The, "I'll pose for pics & sign autographs" B-day tour! WEEERE BAAACK!!!!

:thumbsup2 Hi all - just wanted to say...I am having a gargae sale this weekend and people are crazy about Disney Tupperware - I had to laugh - 2 blue haired women almost were in a fist fight over Kung Fu Panda sandwich keepers -

Gotta love it - my mom doesn't even know who he is or care....ever wonder if you came from the wrong family? :confused3

My sister had a baby last October and is refusing to let her have anything Disney - but...I babysat her a few weeks ago - and guess what - we found Playhouse Disney - and I believe it was called the "Hot Dog Dance" - Skyler went crazy over it - jumping in her walker like nobodies business...and now..my sister is forced to pop a tape I got her of it - in because that is the only thing that calms her when she is fussy. :lmao:

So next time we go shoppin - I may start initiating her into the Disney Family - I mean...whose to say that the Disney Store at the Mall of America might not catch her eye...esp. from inside...:rolleyes1

Operation Disney Initiation:cool2:

Has anyone done the speedway ride along at Dis by the way?

Hello? Is anyone out there? Can you hear me? Am I speaking to myself lately? Is this my house or the Dis Boards?!!!:lmao: :rotfl2:

So this is the quiet days of summer...I am getting our Mickey Countdown calendar ready to go...

I will post pics as soon as it is up and finished....

Question:

What is your favorite Christmas memory?

Mine - is in 6th grade....we were heading to my grandparents house for Christmas Eve..and my Dad decided to get the coversion van washed before we arrived...:drive:

Great Plan until the wash was done and the doors never opened...yup..we were stuck...and then..guess who was ordered out of the van windows in her best velvet dress to get help...

ME!! :thumbsup2

People were so mad...traffic jam...honking ..waiting to get in...and here is me...jumping up and down in the little window...waving for help...hoping someone would see our plight...:worship:

Which they did...and buzzed the attendent to start the wash...assuming it had not started and thus the doors did not open...

So there I was...with suds squirting in delicate places as I wriggled back in the window...:scared1:

It took over 3 hours to get us out - they had to break an arm of the washer off to get us out...and no...they did not seem to understand the importance of me going home to get a new dress/underwear on...I sat through Christams Eve smelling like PalmOlive and Wax.:dance3:

Hope ya giggled!:woohoo:

Mine was the Christmas we got a swimming pool...in the house! We lived in a sort of L- shaped house and my room was in the back through the laundry room. I heard a noise and went to investigate- at about 2:30 am Christmas morning- and the laundry room had flooded. Now this room was sunken in so there was about 1 1/2 of water. I waded through it and started bouncin on my parents bed thanking them for the pool! :rotfl:

We had the same experience - laundry room hose broke -not a fun time and what a mess! I want an indoor pool but not like that!;)

Hey beautiful Mama! Glad I make you laugh - you are my idol...I only hope this Trip Report will be 1/2 as good as yours...I may steal your idea and make a pick as you go itenerary...:worship:

Hey I just found your PTR. I am also going in December, but we are just missing you. We are going from the 15-20. I have to say I read EVERY page of your PTR and laughed every second. :lmao: You are one funny lady and I look forward to hearing more funny stories. I am subscribing. :goodvibes

Steal away.
I may need help...does that still mean stealing or is that aiding and abetting?:lmao:

I am sooo sorry we will not be able to be there at the same time...such is the law of the Dis I am afraid...I need to get some time to read again...so busy with soccer and 3 teens that I am not on here as much as I would like...

Thanks for joining and I hope I do not dissapoint you and you become more successfull and joyous because I made ya laugh! And if so and it involves a guy named Oscar...you better remember my name!

HI Dizzy!

Haven't been in the hood for a while so I thought I'd catch up.

You totally crack me yup! :3dglasses

How in the sam-hill are you and yours?

Hi Dawn,

Just wanna say that I've just found your PTR and I've fallen in love (not in a weird, dimented stalker way). I love your humor and the way you tell stories. Seriously, you've made me laugh to the point of tears and almost a snort here and there (and that is so not lady-like).

Also, love to hear the stories about your kids. Sounds like you have a great relationship with them and they all have their heads on straight. You definitely raised 'em right!

Can't wait to hear more!

I am doing okay...in soccer Heaven/He** depending on whom you ask...I am not slightly exagerating in the fact that $247 in gas has been spent in the past week just shuttling...and we stayed in a hotel 1 night to save gas! The biggest issue is that 3 teens need 3 different teams and head in 3 different directions...Treyner has been staying with his buddy Dan from Michigan the past few days...I'll try and post some pics in the next few days...they are in a huge USA CUP that has teams from all over the world - China, Mexico, Scottland etc...and are in the running for 1st place...the Cup though is over 1 hour from our house and the other 2 still have practice not anywhere close...oh yeah...and then Treyner has districts...1 hour in the opposite direction of the Cup...and he leaves for Durango, Co. on Sunday - need to get him packed - soccer bag de-stinked (is that possible) and at the airport by 5 am. If he doesn't get a schoalrship I told him to stay there and work at a diner so we can afford him for next year!:rotfl:

Did I mention Carsyn is IN serious SWOONING over Dan from Michigan...kid is going to be a Sr...6'3 about 220 and can speak in a english, hispanic and Arnold Swarzenager (sp?) accent...yeah...it's giggle this....toss hair there...text non stop...full throttle puppy love...details of the fact he lives 7 hours away are minimal I guess...but Treyner has the girls Canadian Calgary Soccer team inviting him to prom...so at least she is not having to worry if her passport is still good!:lmao:

That's bout it...how is life in the big state of Utah??:3dglasses

But....did you need a Depends moment...if no...I still have work to do...

We have our good times..and our moments when I want to cry...but they are really good kids who behave well in public...unless it's a restaurant that they think they can get away with ice fights/strawballs (no spit - only water) fights etc...I mean...who invented the straws?? Yet they have the understanding and compassion to think of others first and are usually the least selfish people I know...so overall...i won't send them back...
Can't wait to hear more!
Thanky you - I truly mean that - :cloud9:

Warning: I am here needing to blog a bit -

The B-day boy is getting ready to head to Colorado for a college scouting week at a camp he was invited to...I am okay with this...or at least I am trying to convince myself I am okay with it. I am certain he wants there...I am certain he will go if asked...and I am certain I will be okay when he goes after medication for depression and a stiff cocktail. :drinking1
Not now - this is just a week...he was gone for a week last year to Mexico for a missions trip...I survived just fine...

Next year...this will be see ya later alligater...and after all the times I have had that may be a bit sad...this will be my greatest...not because I am going to miss him being around...but because I will miss out on sooo much of whom he will become. And the worst...is the fact I will have to do this emotional rollercoaster all over again 2 years later...and then 3.

It's like knowing that there is an artistic masterpiece in development and instead of watching the daily progression - I will only be able to see a glimpse from time to time and then the end result - and that will probably be hung in a darn museum in a different state anyway.

I will always encourage all my kids to go where there dreams may take them...but it's hard...and I am not sure I thought this would be as hard as it is...

I have been asked if I will do a senior trip with each of my kids to Disney...and the answer is yes... it is a perfect time to celebrate their adulthood and still let them know it is okay to always be a kid inside...especially to their Madre! :lovestruc

Sorry for the slight rant...but through all this sadness...is the happy light at the end of this journey...and that is this trip...and you all are a part of that...even the lurkers...so please think good thoughts/prayers for my son this week...with a little pixie dust...:tinker: he will be a SkyHawk with a scholarship...and then...I can breathe a little easier...and cry a little less...and save money on school...and buy an airplane!:rotfl:

Hi Dawn,

I found your PTR about 4 hours ago and have finally finished it. I'm loving EVERY minute. You remind me so much of one of my 'Real Life' girlfriends who moved about five years ago- your wit is astounding and it's easy to see why you are as successful in sales as you are.

I'm about 10 years ahead of you in parenting. Reading your report brought back a LOT of the drama I was experiencing back then - all of the good and the stress - which, oddly enough, I miss. I saw Mamma Mia! over the weekend with a group of friends - we all cried at the 'Slipping through my fingers' song. Savor EVERY minute!

Finally - I know that you've made all of your ADRs (or at least I think you have) but I'd like you to consider two more. My DH and I tried the California Grill for the first time 8 years ago for our 20th anniversary and have celebrated just about every major event there since. It's on the top floor of the Contemporary and has the most amazing views. At dusk they lower the lights for the fireworks at MK - easily viewable. They also have a catwalk / rooftop area that is available for CG guests only to walk out and see the fireworks from outside. We love going there with our kids (a favorite for all of them since they were in their teens) and we love going alone - a great romantic spot for just two.

The food is also amazing. They have flat breads and cheese boards, incredible entreés and sushi (although I'm thinkin' this would not be your first choice...) We often order a first course, savor it and then order a second. Or order another first course - the servers accommodate it all. Both the food and the service are top-level - you won't find any better on Disney property - which means you won't find any better - ANYWHERE!

The second is the best kept secret in Epcot - Le Bistro de Paris. It's the upstairs neighbor of Chefs de France - and the quality of both food and service outclass its downstairs relatives by several degrees. You access le Bistro from the back - near the entrance to the CS pastry shoppe. The chef from the Bistro is world reknown and the food is beyond anything else in the area. Reservations can only be made 30 days in advance. If you reserve near 8 pm, ask (and wait for) a table window. The views of Illuminations from the windows here rival those of the VIP viewing areas in Italy and England.

I'm looking forward to your next update! DH and I have really enjoyed laughing our way through your stories! (I think your Grandmother and my Grandfather - who also lived his entire life in MN - are related. My sister never came back from a family vacation in MN without a scar - most related to fish hooks from Granpa's casting!)

Again. thank you - I love the fact someone sees me successfull in sales - this month - not soo much - but I have the choice to put my kids first and I am appreciative of that - even if my dreams are put on the back burner a bit - priorities were alligned this month the right way - even if for my career it was the hard way -

I am a sloppy mess lately - crying over everything -BTW: Treyner was put on an all-star team at this camp - went against the current college players and came out at 1/2 with 0 goals scored on him - so I am very proud and very much sobbing...Thank you for the kind words - I think that for me - I fought for Treyner from the time I knew I was pregnant (his Dad and I were not married at the time and his father's mom thought I should give him up for adoption and I was 19, scared and alone but stood my ground tha that just wasn't my choice I could make) and fight for him still...for all the kids truthfully - But Treyner said he had a dream when he arrived on camp - that he was in a field and I was there and all of a sudden a war started and people were shooting at him and I was just laying there..watching and not helping...and I said to him that this was the first time in his life...I can not help him...that literally people will be shooting at him (soccer balls) and all I can do is watch...that this was his battle for his future and he was now the man in charge of his destiny -

Okay - I will re -evaluate my itenerary - we originally had thought of CG - not Bistro de Paris - I will research and let you know..thank you for the great ideas...

Karen

I would give anything to have them back for just a day - for them to realize how awesome their grandchildren and great grandchildren are doing..I miss fishing something firece...I hate eating fish though and know the whole catch and release isn't full-proof - but maybe I can get a liscense and find someone who would appreciate a fish drive-by...just on't make me fillet it or take it off the hook - I can handle the worms though...:woohoo:

Seriously - the effort and time in your response is greatly appreciated...

Bistro de Paris is one of the best kept secrets, but it is not on the DDP. Also, they take the authentic thing really far there and the tables are teeny tiny and all really, really close together. But food and service are wonderful. :goodvibes

Bistro de Paris is one of the best kept secrets, but it is not on the DDP.

I just found this out today when I called to make ADRs for our trip next month! We're AP holders, so the DDP hasn't been available to us (unless we wanted to buy ADDITIONAL park tickets that we couldn't use!:sad2:) This year they opened it up so that we could get the AP room rate & buy the DDP:woohoo:

Honestly - I consider myself a Disney veteran - but this dining thing has had DH and I tied up in spreadsheets! After going over and over and OVER again how this is all supposed to work, we finally called to make our ADRs today and found that we need to go back to the drawing board. We're only going for 3 nights, but wanted to hit California Grill, Narcoosees and Bistro de Paris for our dinners - the first two require 2 TS credits, the last isn't available on the plan. To top it off, we usually split an appetizer, a salad and an entreé, but none of the restaurants will allow us to split meals.

DH's solution? He called today and upgraded us to the DELUXE Dining Plan.

I don't think we're saving any money - and now I'm wondering just how much weight I can possibly gain over three days! :p

Also, they take the authentic thing really far there

Yeah, I know!:thumbsup2

Oh, you mean, that's a bad thing? :upsidedow

and the tables are teeny tiny and all really, really close together. But food and service are wonderful. :goodvibes

I've never felt uncomfortable at the tables - and I'm not teeny tiny - but I do agree about the food and service!:flower3:

I love the fact someone sees me successfull in sales

I sold Princess House Crystal for years - I know what you need to put into that kind of sales to get to a top level - you MUST be good!

- this month - not soo much - but I have the choice to put my kids first and I am appreciative of that - even if my dreams are put on the back burner a bit - priorities were alligned this month the right way - even if for my career it was the hard way

Ten years from now you won't remember your sales figures for this month - but I'm sure you'll remember every detail about your son's all-star soccer game and the other opportunities he's had this month.

that literally people will be shooting at him (soccer balls) and all I can do is watch...that this was his battle for his future and he was now the man in charge of his destiny

:rotfl:I LOVE this analogy!

...Bistro de Paris - I will research and let you know..thank you for the great ideas...

Yeah, well. See the post above. Apparently it's not part of the DDP! :sad2:
Definitely worth it for a VERY special occasion if you don't mind paying for it!

Karen

I don't have kids so I don't know what you're going through with Treyner leaving, but you sound like an awesome mom and you know he knows the right things to do.

ICE is awesome and I highly recommend it. Parkas are handed out but I suggest you bring gloves as well. My mother thought she needed long underwear, a scarf, and boots, but I think you'll be able to manage for the 30-45 minutes it takes you to see the exhibit. ;)

Hi everyone - Thanks for the ICE info and the restaurant/kid advice...

I just got out of the hospital for some kidney issues...so I will have this weekend while the kids are gone to Iowa for a college showcase for Treyner...to get caught up on housework and the boards...still not feeling very well so I am not allowed to travel...ugh...

Anyway - be patient with me please - I will post more after I recover a bit...:)
