too late.

My 2 cents - and I hope management at Disney reads it.

One thing to note...we got our DVC newsletter the same day at the Disney Mag and to me at least, it seemed almost double in size and offered a lot more info on the parks as well as the new stuff at the Disney DVC resorts...maybe (and I am not saying that this makes up for those who are not DVC members) that they are making some sort of an effort to make up for the loss...my Dad is sooooo mad though...absolutely furious...I think what I hate the most is that there was no warning...no goodbye issue, no reminising on the part of the Disney mag...just bammm...goodbye! And as far as money goes...this is just about the most expensive quarterly magazine I have ever seen! There circulation numbers cannot possibly be that bad can they???

I have not received the last issue, and I should have about 3-4 years left on my subscription. Is there someone I can call to check on this? I am really unhappy about this.... :sad2:

I was really sad about this. I have been subscribing since 1993. Wasen't the magazine around since the 1950's???!!! It used to be Disney News then changed to The Disney Magazine. WHAT are they thinking? The post office/mail carriers say they deliver 3 times as many Disney Mags as Family Fun/Disney Adventures. :guilty: :confused3
