The Lady and Sons Restaurant in Savannah - question

I'm going to be in Hilton Head in a few weeks and was interested in going to Savannah for a day. I really enjoy Paula Dean's cooking show on The Food Network, and I know she has a restaurant in Savannah called "The Lady and Sons."

Has anyone eaten there before? Would you recommend it?

Sorry..no I have not eaten there before. Tried to get there Christmas 2002 (niece lives in Savannah), but they were booked. Then I found out she cooks everything in peanut oil...oops! Son is allergic to peanuts/peanut oil.

I have a client from Savannah and she has eaten there. She says it is wonderful!! I love her show and use Food Network.com and print her recipes. Never a bad one yet! She is quite a lady, with spunk and a big story to share. I hope you are able to go. I would LOVE to!! good luck!!

GO if you can. I was in HHI this past week and could not go because DIL did not want to. We stopped at a rest stop on 95 in South Carolina about 2 hours outside of HHI. I was talking to the woman there behind the counter and asked her about this restaurant. She said that all of her friends have gone and have absolutely loved it. She said that she wants to go soon. I would love to go there someday soon as well. There is a website for this restaurant and the food looks great! I love her cooking show as well. Her show and the Barefoot Contessa are my favorites on the cooking channel.

No, but I'd love to try it out sometime. I love to watch Paula Dean's show on Foodtv. I've tried some of her recipes and they're great. I bet they're even better if she fixes them.

Never been, but did you'll happen to see the "Paula Dean Wedding" on the Food network awhile back....She had her wedding at the restaurant. It looked nice. Try to Catch that episode if it comes on again!

I haven't eaten there yet. The last two times we were in Savannah, they were lined up down the street to get in. I think it's a very popular place to eat. It looks really nice. Good luck and let us know how it was.

The girl must by butter by the ton!!!

I hope you get to visit her restaurant.. have a big bite of something gooey for me!! LOL

Don't know -- but I would recommend Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House -- I swear that is the best meal I ever had 16 years ago (boy I'm getting old!) I remember it was in a private home on a street without even a sign, we kept knocking on doors and they kept pointing us in the right direction.

My in-laws have a condo in Savannah - they have eaten there several times and LOVE IT. DH was just in Savannah for a trade show last week and tried to go there for lunch, but there was an hour and a half wait and he had to get back to show.

Thanks everybody! I'll definitely give the restaurant a try, and I'll report back. I hope the line isn't too long, because my Dad has a fit if he has to wait anywhere for more than 10 minutes. MEN!

Mrs. Wilkes restaurant also looks great. Maybe I'll have to make two trips to Savannah!

We ate there last year on our way home from our cruise via Hilton Head and a few other places. The food was DELICIOUS!!!!!! and very much worth it. Make sure you make a reservation or you probably will have quite a wait. The fried chicken is awesome and the green beans were just like my grandma use to make them - brought back some great memories. And the desserts!!!! OMG - awesome! Make sure you are hungry!

ME ME ME!!! I'VE BEEN! It's my favorite restaurant in Savannah. Last time I went was on a business trip and we had reservations at 5 pm (when they opened) and there was a line out the door already! Definitely worth the trip!
