Told her last night DD was having a sleepover for her birthday. She calls this morning at 10:15 singing happy birthday. I jokingly said "Boy you're taking your life in your hands calling this early." She said fine, then I'll hang up. I said "No she's here hang on". Mom gave her the bums rush and won't return my calls or messages. I didn't realize my mom had sent her a message on Facebook (there it is again) and DD had responded, so my mom knew she was up.

The older she gets, the more I apparently hurt her feelings. I don't mean to, but I guess intent doesn't matter. So now I'm in the doghouse. :sad2:

...may I ask why you said that? I'm NOT judging - I'm just curious...

....DEFINITELY ignoring your mother. definitely. yeah, definitely. facebook. yeah. DEFINITELY......

:rotfl2: I'm sure you could post the same thing to her about me. :rotfl2:

Cause the last time DD had a sleepover, they didn't got to bed until about 6:30 a.m. so they slept in late that day. At least the teenagers I know are very cranky when they haven't had enough sleep and honestly, so am I. I definitely could have handled it better, no doubt about that.

....not for even one moment did I take that line as insulting....I thought that your mother never gets up early, and that for her to be up at an 'ungodly hour' was against her nature and therefore, 'dangerous' to her. Did she realize that you were referring to your yet-to-get-sleep DD?? I can't imagine how she'd find that comment insulting...:confused3 It sounds like she's just trying to 'pick-a-fight', KWIM?

It's funny. She and I used to be soooo close. She was even there in the delivery room when DD was born. The past few years though, I don't know. :confused3 I love my mother more than anyone (except DD), but we just seem to bang heads all the time. Like this morning. I sent her a message on FB after she hung up and yet again she had to pass a comment about how she's not allowed to post on DD's Facebook page. Jez, LET IT GO. I guess a lot of this is because I'm an only child with an only child, so we're all we have, you know? I definitely need to learn to have more patience with my mom, but sometimes I just don't have the patience. I mean, did she need to call IMMEDIATELY upon DD responding to her text? She knew DD was having a sleepover and would have company. Seems like we're now entrenched in our roles -- I'm the nasty ungrateful daughter and she's the annoying martyr. What a combo!;)

....wow. Sounds like a 'no-win' sitch.....funny, but my mom and I NEVER got along when I was younger. My sister, who is 7 years younger than me, always got along with her. I was never really jealous of that, but I always felt slighted because I think that part of the reason was because I am so much like my grandmother (HER mom) and they were like oil and water! Now that we both are older, and a bit wiser and more mellow, we get along much better. I know that I will never have the relationship that my sister and her have, but that's okay....I spent most of my life, as the oldest of 4 siblings, trying to please and always fell short. If I cooked spaghetti, she commented on why I didn't prepare meatloaf, or if I did a load of white wash, how come the dark clothes weren't clean, or, if I vacuumed the bedrooms [upstairs], why didn't I vacuum downstairs too, and on and on it went....it probably helps that she retired in Puerto Rico to take care of my widowed grandmother (my mom is an only child) so we are very far away from each other...

Ugh, the relationships of mothers and daughters. I'll get mine 'cause I am a daughter and the mother to a daughter. :rotfl2:

I ignore family drama.

But, I don't ignore birthdays. So....

Happy Birthday, PrincessK!!!!

Next year, give me her number and I'll let little R call her when she wakes up at 6:30.

Little R (currently 22 mos) put a sock on her hand, pointed it at her Daddy, said pew, pew (think Star Wars blasters), then said, "I kill you." Isn't she precious?

I'm sure PrincessK would appreciate it. And I'm sure my mom would appreciate you sending her to pew pew me. :lmao:

From now on I will just have to make sure that I keep my funny comments to myself. Guess mom just doesn't get my sense of humor anymore.

On a happier note - American Music Awards -- right now Enrique Inglesis. Man is he HOT!

We have on Dirty Jobs and we're trying to get little R back to bed. She took a late nap, but had to get up for a bath and have dinner. She's been crying ever since. That's just not like her. My MIL took our oldest 4 for the weekend, they'll be returning tomorrow in time for my ob appt. DH and I may have a few quiet hours tonight. :goodvibes
