The job hunt is really frustrating me right now.

So I'm working tomorrow and Friday as well, and then I'll have Saturday off. I only get one day off this week because I started the second day of the work week. But once Sunday rolls around I'll have two off every week from then on (always split and never the same, but two off guaranteed).

Tues/Wed are my target days for Disneyland, so the first one I get off, I'm going.

Almost nine days straight at this point because of the push to reopen earlier (corporates decision, not us), but I'll finally have my first days off Wednesday and Friday, and my supervisor tells me things should stabilize after that with more normal looking shifts.

At least the first check will be nice. I'm gonna get lit tomorrow night for sure though. Gummi city.

(and yes, I even asked my boss about that, I'm good as long as it's on my own time and not when I'm scheduled to work a shift)

Welp, really stinks that I got sick during my probationary period, but I didn't miss work at least. Felt like crap but still went in and did my job. Holding my head high for that.

Hopefully will be able to shake this off by my next shift, whatever this is. Good thing I'm off tomorrow.

Not sure in this day and age that thats something to brag or be proud about.

Hope you feel better soon.

Maybe not but I'm not allowed to call out or take any sick time during my probationary period unless I have a positive COVID test from a drug store like Walgreens. So I don't really have a choice in the matter.

Fortunately it's not COVID, I took a home test and it's negative. So it's gotta be the flu.

That really stinks (for you & your coworkers).
I'm glad its not Covid - it is rampant around the North East.

Did you do more than 1 covid test? It’s recommended to repeat after 48 hours if it’s negative. I just had Covid in September. Took a test Monday & was negtive, repeated it on Tuesday & was positive. Even the faintest line means it’s positive.

Hope you’re wearing a mask to protect your coworkers from whatever you have.

I am, using lots of hand sanitizer too.

Starting to feel better fortunately. Just the congestion and periodic cough now.

About one month in so far and it's going well, I'm fully trained to do everything now. I'm off for thanksgiving but because we're short staffed I'm getting a few more hours then I'm contracted for, which is a good thing. I'll take every extra hour they give me right now, because it won't always be there, especially once we get fully staffed again.

So glad you are happy!

Are you still looking for the ideal job with the hours you would like or did you take a break? From what I understand businesses are beginning to open up a bit

I'm gonna focus on this for now. I'm getting a few more hours then I expected and I feel like there's a chance for growth with this company.

It took a little time adjusting to the schedule and having my days off split, but I'm used to it now.

Foxhound3857, I am so happy for you!
2 months ago you were despondent about your job search,
and now you've got so much behind you, and so much ahead of you!
Keep up the good work 🙏 :goodvibes .

I feel pretty good about surviving Black Friday. I was on register for 2 1/2 hours straight before we finally caught up. Surprisingly it didn't really stress me out. I can sort of just autopilot on register now and filter everything out.

This job has helped me to learn not to let things get under my skin. That can only benefit me going forward.

You should feel good about surviving BF.
I used to manage a service oriented store at a mall,
where I started as Christmas temp help & worked my way up to manager.
I can remember the people circled around our kiosk on BF,
and Christmas Eve was even worse.
Nowadays I think I'd just keep humming in my head,
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

I agree with your statement about not letting things get under your skin.
As a manager I will tell you that yes, it will benefit you going forward.
I pray you have a great week ahead 🙏 :fish:
