The IDIOT in the Kroger Express Line....

Or anyone who waits until being told the total to START to unearth the wallet or checkbook from their pocket or purse. Makes me nuts...as if the process of having to pay was something completely new to them.

Exactly! It's so annoying. When I check out I have the in my hand ready to give to the checker or I'm chomping at the bit to swipe my card.

Good thing I was not in that line behind you, or I would have had to say something. Those express lines are for a purpose. Going one, two, three items over is not a big deal, but you clearly violated.

Did you read the OP's entire post??? She clearly stated that she did not intentionally use the express lane and that it was a mistake. She did not realize it to be an express lane until after she paid. She also stated she felt horrible about it. You ever made a mistake??? :confused3

Eh, I certainly wouldn't think twice about it. It was a mistake and the cashier didn't say anything.

Personally, as the person behind you , I would have been a lot more annoyed if you used a check to pay. Why do that???

Are you serious?! Some people don't have a debit card or credit card and choose to use a check. If someone was being a jerk and obviously annoyed that I was writing a check, I would take a looooong, loooooong, looooong time to write that check.

I was at the store today and they had two express lanes open that were empty and when I got into one of the regular lines I noticed that people with under 15 items were all in the regular lanes.
I was confused lol
I might actually have seventeen items. I count the two reusable bags I 'have to' buy because I left the other fifty at home :rotfl2:; or I may want to buy a magazine or two, or a candy bar. If the sign says "X items or fewer" and there's a chance I'll end up with more, I won't use that line. And if the sign says "X items or less"? I have a moral aversion to bad grammar. I CAN'T use those lines!

I know, these people are the worst. Like the fact that they need to pay is a complete surprize to them. :headache:

Yes, I read the post. Like I said, if I was in line, I would have said something.

At our local Kroger they'll sometimes have an employee directing shoppers into different check-out lanes. Well once I had a cart with more than 15 items - I'd say I had less than 25 but definitely more than 15. The employee told me just to go to the Express Line (for 15 or less items) because that lane was empty. I did and proceeded to empty my cart. Then several customers with less than 15 items got in line behind me and glared at me. Figures! I felt so bad. I turned to the person behind me, pointed to the employee that directed me there and said "She made me do it!". Ugh.

There are really places in this country where you CAN'T buy alcohol on Sunday??

I LOVE learning new things each day! Weird.....but NEW!!!

You did not mean to do it so I won't flame you but this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I am very much a rule follower and if I even have one item over I will not go into the express lane. Yes, I'm am the person standing in line behind you counting your items to see if you go over or not. There was a lady in front of me at Walmart a few days ago that was 4 items over the limit and I wanted to say something to her so bad but I didn't.

The Walmart near my house is ALWAYS packed. I once went through the 20 or Less line. We had to wait quite a while in line... enough time for the lady behind me to count my items. She let me know as I walked away that I had 21 items. You would have thought I just killed someone! :rotfl:

Got one better! There are places where you can't buy alcohol in the grocery store! :scared1::lmao: Gotta love the PA state stores. Just a few years ago (4? 5?), they started Sunday hours and very recently (last year or so), a few grocery store chains have been granted the authority to sell 6-packs. The concept of buying liquor at the local WalMart is just strange/cool to me!

Welcome to Georgia! It doesn't make any sense but I guess they want people to be sober during church services;)

Can't buy any on Sunday in MN! So...we run for the border (WI) and buy there. So your state makes money off my state that way :)

The only thing the grocery stores sell here is 3:2. Not exactly what I'm shopping for!

Really? Massachusetts is a very little bit ahead of Pennsylvania. First there were NO Sunday liquor sales, period. That existed for a few hundred years. Then, because people were driving to New Hampshire, liquor stores in towns within ten miles of the NH border could be open Sundays. Then all package stores could stay open the four Sundays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now, they can all stay open seven days a week - but it took about twenty years for that progression.

As for grocery stores, well... four stores per chain, statewide, are allowed to sell liquor. That's it. This was legislated a number of years ago; then recently, voters were allowed to, well, vote on whether to allow all grocery stores to sell liquor.

Nope. Horrors! Being able to buy your ENTIRE week's list in ONE location? Never!! Not here! Never! No way!

Oh! But we DID just get the Restaurant Rejuvenation Act! Finally, restaurants can sell alcoholic beverages on Sunday mornings, starting at 10 AM. Want a Mimosa or Bloody Mary with your Eggs Benedict? A mere month ago, that would have been impossible - well, unless you ate late or dawdled at your table. But now, yep - you can buy a drink in a Massachusetts restaurant before noon on a Sunday!!!!

I did this yesterday too,but with a full cart. It was my fault, I was looking to see were the good baggers where. Well after I put all my items on the belt, the cashier told me next time to look at the sign I was in the 25 items or less line. I told him I was sorry and he should of told me because I would of moved. He said it was fine, but I keep saying how sorry I was. I did tell him I was looking for the good baggers and he did say how do I rank? I said Iam in your line arent I.:rotfl:

We don't have beer/wine/liquor in our grocery stores in MD at all, either. And the county next to mine doesn't allow alcohol sales on Sunday (Prince George's Co. if anyone is wondering). I get a kick out of visiting relatives in VA and seeing all of the wines & beers available in the stores.

I don't believe that would be true. They seem to mostly scan each item individually, even if they are the same product.

It isn't "true". Notice the little "wink". Its a handy rationalization however.

Here in Manitoba, Canada you can't buy alcohol at a Walmart or any grocery store. The only place to get it is either at a beer vendor or at an LC (liquor commision). They are open on Sunday but just from noon til six, just like all other stores. They are not open 24 hours for the rest of the week either. I went to Disney with my friend when I was 24 and I thought the coolest thing ever was to buy a beer at 7-11:worship: Definitely can't do that here. I'm pretty sure the rules are the same across Canada but I don't want to say for sure.
