DAY 2 – Monday 31st January
After a scary dream we went for breakfast at Inventions and met Baloo
before having a brilliant breakfast of Pancakes, croissants, maple syrup, doughnuts and bacon (not all together!) We went back to our hotel room and then set out for the end of EMH and rode IASM (this is open in EMH to replace Peter Pan) tea cups and Dumbo. We went on Pirates and queued up to meet Winnie the Pooh. He liked our scarves but acted out that he wished it was him and not Mickey Mouse so we told him we would say it was him and he seemed happy. I love that characters interact with us even though we are ‘adults’.
We went over to the Studios and used out hotel fastpass to go on Tower of Terror.
We went on Slinky dog and I ate chips and chicken nuggets.
We walked down the Parisian street that runs parralell with Toy Story Playland and useful to avoid crowds, pausing briefly to lean against a lamp post.
We nipped back to the hotel so we could have a little sit down and thaw. As we came out we bumped into Chip, Dale and Eeyore.
Then we went back to the park and rode BTM, Pirates, Pinocchio, Snow White (which we had nicknamed Shiny Pomme after what we think the witch says on the ride) and had a hot chocolate in Victoria’s and headed for where the parade was going to start.
Earlier that day our ears had been SO cold that we had searched everywhere for ear muffs that we saw loads of them back in September but there were none to be had. Eventually, to stop our ears freezing off we bought tigger hats...
The parade is shorter, which in that temperature was ideal. No one wanted to be standing about for too long. There was plenty of gaps to stand in, usually the parade is so packed, we didn’t have to get into position very early at all. They have not included the lion king / jungle book float or alice / Pinocchio and the Princes and Princesses walk instead of having their special float. Ariel and Jasmine still have their float though.
Because we stood right at the start the whole thing had gone by in 10 minutes so we headed to Pirates and were allowed to go round twice – this pleased us IMMENSELY!
We came back to the hotel room and then headed to Cafe Mickey’s for Garlic Mushrooms, Pocahontas Salad and the Profiterole with Mint sorbet which was gorgeous. We met Eeyore, Hook, Smee, Chip, Dale and Pluto. We always spend a lot of time in Cafe Mickey’s – three courses tend to take us a while to eat! We came back through the shops. Still enamoured with the idea of walking back in the direction of the park instead of the other way to the Cheyenne!
Day 3 – Tuesday.
A lie in! A Disney lie in! We didn’t have breakfast until 9:15! We met the white rabbit (We’ve never met him before!)
and on the way out from breakfast Eeyore and Rabbit.
When we were eating there was a little girl (i’d say 6/7) who had got her own apple juice and filled it so full that she was concentrating the hardest she ever had in her life on carrying it back to her place. A wonderfully smiley CM was behind her and released this joyus laugh at how well the girl was doing. It was such a nice sweet moment and the girl didn’t spill a drop.
We went to the studios first to queue for Crushes Coaster. I enjoyed this more than last year when it gave me a nasty headache. We went on RC Racer and Tower of Terror. We went to The Art of Animation. I haven’t seen this since my first trip in 2006 and I love the montage film. And it made me want to see Tangled, after watching the trailer. We met Sulley. Then, we went to Stitch, Live. I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before. It’s a combination of two of my favourite things, Stitch and clever film technique.
We came back to the hotel and met Mickey, Donald, Rabbit, Eeyore and Goofy. Goofy was being very silly and he stole our hats!
We went to the Disneyland Park and headed to Cable car for a sandwich and a cup of tea.
We then discovered Pirates was CLOSED! We didn’t know what to do!
We then walked on Snow White and Pinnochio and IASW. Pirates was still closed. We went on Phantom Manor and used our Hotel Fast Passes for BTM.
Then Pirates was open! (phew) we went on twice!
On the first go there was a group of six boys. I would say 14 years old. Just when they’ve learnt to swear properly. And they had. Out of the six one of them, who fancied himself the ring leader was really acting up. It was clear (to us amateur psychologists) that he didn’t like the dark and was trying to use bravado to hide his unhappiness. I’m fairly tolerant, especially at Disney. But I love pirates and he was bad mouthing it loudly. Yelling to the people in the restaurant and saying “THIS RIDE IS LAME” over and over. Then, he started swearing, loudly and that’s not acceptable. I was sat directly in front of him and on his second use of the F word. I turned and said. “Will you watch your language please. There are children on this boat and they might speak English.” It worked. He didn’t speak for the rest of the ride. His friends then knowing he wouldn’t slam them, started commenting on things about the ride that they liked etc. I think he was more surprised than anything to be “told off” by a girl with Tigger on her head but even if the other occupants didn’t speak English he was still a very annoying silly little boy!
Our second trip on Pirates was much less eventful!
Before we came back we went on Buzz and then went to Annettes. I thought I’d just have a salad. However it was the BIGGEST salad in the history of forever! It had chicken, egg, avocado, cheese and tomato on a forest of salad!
We came home to find our beds were turned down! I have never had a bed turned down for me!!! THEN! We remembered the night before a lady had knocked on our door at about half six. She asked if we were OK and we just said “yes thanks!” so we did ourselves out of a chocolate coin that night!
