The Implosion of John Kerry?

Paradise:
I would like to respond to your "allegations."
#4 Are you suggesting that 9/11 paralyzing Wall Street and the fear that ensued after would not have happened had there been another President?
#13 The President is not to blame for Americans incurring debt. It is the fault of a society which lives beyond it's means. Is the federal government supposed to monitor personal debt and cut off your credit when you are in too deep?
#21 Let's not forget the Clinton's and the Whitewater scandal. If this is not secretive, I don't know what is!
#22 I don't think that a personal wealth should be an issue here. Kerry's own wife is a billionaire. The Hollywoodites that he surrounds himself with are worth millions. Besides, wealth is no indicator of ability or character. (The Clinton's certainly proved that!)
#25 Last time I checked, all the President needs to use force is the support of Congress, which he had. If our country has to have the agreement of others to act then we are no longer a sovereign nation.
#31 President Bush did not make the UN irrelevant. The UN has done that all on their own. Saddam continually thumbed his nose at the UN and received, gasp, another empty threat. I think 17 violations with no enforcement was enough to see that the UN intended to do nothing.

instead of blaming the President for unemployment and Bankruptcy, let's put the blame where it belongs.

unemployment figures are up due in part to companies outsourcing, why aren't americans screaming about the companies who are sending jobs overseas, or moving businesses overseas, for every customer service call answered by someone overseas, there is at least one american job lost, actually more..put all these people in one building and you need custodial, and maintenance people to take care of the building...

Ah, but they ARE!! And they want the government to do something about it.

Hey guys, not trying to get way off subject here but outsourcing is very good for the economy. Why should you have more rights and choices as a consumer than the manufacturer? CEO's are people too.

I haven't read this whole thread but it brings to my mind something that has me confused. First, I'm with Sen McCain (an honest to God war hero) who feels that what happened 30+ years ago is of little consequence. Let's move beyond who did what when they were in their 20's.

McCain, POW experience and all, is still a politician and he trades on the same thing. I disagree w/him that this stuff is of little consequence. (And hi. :wave2: Don't mean to flame you.)

it's also great for unemployment rates,

another wonderful thing american companies are doing to america is selling out to foreign companies.., the number of foreign owned and run power companies in the US is scarey, if one country were to aquire all of these and shut down, we'd have such a power shortage it would bring us to our knees

Most people agree that 5.5% is pretty good.
As far as American owned companies selling interest to " foriegn " companies...so what? Remember Free Trade? The only thing encouraging those companies to sell to foriegn interests is the american consumer and their penchant for the highest quality goods at the lowest price.

Most of us aren't.

I am:p During the Bush Presidency:

-Average personal return on investment of 8-10%

-Tax cut

-My family has been safe from a terrorist attack and feel comfortable with Bush leading the fight on terrorism

Tell me specifically how John Kerry is going to improve on my personal situation. The only specific I have heard is that he is going to raise my taxes.

BTW, I am a High School Teacher.

HOLY COW, Laz! Where the heck are you a High School teacher? I'd love to let my mom know where she can transfer to make $250,000+ per year! (I'm assuming that's your salary, since Kerry's tax roll-backs will only be on those in the $250K+ income category).

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the board. But, I have been to Disney World three times so I thought that this would be a good place to "play". I was surprised to see such political discussions as this one on a Disney board, but it is important to discuss these issues because they are so important and because we really need to vote Bush out and have a regime change in America. There are so many reasons why we need a regime change. Bush stole that election in Florida, right? He let all those Saudi people go back right after 911? Michael Moore said this in his great movie "Fahrenheit 911"!! Now that movie is the most popular in Germany, and Germany is our friend, just like France. Actually, they want to be, but we won't let them anymore. We need a regime change because we aren't being friendly to our friends and that is bad. Our friends want us back and we need their sympathy again, just like we had it after 911.

We are using our military in other countries! We are killing people with our bombs! It's like the 60s and the Vietnam War protests never happened! I was there in '68 and got my head bashed in by a police baton in Chicago, so I know! I remember Clinton's speech, and Lyndon Johnson's wife Hummingbird. It was terrible, the whole thing. I was in the hospital for 3 months.

Our friends in Europe are mad at us because Bush made them lose their sympathy for us after 911. Bush attacked the Taliban and then went to Iraq! Bush is a militarist, right! Just look at
Michael Moore's movie, it's all in there!

The Arabs are mad at us because Bush is making our troops kill Arabs without the UN's permission! We should have the UN's permission whenever we need to kill people, that way they
won't be mad at us, and our friends in Europe can still be our friends. We need friends, and Bush is making them all be mad at us.

The oil prices are skyrocketing because Bush let the people in Baghdad loot that art museum! I'll bet Halliburton and Cheney took some of those art pieces, too. And now there's all this
fighting going on even after Bush said, Mission Accomplished! He lied to us, just like Al Gore, the real President said!

Bush lied about the WMD! How could Iraq get rid of nuclear weapons and hide them from the UN inspectors? No, there weren't any. Saddam Hussein was mad that the UN was in his country so he wouldn't cooperate with them. I don't blame him. And now look, his sons are both dead and Bush is still in the White House. Saddam is in jail, and he should be, too. But I'll bet he'll hire Johnny Cochran or somebody like that and get acquited. There are mitigating circumstances, and he is taking such good care of that tree in the prison yard. And did we really have to humiliate him by pulling him out of the bunker in the ground and print the pictures? Saddam was the President of Iraq! The US is so pushy under Bush. That's just one of the reasons why our friends are mad. I mean, "Freedom Fries"!? Who can blame the French for being so mad at us!

Let's vote for John Kerry everyone! He served in Vietnam, he won medals, he's a senator with a long history of service. he's a man of the people, and even drives SUVs! He doesn't own them, because that would be a gas-gussling thing, but he and Teresa drive them! Everybody likes to drive SUVs, they are so practical. My brother had a SUV but it broke down in the desert near here. So, now he has an old Volkswagon bus. He loves it. I think he'll paint it.

And John Kerry is for children and moms! He supports the family! He believes that life begins at conception, yet he isn't going to limit a woman's right to get an abortion! See how he accepts both sides of an argument! We can have our cake and eat it too!

Kerry is able to see subtleties, while Bush is all about black and white. He can't see that our fighting in Iraq is making our friends in Europe upset. Our friends in Syria, and Libya, and Egypt and Sudan, and North Korea are so mad. Wait, not North Korea, but those other countries.

Iran is really mad. And look, we're fighting right next to their country, so they should be mad, right?

We fight all the time, because of Bush. Kerry thinks we should go to the UN and that other countries should share our burdens. He's right! Kerry even said after his Vietnam service that a country shouldn't have the right to make war without UN involvement and approval.

Remember how bad the nuclear standoff with Russia was!? It was horrible. I don't want another one, now with the Arab countries. They are mad at us, and we should be friends.

Why did Bush keep teaching the children on 911? Because he didn't want to be the President then, he just wanted to teach the kids. Isn't that crazy?

Kerry is a man of the people. His wife is a very busy business person and just as talented as Hillary Rodham. Kerry helps her, and he is good at it. I mean they have a big house and SUVs. His parking spot on Beacon Hill cost about 110,000 dollars I think. Kerry understands the people, because he is a person! George Bush isn't!

John Kerry has a great work ethic. He works hard and cares about the people he represents. Yes, he hardly ever showed up to vote in the Senate, I know that. But he was always away doing the work for the people in Massachusetts. They have Kennedy and Kerry so they know how to get the best representation.

Let's help elect Kerry and get the UN to help us with our foreign policy! Let's get all of our friends back. I want to go to Paris next year and I think that they might yell at me. Kerry knows how to deal with the terrorists. He'll have the whole world on our side through the UN! And i'll bet he'll kick out Halliburton.

We need someone with a military background, and a "regular guy" background. We need someone like that to go to the UN and get our friends back!! I am going to vote for John Kerry for President because a country needs friends, and we shouldn't make decisions that kill other people. That is what the UN is for!!

John Kerry will bring back all the jobs that benedict arnold outsourcing companies sent to india! we can have those jobs back when president kerry gets to the white house! bush won't have a job, but we will because kerry said so! it doesn't matter how he'll get the jobs back, he will! it doesn't matter that he really doesn't have a plan on how to get rid of Bin Laden, I know he will because he is not George Bush, and Bush is! We need to vote him out and have a regime change.

Another Democratic desire to suppress free speech!

Hey, you might not LIKE what I am saying and that is absolutely okay with me. But, I also notice that you have nothing of SUBSTANCE to add to the allegations at hand.

Have a wonderful day!

I'm not even sure if she is a democrat. I doubt that she would want to suppress free speech either.

She's a recent Princeton grad so she probably has better things to do. You have heard of Princetown down in Nashville, right?:D

Kerry's campaign tax platform basically amounts to this: A promise to raise taxes on those allegedly evil people who have been financially successful enough to earn more than $200,000 a year … That's roughly what Clinton promised in 1992, but many Americans recall all too clearly that the middle-class tax cut was tossed aside within days of Clinton occupying the White House. …

The average middle-class family - which he defines as people in the middle-fifth of earners - would have paid an additional $1,933 in taxes this year if Kerry had prevailed on tax votes during the first Bush term. Over the next 10 years, that same family would pay an additional $15,440 … GOP WEBSITE

You know what's funny? Nearly every time I read one of your posts about this topic, I can imagine your face getting red, the blood vessels in you neck getting larger and your *this* close to screaming. I could be wrong, but I'm probably pretty close.

You're about as close to being correct about me as you are about John Kerry.

Sorry, but you give yourself way too much credit. I find all these conservative posts rather humorous and entertaining. It's nice to know the Dem's have the right on the run.

I do find it a bit worrisome that you're spending time imagining my facial expressions...perhaps you need to find something to entertain yourself with. I know I haven't given your reactions a passing thought.

louie694,

Thanks for the laugh. That was the funniest post I have read in a long time. You put a good effort into it.

Umm, Kerry's plan is to roll back the tax cuts on the top 1% of earners in the US. Unless you married into money, I don't think a high school teacher qualifies (although you should! teachers are way under paid!). Your taxes will stay the same.

I'm glad you're doing well, though!

Although I support Kerry, I don't blame Bush for the economic woes of the past few years. No President has that much control over the economy, one way or the other. But I've got plenty of reasons not to like him, I don't need the economy as a reason.

Unemployment figures are up not only becuase of jobs going off-shore, but because of H1-B visas allowing foreign workers to come to the US and compete for American jobs. The bill to increase the cap of H1-B visas sreaming nito the US was steamrolled through congress by the GOP in late 2000. During 2001 and 2002, 799,100 H-1B visas were issued and renewed despite a 6 percent national unemployment and 8 percent in Silicon Valley.

Making the issue more perplexing is the L-1 visa. L-1s are intra-company transfers used to transfer aliens to work for a US firm or subsidiary of a company which already employs them outside of the US. There are over 325,000 L-1 visa holders in the US and that number is growing rapidly, as there is no cap on L-1s. Special visas and offshore outsourcing go hand-in-hand, as many companies import H-1B and L1 workers, force US citizens to train them, then offshore the work and lay off their US staff.

Ask yourself: "Who is America For?" Is its purpose to support short-term corporate profits for a few very rich individuals, or for the long term viability of American citizens? Please help us end this travesty and end this recession.

Why not?

Ok so you believe that if all companies sell out to foreign interests, and the foreign companies were to close or outsource, leaving most americans unemployed...that is good because it's free trade...???

Providing a refuge of personal freedom and responsibility.

For fun replace 'foreign workers' with' people eager to better themselves 'and read that post again.
Also try replacing ' few very rich individuals' with 'American citizen'
