Hey everyone! You don't know me - I am completely new here but I lurk (aka stalk) a lot. So first off, let me introduce myself.. I am Christina and I am making first ever report on any trip - well duh this is the pre-trip side!

The boring background stuff... I am 40 (almost 41 - good lord), hubby Mike who is 37 (almost 38 - and yes I went younger lol), DS Brandon who is 14 (almost 15 - even bigger yikes) and of course her royal highness Gwendolyn who is 7.

2014 was a crappy year in every sense of the word. In June, I had a ruptured brain aneurysm which according to my doctor I shouldn't be alive. I didn't even go to the doctor for 3 weeks after it happened because all I knew is that I had a really really bad headache and apparently 2 strokes in those three weeks but you would never know it! Luckily, I am here and all repaired.

Normally, we vacation twice a year. We are cruise junkies (unfortunately not Disney ones lol) and go twice a year. We are from California and displaced into Virginia and had not been home in almost 4 years so we decided to go home in August. That trip, of course, led to Disneyland. Since we are from there, we have lots of friends etc... that work there and they hooked us up! We didn't pay for the parks and we had some surprises while we there as well. So without further boring text.. some pics!

Here is the family!

Left to right (Rahrah aka Sarah my SIL, my MIL aka Manna, DS, DH, Me, and her highness DD front and center)

SOOO she met Ariel and without prompting take a look at the stance and hands... total princess. lol

AND yes, we waiting in a horrific 2+ hour line just for.... so at least we don't have to do THAT at Disneyworld (whoop whoop! - can I get an AMEN!)

The biggest surprise came from our friend who got us in the park. She had an animator make my daughter THIS! One of kind for her and we made him sign it lol

If the pics are too big just let me know and I will resize/relink lol I had already shrunk them before posting :)

So that brings us to now! Sorry this is long - feel free to smack me lol Normally, DH and I go on a cruise in February for our anniversary and leave the kids at home. We didn't have someone to watch them for this February and decided to take them with us. Went round and round with the school since they would miss a week and unfortunately it wasn't doable *sigh*.

So that led us to their spring break time and we began searching for cruises then BUT the cruise lines up the prices for those time frames and there was no way I was going to fork out almost 4K for it considering I have never paid more than $1200 for a cruise lol So back to the drawing table..

Then the light bulb hit.. I pinged my DH and said "hey why don't we do Disneyworld! It is less than a 12 hour drive so easily doable".. he said "hey, let's not".. me "too bad". Mind you, nobody in my family has EVER been to Disneyworld except me and I have only been to resorts for various conferences. I knew this would be the ULTIMATE surprise for my daughter.. my son of course could care less probably ..

So with my husband feeling like he was going to die at any moment with this news, I began to get in planning mode. That led me to this wonderful site and of course the Disney site. I started building mock plans and adjusting as needed..

Found what I wanted and booked with a deposit! Art of Animation Little Mermaid Room, 6 day park hopper, memory maker and deluxe dining plan...

Then... I started second guessing my decision.. ok fine.. make a change! Call up Disney travel and changed it to Finding Nemo suite, 5 day park hopper, memory maker and deluxe dining. WHEW... ok all set.. now when can I book my dining! I frantically kept trying lol

Change #2.. what if my MIL would want to come!! Let me add her in case and get everything changed.. So called again.. Added MIL to packages which left us with Finding Nemo Suite, 5 day base tickets and regular dining plan with memory maker. NOW! we are all set!!

Ding Ding 10/6/14 - time to make dinner reservations... I never knew that I could be so nervous making dinner reservations lol I started at 6:45am and luckily SCORED everything on my list and on the days/times I wanted them. This included Cinderella because well you know.. I have a princess in training!

So with our dining plans complete (yay?!)...

4/4/15 - Chef Mickey's Dinner (Contemporary resort) @ 7:00 PM

4/5/15 - Magic Kingdom: Cinderella's Royal Table 12:00 PM; The Crystal Palace 7:15 PM

4/6/15 - Animal Kingdom: Dino Diner lunch (no time or reserv); Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant 6:45 PM

4/7/15 - Break Day: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop 12:00 PM @ Beach Club resort

4/8/15 - Hollywood Studios: Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano Lunch Fantasmic 1st Show 12:00 PM; quick dinner at Pizza Planet

4/9/15 - Epcot: Lunch at a quick service; Coral Reef Restaurant 7:00 PM

4/10/15 - Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern 12:00 PM; Be Our Guest Restaurant 7:20 PM

4/11/15 - Polynesian Resort: 'Ohana 9:00 AM (Stitch & friends bkfast)

So have never been to any of these LOL should be exciting to do new things!!

So plans have changed dramatically ....

Dates are now Feb 28 - March 7 and we will now be at Beach Club instead of AOA. This time frame should work well but I stress more about them missing school and the whole truancy thing... hopefully they will work with me.

Made the dining reservations .. didn't get the same ones I had before. Only one I am still chasing and probably will never get.. Be Our Guest :D Will put the new schedule together together and post it here (hate trying to keep my thoughts in place lol).

So update for today lol

We planned some more this morning and decided we were going to surprise the kids with this trip for Christmas... now had to figure out how...

I decided that I was going to have a custom puzzle made and scavenger hunt the pieces. My 7yo LOVES puzzles and my son always likes a hunt so it seemed like a cool way to tell them :) Then I only have to hear "are we going yet" for 2 months ...

Hopefully it works as it does in my head...

Following Along!
I've always wanted to see what it would be like to go in February!

/
Have you thought about enrolling the kids in a Youth Education Series class? That might help with school (it did mine when they were a sophomore and junior in high school because the classes are very educational so the whole trip was counted as excused). It would also reduce the ticket prices for your kids and one adult per child.

I hadn't and didn't even know what that was until Googled it lol I will see what their school says... they never miss much school (except the ridiculous amount of weather days last year) so maybe I will get a break.. plus their teachers know I will make sure all work/tests get made up quickly...

It's an awesome program. My kids loved it. I have the new class list but it only goes through Feb 7th. There is a big discount on tickets going through the YES program too.

Not too much to update :)

We did make the decision to drive down instead of fly (thank god) as I can't seem to justify in my head $1200 for 2 hour flights...

I got my 7yo scheduled at BBB for March 4 (YAY!)

I got my husband (teehee) and son scheduled for Pirates League for March 4 while the little one is getting princessed out.

So far, the only thing I haven't gotten that I wanted is BOG and I will just continue to stalk that :)

hahahaha! so from everything I have researched.. it leans to checking it hard and heavy around 45 days before our trip (it is on my calendar lol) since people will cancel due to payment due and check again about 10 days out :)

And well.... who doesn't like a good stalking :rotfl:

Just made a large payment on the trip this morning... sadly doesn't look like I put a dent in it :rolleyes1 lol

New updates and will post pics later tonight :)

MIL isn't able to join us so we decided to surprise our 20 year old with the trip and add Universal to it for her since she is a HUGE Harry Potter nerd and has begged to see it.

Universal tickets purchased for her, hubby and son on our break day (march 3). We decided to make her gift/trip a scavenger hunt as well but we took it a step further. We bought all the movies on sale (black friday) and will be hiding each movie with a clue Harry Potter style... the very end of the hunt, I made a Hogwarts acceptance letter that will be tied to an owl .. the envelope will contain the acceptance letter, supply list AND universal map printed on old parchment paper that I created...

I told my husband that I refuse to be the cool mom next year lol Both of these scavenger hunts have taken on life forms of their own and have been very detailed but at least it is all done.. I have used all my creativity that I am allowed for the year lol
