Cast: Me, Kelli, just turned 40, Disney nut and major planner.
DH, Stephen, also 40, puts up with my Disney obsession, loves it almost as much (just wont admit it.)
Monday September 24
From here on it gets a little fuzzy. Even on the way home, I couldn't remember what exactly we did. We really relaxed. So much so that I didn't take notes like I did the previous week. Anyway, here goes.
Today we headed to MGM. The Hat was open for business!!! We were some of the first people inside it. It was great.
From there we did WWTBAM. DH almost got to the hotseat, but missed the last question, again. From here we did the Animation Tour. I had been a long time since we'd seen this. It was fun, and informative. We enjoyed watching the animators work on Lilo and Stitch. We wandered around MGM for awhile, then headed to AK to eat at Rainforest Cafe. I had another $25 GC from rewards. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. The food was good. I had a wrap, but couldn't eat it all, so they wrapped it in foil for me to take.
We left there and headed to MK to see if they were going to preview the Share a Dream Come True parade. We staked out a spot outside of Pecos Bills. They did, and I loved it. It's one of the best parades I've seen in the daytime. It truly captures the magic. Here are a few pics.
As you can see, I loved this parade. I have the picture of Mary Poppins on my desktop. She looked right at me and posed so I could take that picture.
We loaded the train in Frontier Land, and rode to Mickey's Toon Town Fair. We had never seen this, so thought it might be a good diversion. It was a diversion, and that's all.
From there we walked through Mickey's Star Traders and had a great converstation with a CM from New York City. He was the same age as one of our DDs. He was there on the college program, but already had a job with WDW when he graduated. He said the pay right now was lousy, but he never once wakes up and hates to go to work. He what a true CM is all about.
After our refreshing converstation, we took a spin on Space Mountain. BTW, the crowds are still non-existent. From there we headed to Buzz. I have lost track at this time how many times we have ridden Buzz.
We went to Epcot from here to catch Illuminations again. I don't remember where we ate, but I do remember another Kaki Gori. We sat between the two stores at the entrance to WS. The position was good. This was the first time we saw the Earth come onto the lake. We waited for the crowds to die down, then headed for the bus. We sat next to a family who told us that their little girl spent two or three hours with a number of princesses last week. I don't remember where they were (somewhere in MK, on Main Street, where you can catch characters), but since it was so empty, their daughter was the only one there. The princesses played hide and seek with her, and read books, and just played. Their DD thinks that's the way it always is. Later that day, their DD saw one of the princesses, and she remembered her name, and gave her treat, and introduced her to the crowd. What a magical moment for this little girl.
We we got back to the VWL, we grabbed a snack in the store, and headed to our room To our surprise, our friends from the bus were on our floor. We saw their very unique stroller outside their door. Exhausted and happy, we crashed. It was about 10:30.
Tuesday, September 25 (if you read this before, you'll see that it has changed. I told you that this week was a little fuzzy, and this proves it. So, day 12 was actually day 13. This is the correct day 12, sorry)
Initially, this was to be our going home day, but we were now staying till Friday. We checked out of the Wilderness Lodge, after doing some shopping in the gift shop, and then decided to tour the MK resorts.
We started by taking the boat to the TTC, and then the monorail to the Contemorary. We got off there and toured the main lobby and peeked into Chep Mickey's. We wandered around the grounds a bit. I like this resort, but DH thought it was too futuristic.
From there we hopped onto the monorail and headed to the Poly. We wandered around here for quite some time. We loved the grounds, but weren't too impressed with the lobby area.
After that we headed over to the Grand Floridian. All I can say is, "Wow!" This resort is beautiful. I could have stayed in the lobby all day just admiring the architecture. We wandered out to see the Wedding pavilion, but a couple were having their pictures taken in the wedding garb, so we couldn't get really closed. As beautiful as this resort is, I don't think we'd like staying here. It seemed a little too stuffy for us westerners.
From there we headed to MK for lunch. I wanted to try the fixin' bar at Pecos Bill, but DH was more in the mood for tacos. We compromised. I got a great hot dog at Pecos, and loved the sauteed mushrooms and onions, picked up McD's french fries on the way to the taco place. Found a table, then DH went and got meal. It was quite eclectic, but it was good.
From there we headed back to WL to get our car, and then to OKW to get our room. We knew nothing about this resort, because the decision to stay here was so last minute. Had I known more, we'd have picked a different room. The CM who checked us in gave us a ton of choices. We chose a room that she said you could see DTD. It was very far from the entrance, ie. store and Olivia's. But, it was very near a bus stop.
The room was big and roomy, and had comfy beds. We waited for our luggage (we had it sent from WL so we didn't have to lug it all ourselves). I took a quick nap, while DH watched a little TV.
From there we took the boat to DTD. I really liked this ride. It was relaxing, and cool.
We ate dinner at Planet Hollywood. I don't remember what I had, but it was good. The one thing I didn't like was the attendant in the bathroom. The bathroom was very small, and she was there giving lotion, and drying hands. I didn't take in my purse, so I had no tip. It was a little embarrassing.
Anyway, we just wandered around DTD. I purchased a great MM watch with money I received for my birthday. We took the boat back to OKW and collapsed for the night.
Our only problem with our room was a light that shined through the peephole right into our eyes. I covered it with a bandaid, and all was well.
