The "I've Waited My Whole Life" Christmas Suprise Trip Report-Final/Video Update 2/21

I just spent 4 hours -- Yes 4 hours -- reading the trip report! I loved it (though I did skip the video for now)

We are going 12/14-12/22/07. We were there in 2005 at the same time, but our weather was quite bad as compared to yours (pants, jackets & rain ponchos most days)

My family thinks I'm crazy planning so far in advance. And even the kids who can't wait to go back told me they can't deal with all my talk of which restaurants to try this time.

Did you ever consider free lancing journalism? You are very entertaining!

Thanks for a great TR!

So glad you enjoyed it! I hope you get the weather we had, it really was perfect! And isn't that a great week to go? The spirit of Christmas and the decor without the massive crowds! I would go again then in a heartbeat.

And yes we psycho planners are a unique bunch. Not everyone "gets" us but they sure are thankful when we get there and they have a nice sit down dinner and they aren't the tired hungry family groveling at the hostess stand for a meal!

Happy planning for your trip!

And thanks for the compliments too! I enjoy writing and I was a broadcast journalism major. Mom would be proud that I am using that to write a DIS report. :lmao: Being that I am a Mom/Painter/Church Secretary I don't use those writing skills all that much!

You are such a precious person! I loved reading every minute of your trip report. It was so touching.

I know that most people in my own life do not understand why I am so Disney crazy. They ask, "aren't you ready to go somewhere else?" But the truth is that right now I don't want to go any where else. Disney is about family to us. It is about holding tight and cherishing these moments while they are little, because we know that they grow so fast!

I cry every time I leave the Magic Kingdom at the end of my trip too. You are such a wonderful mother, your kids and Grumpy are so blessed to have you.

I am so excited because I am beginning the journey that you began last year. (Sadly, I did not think to make this a surprise, but maybe another year!) I have been dreaming about it every night and researching every morning. This will be our first trip at Christmas time, we have been going every year when they have free dining. (It is hard for my grumpy to pass up that kind of deal) But, this year he said we are going the first week of December (my b-day) so that we can experience Christmas time there. (he says he is doing this because he realizes that I am not going to stop talking about it until we go at Christmas. I am praying and watching a for a great deal at that time:) I welcome any tips that you would like to send my way.

Thanks so much for sharing. March really does come quick. Our anniversary is in March and I notice that after Christmas it seems to come so quick!

By the way, Elf is my all time FAVORITE movie!

Hey fellow ELF lover, thank you for the nice post! (and do see Night At The Museum if you haven't already. It is fast becoming a family favorite for us right up there with Elf!)

Oh you will enjoy Christmas time there! It is pretty and festive and the Christmas music! I think you will have a ball! Go to the GF and see the Gingerbread house, it is really something. The Holiday sleigh ride I don't know that I can really recommend. I mean it was okay, well you read the report. It can be nice if you are having dinner at WL but I would not make a special trip over for it.

And definately make those ADRs! We saw many people getting turned away, that can kill your Christmas spirit for sure!

Happy planning!:santa:

Great trippie!

You asked earlier what a CM does at Whispering Canyon, and you drink that really big drink ... well my neighbor went, drank two small ones and the HUGE one. The waitress walked back with her jaw literally on the floor, when she saw it empty. He just laughed and laughed. He also assured her he did NOT want another one ... lol. I'm pretty sure he really had to chase the white rabitt after that one.

I also understand your frustration at 50's Prime Time. We're going there for the first time in May, however we've been twice to WC with a server who didn't do any antics. It's hard, but you feel like saying "Hello! I'm paying a lot of money for you to make a fool of me!"

In regards to your March trip ... the only thing that could go wrong is Spring Break. However, last year we went during spring break, in the middle of the week, and had a 15 min wait for Dumbo. It really depends, and it's something hard to guess. Also, the weather is usually pretty decent, but we just got a cold front here this weekend, which prooves you can't plan for everything.

Does the planner that you use also do Disneyland? We just decided we're going in TWO YEARS. I'm silly, but I'm THRILLED to be a KOTS this time. I have a two year old who truely believes that everyday is a Disney day. Smart kid.

Hi and thanks for reading! Yes Spring Break has me a little nervous but looking at the recent poll I think we are going on a slow week so hopefully it will work well. And the weather I am sure will beat New England at that time of year so it will be all good!

Yes the planner I used does do Disneyland too. She was a sweetheart to work with!

And have fun with the KOTS thing! I am so glad we did it that way. It is truly something they will NEVER forget!

Oh thank you! It really is a great week to go! I hope you have an awesome time and do write a trippie when you come back!

Allyson :)

PS My husband thinks I am crazy for reading (and writing one) them too!

I just finished reading your whole trippy from start to finish - the video is absolutely priceless. Any news from America's Funniest Home Videos yet?

I so enjoyed your whole report, I felt at times like I was right there with you. I can so identify with several of your comments about your family, your kids, the situations at the parks, everything - I'm sure many people can, that's why the DIS is so great.

Then I got to your last day and I saw these two pictures.

101_5756.jpg

I saw the pic of your little fella looking so sad, then scrolled down to see your DH grinning like a loon.

I was :rotfl2:

Plus, the '747 Northwest to Boston' comment had me rofl too - my DH is exactly the same.

So sad your TR is over but happy that you have another trip in the pipeline. I'm guessing your DH is the one not going - I haven't read ahead to that bit yet so I'm off now to find out if I was right. Meanwhile, thanks for sharing your trip with us and I hope you have fun planning the next one :)

Loved this report - the kids are too cute (even when Belle is pulling an "I'm too cool for this" face!) and you described everything so well. Sounds like you had a blast!

I loved the video too, it cracked me up... especially the bit at the end where you say "Time to do some damage control...!"

Thanks new readers! Glad you found me!

No word from AFV yet! I must admit, I am suprised. I thought once we got that legal mumbo jumbo paperwork it was a good sign and we'd hear soon. I am not completely giving up hope. I still scan the mail hoping for something from them each day.

And ding ding ding you are right! Grumpy is not joining us this next adventure. He will be flying out the same day for his work trip (taking about 10 or 12 teenage boys from the school he works at) to Peru. So while he is visiting Macchu Picchu we will be touring the World! It is actually working out nice because he'll be on a shorter trip next year, March 10-22 and we'll be gone March 10-16 so we'll only be home 6 days without him. Usually we are home 2-3 weeks without him and we just hate that.

Just read your whole TR while DH watched a horrible movie! What a great trip you had...we plan to go in Dec. of 08 for Xmas!! Thanks for taking the time to write!

Hi! I just read your TR again and enjoyed it
as much if not more then the first time. Have
you started planning the march one yet or is
it to early? The anticipation I think is half the
fun! HAPPY PLANNING!!:goodvibes

Well i just sat here for three hours and read your entire trip report..i havent been over on the trip reports board much ,but since i just wrote mine, i wanted to come read ...I loved your report!!! hope you write another after your trip next year !

Hi. Thank you sooooo much for sharing this trip with us. I'm only up to page 15, but I am enjoying it so much! Your family is wonderful!! I could totally relate to arriving on Main St. for the first time. Each time we go, being on Main St. and then seeing the castle STILL takes my breath away!!!!

I'm going back to read more!!!:)

I still have to keep reading to get to your final thoughts. I know how that last day feels. Ugghhh!!!! It's the worst! I need to have another trip in the works to make it a little better!

I am so glad you will be going back.......that should put a smile back on your face.

Now I must get back to one of the BEST trip reports I have read in awhile - YOURS!!!:)

I just read your TR in one sitting. Loved every minute of it. So much for getting everything done I had planned for my day off of work :) Your kids are adorable, you DH reminds me of mine, and I loved hearing about all of the things you experienced on your vacation. The video was hillarious & I had to show it to my DH. He watched it & was like "What's the point in giving a nametag...I don't get it" I looked & him and just said "nevermind, you wouldn't get it..." He's just too serious & doesn't understand the fun & magic of Disney.

Anyway, wonderful report & loved all the pictures. Can't wait for your next TR when you go next March ;)

SharonW--never too early! Yes we are planning the March one. We have our airline tickets already and are just waiting on the 2008 packages to come out to book. Looks like POFQ. My Mom told me to plan the whole thing but I have tried to get some opinions out of her. We tried to get an estimated price on CR to see if it was doable. She said they could if I could. I did math and even doing fuzzy math, it ain't working.:sad1: But POFQ looks nice and I've never stayed there so I am sure it will be nice.

jackdis--thanks for reading and glad you enjoyed it! I will have to go find yours!

becky_AK---I'm flattered, you spent your day off reading my trippie! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and yes your DH sounds like mine. He doesn't "get" it either. I am beginning to think no amount of pixie dust would make him understand!

Allyson :)
