I've been watching this story about the family who survived in the Oregon wilderness all week. I'm so sorry that the father didn't make it. I can't believe the mom was able to help those little girls to survive for so long! What heroes they all are!

I know, I was so sad to hear the news about the dad yesterday. :( That poor family.

Thank you for thinking of them. I am a member of one of the search and rescue teams who were on that search. I can't disclose any information that was not on the news, but it's been a tough week here, and I appreciate that others are thinking of the family. :grouphug:

My family and I leave for WDW in a few days, and it's been hard to be excited for the trip (and feels petty) after being involved in this all week. Very difficult.

This story has had me so sad all week. I am so sorry to hear about the father. It was amazing that Mrs Kim helped her children survive by Breastfeeding the two of them.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family....

Thank goodness she had been nursing the younger one. I wonder if it would have turned out differently if she had been bottle feeding instead. My prayers go out to the family also. What a tragedy.

I know that you probably feel guilty for going on a vacation after what you just went through, but maybe some time away from the situation will do you some good, and you can take the time to reconnect with your family and be thankful for the blessings you have... None of us knows how long we'll be around, just enjoy the time we're here!!

I am just so impressed at the family's survival skills and ability to think so carefully in such a difficult situation- from rationing supplies, leaving trails, burning tires, etc.

As a mother, I could only hope to have the instincts she demonstrated to protect my babies the way she protected hers (the father too, of course- just I can relate to the mom a bit more).

You are right of course, thank you. I just get very emotionally invested (all searchers do, or we wouldn't be out there). But I have to seperate myself from things sometimes or I'll go nuts! I live about 30 minutes from the search site, so of course our news is saturated with the tragedy in addition to my own knowledge from involvement.

I cant belive the mom and the 2 girls made it thru! The poor women I fell so bad for her loosing her husband and those poor lilttel girls oh its so sad!

I have been praying for this family all week. Such wonderful parents to go through so much for their children.

And wrldpossibility thank you for all of your work in the rescue efforts and enjoy your trip!

This story rips me apart. wrldpossibility, thank you so much for your time and your work. All I could do was pray. Let's keep praying for Kim's wife and two little girls. May James Kim rest in peace.
