We have always been a Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure family...but DH talked me into a new adventure this year. Well when AAA sent us the free dining offer...we began to talk about it. I realized that the offer lasted until October 3, 2009. Well where we live in North Carolina, our schools are year round. (Kids go to school 9 weeks and then have a 3 week break) Well our first break is September 26, 2009. So we could go to Disney our first week of break, the last week of free dining AND Sunday, September 27 is DH birthday! Talk about LOTS of :tinker:!!! So April 15, 2009 I called Barbara Abate at AAA and she got right to work! The next day...we paid for 1/2 the trip!!! I started thinking...maybe we shouldn't tell the kids...what would happen if something came up, or someone got sick, or maybe a hurricane in Florida. We decided to keep this trip a secret. I started talking to DH and we just couldn't let it go down without a BIG SURPRISE....so we set it up. My DH mother lives in Georgia. It takes about 6.5 hours to get to her house. We decided to take the kids out of school on Friday at 12:30 on Sept. 25th and they believe that we are headed to grandma's! We have decided to pull off at the Florida state line and let them get a look around and realize we aren't in Georgia. We have little envelopes made up for both children...each contain a AAA luggage tag from Disney, a Disney gift card, a map to Pop Century, and a piece of paper that says...HERE IS YOUR TICKET TO DISNEY! I plan on videotapping the entire reveal! Needless to say...keeping this HUGE secret for the last 4 months has been very hard. But we have managed. So, now we start our last full week at home...very busy week, lots to do. Trip is completely paid for...tickets to MNSSHP have been paid for! Called the AAA agent and got our base ticket upgraded to Park Hoppers! So the adventure is coming...I can hardly wait!

Yay!! What a great surprise! I wish I could keep it a secret for my kids but I get to excited!! Can't wait to tag along on your adventure.:goodvibes

A wrench has been thrown into the mania of getting ready to go. Sunday night I found out that the twin girls in my daughter's second grade class have officially been diagnosed with H1N1.:scared1: UGHH!!! So needless to say my daughter stayed home today. She was exposed on Friday...according to the CDC it takes about 1-4 days to show symptoms. Tomorrow is day 4 and so far so good. I can only pray that she stays healthy. :confused3 We may just decide to keep her home this entire week. I am afraid of the other students in the classroom that have gotten the H1N1 and haven't gotten the symptoms yet, and sending her to school will only expose her again. So the yardwork is done, inside of the car is cleaned, some of the packing has been completed.:banana: Tomorrow the car is being serviced and the exterior washed. Finishing up the housework, and getting the luggage down from the attic! I can't believe we are only 4 days away!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

I hope your dd doesn't get sick.
I had the flu over the fourth of July and it made me extremely tired more than anything.
Have your dd keep washing her hands, send purell along with her to school, if you send her back. I pretty sure I would keep my dd home too. I could just see myself walking into the school with a mask on and gloves, trying to pick up homework.

Seriously, I really hope things will be fine and have a great time at WDW.

What a cute family you guys are!

We surprised our 12 year old son with a trip to Disney last year. He thought we were going on a road trip with no real destination in mind. 800 miles later, we told him we were going to Disney World!

I know what you mean about it being hard to keep a secret. We had to keep our secret for about a month and a half and I almost slipped up several times.

I'm looking forward to reading about all of your plans.

:scared1: Keep her home! ... I totally would ... although that may make the secret a little harder to keep. As for homework, I am sure that they can email something couldn't they?:confused3

Well today was very productive for getting ready to go. My car is being serviced, my cell phone was replaced today, and I picked up a few odds and ends we needed. We kept DD home again today. I went to the school and no one else in her class is sick. As far as I know it looks ok! She may go back tomorrow provided that the child with H1N1 hasn't returned! Tonight is more housework, picking up the car, finishing up last minute school activities, and PTA meeting. Tomorrow is the official PACKING day!! I can't believe we are here! WOOHOO!!!!

We are home and I am working on my trip report and downloading photos! Just a couple of quick notes. We absolutely LOVED MNSSHP! What fun that was. Just very crowded. Also one bad thing...I did laundry at Pop Century laundry, and someone stole several pieces of my husbands clothing. So if you chose to do laundry there I would say stay there while you are doing laundry...do not leave your clothes unattended. :(

Yay for the holloween party! Our neighbours will be there on halloween night...I guess if you found it crowded they will for sure as it is sold out. That's too bad about your DH's clothes. I hope that it didn't effect your trip too badly.

Looking forward to reading all about your trip!
