Hi All, :flower3:
After drooling over so many dining reviews over the last few years I have decided that I will do my own this year :goodvibes

Let me start with introducing my trip..

We leave the grey and miserable (and very windy) UK in 4 days :cool1: and will be heading for AKV. We are DVC members since 2006 :thumbsup2

Me - Wendy (32 in 2 days :sad2:)
DH - Steve ( already 32 :rotfl2:)

We will stay for 2 weeks and until a few days ago we were not planning on using the DDP! All changed when DH decided it "might be nice" :scared1:

Of course it was left to me to sort ADR's :headache:

So I made a good number of ADR's last week and thought i was sorted :rotfl2::rotfl2: since then I have spent every spare moment worrying about my choices and changing them :upsidedow

Here is what we have (at the moment :rotfl:)

Arrival night - Counter Service at AKL - will be Mara which we both quite like.
2. Captains Grille @ Yaught Club - I am quite worried about this one. The menu looks a little bit limited and we have never been before. I have been trying to change this one but with no luck..

3. Tutto Italia

4. Whispering Canyon - I :lovestruc those platters with the pulled pork

5. we NEED a ressie for this day. It will be a DHS EMH evening and so I really would like to find a HS ADR...

6. Jiko

7. Le Cellier - I managed to snag this one a few days ago :woohoo::woohoo:

8. Planet Hollywood - just for the fun of it.

9. Narcoossee's - DH Must have lobster :rotfl:

10. Boma

11. Sanaa

12. Another struggle for DHS EMH :scared1: no ressie yet!

13. Via Napoli

14. Raglan Road.

So, I guess this will be a surprise Dining Review when I get back as I may have changed them all again when I get there :rotfl:

Anyone have any thoughts.. suggestions for the HS days?

Anything I have overlooked - please god tell me there isn't :scared1:

Time to get the suitcases sorted!

I'm reading! I'm looking forward to reading your reviews! Even if you do change them 1000 more times:rotfl2:

thank you Athenna :goodvibes

i was starting to think i'd made really terrible choices with 100 views and no replies :rotfl2:

I will try to do some reviews while I am there so that they are fresh in my mind

LOL, No problem:goodvibes

You've made great choices:thumbsup2 You've got some of my all time favs on there!

Looking forward to your reviews when you return - have a great trip and make sure you have a zebra dome for me.

I cannot believe how quickly the 2 weeks have gone :sad1:

We made a lot of changes :rotfl:

I will hopefully get some reviews done tomorrow as I have to go to work in 30 mins (havent slept yet since leaving :confused3)

Unfortunatley I wasn't good at taking pictures of al of our food but I got a good number :thumbsup2

Looking forward to it:) Yeah, that was a fast 2 weeks:sad2:

thanks guys. we had some great meals and some not so great..
time for bed now as I have been awake for way too long and done a shift at work all with no sleep after a flight to the UK :scared1: :rotfl2:

I'll get round to some reviews tomorrow...

Ok, so, our first meal was a new one for us. The Captains Grille at the Yaught Club Resort.

It was actually our 2nd night. we didn't book a table service for our 1st night as we knew that we would be too tired to eat it after our long journey.

We arrived at the grille around 15 minutes early and were given a pager. We took a few pictures of the lobby area. This one was my favorite.

We were seated within 10 minutes and Duane was our server.

Duane was really lovely and explained the menu in depth. He explained that the Captains Grille allow you a 3 course meal as 1 credit on the standard dining plan - as long as you chose from a number of set meals for each course. If you chose something that was not on the set menu you were only allowed your entree and desert on the DDP.

I chose the set menu. I started with Ceasar salad which I did not get a picture of but it was a nice (not too large) salad.

I then had Lump Crab cakes - With fennel, Arugula, and fingerling potatoes with stone ground mustard sauce.

I started eating when I remembered the pictures :scared1:

The crab cakes were lovely and the dressing on the arulula was sort of lime flavoured and was really nice. If i had to give a bad point I would say that the cakes were a little sloppy.

DH had now Crab Legs - With new potatoes, and corn on the cob.

He struggled to get the hang of cracking the legs to get the meat out and ended up in a right old mess :rotfl2: By the end of the meal he had the hang of it and enjoyed the crab legs but said he wouldn't get them again as it was just too much hassle when you were hungry :rotfl:

Duane was very attentive and served us really well.

For desert I had Key Lime Tart - With whipped cream and macaroon.

DH had Vanilla Ice cream. He said he didn't want a large desert. He prefers savoury food but as we were on the DDP he was stuck with it. He would rather the appertiser than the dessert but unless we paid OOP he couldn't have it that way.

The Key Lime tart was nice if not slightly too big for me to eat

DH said the ice cream was good.

When we had finished dinner we went for a walk and took a few pictures. This is my favourite.

:woohoo:

great start :cool1:
cant wait to hear about some of your others. weve added WCC for our next trip. :goodvibes

Day 3 we visited Epcot and so decided to have our counter service there.
Today should have been a Tutto Italia Dinner but this was our first change of many :rotfl2: We had changed it to the Tuft Club at SSR.

We were quite looking forward to SSR so decided that we didn't want a heavy lunch. We passed Japan on the world showcase and decided to try Yakitori House for a CS as we had never eaten in Japan before.

Inside was pretty busy so we hung around for a little while to get an indoor seat. The seating area inside is pretty small and it was pretty busy

After around 10 minutes it started to empty :woohoo: so we went to order.

I found it really funny when a guy in front of me couldn't understand the japanese server explaining what we could have for desert on the DDP :rotfl: he managed to understand 'cookie' but really couldn't catch 'ginger cake':laughing: after a few minutes of asking her to repeat it over and over he went with the cookie :rotfl2:

I had Teryaki Chicken with Rice, the cookie and a coke.

DH had the Tempura shrimp with Udon Noodle broth, cookie and a coke.

The chicken tasted good but it was a little crispy (like it had been sitting around for a while) the rice was good sticky rice. I didn't manage the cookie and put it in my bag for later. When I came to eat it later I found it totally squashed and the choc chips melted into a big mess :rolleyes1

DH said the shrimp was good but he found it difficult to eat the noodles and broth without making a mess everywhere :rolleyes1

All in all it was a pretty good counter service. :woohoo:

And onto the turf club.... or not!

We had a ADR at 6pm at SSR. we left AKV at 4:30 and waited for a bus to DD.. and waited.. and waited... :sad2:

After around 40 mins the DD bus arrived and we hoped all would be well

We got off at the Market Place and thought about walking to SSR but thought it would be quicker to catch the boat over. We had stayed at SSR 2 years ago and the bus from the DD Market Place was frequent and quick and we used it often.

We couldn't see the SSR on any of the boat stations so we asked the duty CM which line we should join and she pointed us towards the boat that just docked which was heading Pleasure Island. We boarded the boat, it was close to 5:45pm when we boarded.

The boat docked at pleasure island and the captain then told us that the boat didn't actually go to SSR and that we had to wait for another boat :eek:

So we waited again.. and we waited... and we watched the time tick past 6pm.. by this time DH was pretty unimpressed and we were hungry.

We decided to give SSR a miss and opted for Planet Hollywood as we had a ressie there later in the holiday. we would switch them :thumbsup2

We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated at PH and were seated on the 2nd floor down from the top (i cant remember the floor number )

Our Server was Mimi.

So, here is my confession.... I forgot to take any pictures here  I think with all the panic I just forgot that I should be taking pictures

I had Roasted Half Chicken - Roasted half chicken with Planet Hollywood's own seasonings and served with mashed potatoes and fresh sautèed vegetables.

DH had Ribeye Steak - USDA Choice 12 oz. ribeye steak chargrilled to order. Served with french fries and fresh sautèed vegetables.

The chicken tasted good but the mashed potato was not good and I hardly ate any of it. It did not taste like real mashed potatoes, more the packet potatoes which I really don't like :sad2:

DH ate all of his steak and fries and said it was 'ok'.

We both had vanilla icecream for dessert which arrived half melted already. :sad1:

Our server (Mimi) was pretty poor and only really seemed interested in us when it came to tipping :headache:

All in all, we both agreed that planet hollywood is a fun place to eat and that we like it for this but the food is just 'ok' and if we wanted a nice meal we would probably not go there.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your report...I was gonna do a PTR but I too have changed things a billion times so I'll just have to write when I get back. popcorn::
