Cast of Characters:
Me (Amanda), 26: Obsessed Disney Wife
Ray, 29: Not-so-obsessed Husband. (I think he thinks Im a little crazy
)
Valerie, 11: My Cousin, who is way too cool for her own good
Kayla, 9: My other Cousin (also Valeries sister), who is just as obsessed about planning as I am. Weve nicknamed her The Littlest Travel Agent. And I have no idea where she got that from
I count this as the first real day of the trip, since we were actually out of New England. I decided to take the 1-4 shift, since I knew Ray wouldnt be able to do it, and I was feeling pretty awake after our tire episode. It wasnt so bad actually. It was basically all along the Jersey Turnpike, then into Delaware and Maryland. It started raining and I was getting tired, so Ray took over until 6. In Virginia he wanted to rest, so I drove from 6-8, then we stopped in Emporia, VA and got some breakfast at Bojangles. Ray took over again, and it was cloudy, but no rain, until we got to South Carolina. Around 1:30 we stopped in South Carolina to get something to eat at Sonics, one of my favorite places, and since we dont have them around here, we stopped at the first one we saw. Just as we got our food the thunderstorm started. I didn't care, I had my cheeseburger and peanut butter shake, YUM! We ate, then stopped and got gas, and hit the road again. As we drove on the weather got worse. The rain was so bad, I was going 20 on the highway! It was even hailing. It certainly didnt make our day, I think it was at that point that I told Ray I dont care how much he hates planes, next time were flying!! The rain lasted about an hour, then when we got into Georgia it stopped raining and the sun started to shine.
The drive from Georgia to WDW was pretty uneventful, we stopped at the Florida Welcome Center and took some pics. It seemed like it took forever to get to Disney after that, but we finally made it! I've never been so happy to see that Walt Disney World sign!!
Got checked into Pop Century by 9:00, and hauled all of our crap to our room in only 1 trip! The room was in an awesome location, 70s section, 4th floor, right near the food court and 60s pool. We could see the Mickey phone on our right and the Pop Jet Playground on our left. After we got the luggage in the room, we grabbed some dinner, hamburgers and chicken strips. The kids wanted to go for a dip in the pool, so we swam for a couple of minutes while Ray walked around taking pictures of the resort. 20 minutes later we were all in bed after a long ride down
finally we were at Disney World!!
