The "I gotta do something to pass the time"pre-trip report

wow!
you're going so soon!
=]
i bet you are so excited!!
haha
me and my family are leaving in 1 month in 2 days!
we finally started writing our PTR!
haha
it's not as good as yours but its pretty good. haha:rotfl:

Thanks for reading my PTR...I will go over and read yours.:)
The time is catching up with us.I'm excited that it is so close but on the other hand I don't have anything ready and there is so much to do.:confused3

Good luck tomorrow! I'll be thinking about you and praying for good news.

Count me in the washing machine woes. DH and I stopped at Lowes tonight to start looking. Our washing machine is 20 yrs old and is on its last legs - clothes are coming out pretty wet. We figure we want to replace it before it dies.

We keep this up and poor Sare will never have a day off with all of our washers dying and needing burials. We did look at Lowes but found a better deal at Rex's they sent us a special coupon(20% off) in the mail that they send out to customers who have bought a major appliance within the year, well I guess our big screen t.v. counted. so we will go tomorrow(Sunday) that is when the sale is and the washer we are getting will be $85.oo cheaper. WE only buy Maytag). As for our dishwasher that will have to wait...why buy a new one when I already have 2 old ones here(DH and DS):rolleyes1

So just to check in, i'm now up to four cremation orders and how many burials? Y'all are swampin' me!

Glad you arrived safely Vickey have a good day tomorrow!

Hope you are enjoying your week end.
Here is the eulogy for my washer

We are saddened by the parting of our dear beloved Maytag..who washed many of my DH and DS's dirty socks and unmentionables that no human being would ever touch.:scared: You were there when you were needed regardless of the time, always willing to lend a helping agitator and spin cycle.
You will be sadly missed but not forgotten...thanks for all the years of service you provided for us. May you go to the special place knowing that you were appreciated.

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:       pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thinking of you! Glad you arrived safely! Good luck today!

:lmao: :rotfl2:

  THANKS.....They were needed and appreciated.

Sorry I didn't post sooner, I just have a little trouble sometimes dealing with this visits to Cleveland Clinic.

I made it to my 5 year mark, and having said that I will also say that that is remarkable considering they didn't expect me to make it past the first year and then when I hit the 3rd year the doctor told my DH that I must have a guardian angel. Now 5 years later he just says it is due to me being stubborn.

Finished up with the last doctor at 6:00pm yesterday and we had orginally planned on staying the night and traveling home today, but I wanted to come home so bad that we decided at 1:00am to head home it takes about 5 hours to drive. Came home and it all caught up with me..every ounce of my being collasped and broke down DH held me and let me lie there in his arms till I finally dozed off.Now that I am awake I had to get on here to vent alittle to my friends.:lovestruc

Unless you have been to a major clinic you can't imagine what it is like. First off it is wonderful to see so many being helped it is wonderful to see and hear the stories of the survivors. All you have to do is look around the waiting rooms and know that God is good. It makes all other problems in life seem so small.
But on the other hand it is bittersweet ...there are those like me who have been through it and are blessed enough to be able to come back just for a check up and then there are those who are there because there isn't any other hope available.
You see it all..burn victims, cancer patients, accident victims who have lost limbs and then you see the children and your heart melts that is when you count your blessings. That is when you truly realise how special the parents and loved ones of those children are. So please remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

First off my results were okay...nothing major just a few little problems that we will deal with. Some of my counts were off, but that could be due to alot of different reasons such as sinuses acting up to being stressed out...when the doctor asked me if I'd been under any stress I :rotfl: then proceeded to tell him "does being laid up on the couch for almost 10 days after falling with a banged up knee swelling to the size of a football count or could it be the fact that this is my 5 year mark, it couldn't be the fact that I leave in 16 more days to the most magical place on Earth and I don't have a thing packed,or my house decorated for Christmas not to mention the fact that I have a big Thanksgiving Dinner planned at my house in 5 days and I still have Christmas shopping to do."DAH:eek:
(He just looked at me smiled:) and said " Okay, so stress is not the issue" but let's have you re-tested in 1 month just to be sure.
And of course they re-adjusted my meds:mad: which one of those is steroids and I hate it when they alter that it takes a strain on my body not to mention my mind/emotions (and that is one thing that doesn't need to be messed with).
But all other tests were good.:cool1: :cheer2:

DH is resting on the couch watching t.v.
I think I will start my Christmas decorating which I usually don't do until day after Thanksgiving but seeing that my older brother is getting married the day after I won't have much of a chance. Besides I want to keep busy for the next 16 days. I will also bring out the luggage(can't let the cats see it they get upset they do know that means mommy and daddy are going away) and start organizing a few things we need to take.

THANKS again for listening to my rambling and venting.

Love you all :grouphug:

:goodvibes  :cloud9: :yay:  :cheer2: :dance3: :grouphug:

I'm sooooo glad your good!! Your post gave me goosebumps and tears in my eyes!

Your DH sounds so absolutely wonderful! I love that he said it's you being stubborn! I think in a situation like yours not letting the cancer win is ultimately the best thing! Your a fighter and you won't let big, nasty cancer win!

You have a busy 16 days ahead of you!! But remember to rest between now and then! I'm sure your still drained from the past few days! Don't get all exhausted!

Bring on the Disney and Christmas spirit!!!!

I think my DH is absolutely the BEST. He is my rock. I know that these last coule of days were really hard on him and my sons.
I am a middle child so it's all about winning:thumbsup2
You have two choices in life, lie down give in and give up..... or..... keep living and FIGHT. I choose to live so I fought, I had every reason to my sons,my dear husband, friends and lots of family.

I have worn myself out today:guilty: ....I know you said to take it easy...but I had to put up my Christmas tree (it kept calling me saying put me up---put me up) so quess what I put it up then it seemed as if all the boxes that were marked Christmas were calling my name....I tried to ignore them but they just got louder and louder. And since my DH was resting on the couch watching the Ohio State football game. I had to do something:confused3 So now I have the inside decorated ,mind you I have 4 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,2 living rooms , 1 dining room, a kitchen, and a laundry room that I decorate.I put two big trees up and then a tree of some sort in every room yes I am one of those wierd people who decorates even the bathrooms.:rolleyes1
We bought two Disney ornaments when we were there 5years ago so when I unpack them I always make my DH help me hang them every year. They are the first ones to go on the tree. I took pictures of them so I will post them one day when I get my rear in gear and figure it out. I know I have said that before.
I will do the outside tomorrow, after we come back from getting our washing machine. If I'm able to move any of my body parts:sad2:

Thank goodness I taught my sons how to cook my youngest son cooked dinner for us tonight we had grilled chicken( he loves George Foreman),red potatoes and green beans. He even made dessert:thumbsup2 banana pudding (okay so he used instant pudding). If he didn't cook dinner I would've had to eat cereal like Sare

I think that it for now,I shut up and visit with my DH he is till watching football "YUCK" so I will just snuggle up next to him and read /post on my Dis.

GOOD MORNING

15 more days till DISNEY

Okay, I was able to get out of bed this morning sore but non the less out.
I go buy my new washer today and then it doesn't get delivered till Tuesday....I hope we have enough unmentionables to wear I haven't been able to do laundry in a week, if not they will just have to turn them inside out and wear them a couple more days that way. As for me I could always borrow a couple of my patients Depends( disposable adult undies for those who don't know what they are).

I forgot to mention something that happened n my visit to the clinic my specialist must've remembered that we had talked about going to Disney at my 5 year mark because they presented me with a card (with all the Disney gang on it)and everyone of the nurses in his office signed it. Plus they made me a Disney goody bag that had a small stuffed Mickey, all kinds of Disney candy such as a sucker that spins,Disney cookies (like the animal crackers you buy for the little ones in a box) lip gloss with Cinderella on it,a Mickey ink pen, and a small snow globe with Mickey and Minnie plus a few other items in it all Disney related. It was so sweet of them.

::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :ccat: :donald: :sulley: :tigger: :tink: :hmghost: :smickey: :mickeyjum the gangs all here helping me get through the next 15 days

i'm glad your check up went well even though it was so stressful for you. You're so strong!

My DH hooked up the washer and then proceeded to wash 2 loads to see how it worked. (You think I end a good thing...no way I was like maybe you should try a third load just to make sure it works)
I keep telling you we have alot in common we know how to train our DH's to do laundry.:laundy:
It was exactly 1 week since my washer died so we were so ready this coming from someone who doesn't wear anything twice.

Glad you are back sorry to hear you had some stress.I do hope the wonderful moments out weighed the stressfull ones.
I'll go over to your PTR and read all about it.

Congratulations on your 5 year mark! What an exhausting few days you went through at Cleveland Clinic. I know what you mean about the big hospital. Having worked and been a patient at Johns Hopkins it is quite overwhelming. Sorry about the bloodwork and I hope that it is stress-related. You need to keep closing your eyes and picturing Mickey running up to you with his arms wide open to welcome you home. Steroids are no fun (again, the nurse in me kicking in) and I hope you’re doing well with coping with the newest adjustment. Vent anytime! Your DS cooking dinner – I’m impressed. Shows you’ve done a good job in raising him.

Enjoy your new toy. Isn’t it amazing that when we have a new appliance we fall in love. Not for long, but it’s great. We’re thinking of buying a Samsung that is on sale on Black Friday.

Your trip is getting so close!

I do believe it is stress related with a little of sinus related symptoms in thrown in. Steriods are definetly no fun I have been on and off them for 5 years and being a nurse I know you know what it is like. But it is what is needed.
Both my sons know how to cook, clean(maybe not like I do ) and do laundry...
so they will make good husbands (like their dad) only problem is they are not ready for MOM to pick them out a wife regardless of how much I stress to them that I want granchildren that I can take to Disney. So if there are any good girls out there please send them my way so I can interview them for the honor and privelage of being my daughter-in-law:thumbsup2

I hope you get a really good deal on your washer.Black Friday sales:scared1: you are one brave lady to go shopping on that day.

Well gota get off here and go to see my patients they might not remember or know much but they sure do know how to tell time and let you know if you are late.:confused3 :confused3

BTW Sherri how how you feeling????

We normally don't wake up in the middle of the night on Black Friday but we will go out later in the day as the early risers are going back home to nap. I won't be exhausted from cooking all day on Thursday because we're going out for dinner. YUM!

Thanks for asking about me - I started feeling better at the end of last week and went outside to do some raking this weekend. My back didn't like that and now my cold has returned and trying to turn into a sinus infection. So, I'm sitting here (at work) with a glass of water and cough drops in front of me. I keep telling myself I just need to make it through 5 PM tomorrow and then I'm off for 4 days. :cool1: One of the things I never got in the 25 yrs of hospital nursing was a whole Thanksgiving weekend off and even though I've had it off the past 3 yrs. it's a novelty to me still.

Hope your clients are well. They definitely get into their routines. Who will take care of them when you're with the mouse?

i just had this really great mental image of someone from Mousekeeping showing up to look after them, extra mouse ears and a bathroom fastpass in each hand... :rotfl:

How old are your sons? I have a friend....

truly I do, she's wonderful girl who was terribly hurt 10 years ago (yes, 10 years ago) and is so affraid to be burned again she makes excuses why every single guy in the world is wrong for her. UGGH!! She kills me!! She is sooooo wonderful and she wants to love someone again but she holds herself back!!!

I hope your feel well and adjusting to your new meds!!!! The ticker is getting lower and lower!!!!!!!!

I have three Thanksgiving dinners planned....Wednesday evening we have to go to my cousins house(she celebrates the day earlier because her daughter eats Thanksgiving with her in laws), then Thursday we will have dinner here with my sons and their friends(these are 6 other boys that grew up with up boys and you'd think they were mine) lastly Friday my very large family( sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles cousins etc. aprox. 60+ people) always rents out this banquet room and gather it has a kitchen, a large room that we sat up tables to eat and let the kids run around and play also there is a room that has couches and a t.v. for the guys to watch football. We usually start around 11:00am and don't end till all the food is gone:scared1:
I have to make several covered dishes for the away diners and the works for our dinner.

I can relate to having to work most all the holidays it wasn't until about the last 6 years that I was able to make my own hours. And because my DH worked for a steel mill he always worked holidays until 2 years ago when he retired after 35 years now he works part time at a Krogers store.

Silly girl you should've rested until all was well out racking leaves:confused:
Keep drinking the fluids and sucking on those cough drops but mostly get your butt home and rest. Sinus infections are horrible.

My one patient has family in California and her daughter will come in to stay while I'm away playing with the mouse. Then the other two have family that usually only visits on week ends but when I go away they do step up to the plate.

i just had this really great mental image of someone from Mousekeeping showing up to look after them, extra mouse ears and a bathroom fastpass in each hand... :rotfl:

Bathroom fast pass:lmao: :lmao: not to mention the specail rides they can offer such as the wheel chair whirl.....the bedpan ride....:confused3

My oldest is 30(please don't do the math then you'll know my age:scared1: ) youngest is 26.
Oldest says the reason he isn't married is because he wants a marriage like his dad and I have and that is hard to find today. And jokingly he always says "why buy the farm when he has all the farm animals he wants" Like I stated he is just joking ,he also had been in a relationship for several years when he found out she wasn't as honest as she should have been about some important things. I think it burned him.
As for my youngest he still lives at home and says he doesn't want to get married until he can afford everything that's important to maintain a marriage.Tried telling him the struggle of working together to get it was the best part of who we are. He is also my computer tech so he is always busy either at work or programing something at home. In his defense he does have a GOOD start on building that financial nest.

This is the second day on the med adjustment and it is rough I always get a major migraine:headache: which I am getting today and I get nausea:sick: .Not to mention the hot flashes the steroids give me. But it usually only last for a week so I still have time to adjust before the MOUSE.

Awww! Your boys sounds wonderful!!! They must have been raised right ;) I'm not very good at math so figuring out your age... You must be 29!!!

I hope the meds take it easy on you and your feeling well!!!
