The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

I went to the mall after work and was riding the escalator to leave. There was a couple in front of me with a baby stroller. I stayed 4-5 steps behind them because I know sometimes it takes 2-3 more seconds for a couple to get the stroller off the escalator. Well I don't know what this couple was doing and they reach the top. I am about to smack into the woman and say: "OMG!" and she's still not budging!! Then I freak out because the whole escalator shuts up and causes me to take a step forward. I don't know what they were thinking and obviously they weren't. They just dilly-dallied pretty much and next thing you know they don't get the stroller off (oh and I didn't know but there was a little girl inside the stroller the whole time) and their right wheel hits the right side of the escalator and causes it to jam. You know how the handles on the escalators are similar to a conveyor belt and goes around and around? Well their stroller hit something and it caused the conveyer belt to knot and stick out at the top of the escalator and caused it to shut down.

Then the wife is like: "Oopsie, did we do that?" and is chuckling. :sad2: :sad2:

See? I found him!

Alex's search engine keyword: "guy with stamped symbol on forehead" J/k!! :rotfl2:
Right! "TEALC", like I'm gonna remember that! Maybe I can remember "CLEATus"... :rotfl:

My eyelids are dropping more than DS4's baggy drawers, so must be time for me to hit the hay.

Good night, kids! :cloud9:

eek!

It could have been a lot worse :scared:

I did the escalator stroller trick if both of us were together. I tried to avoid it when it was just me.

I've watched kids get hurt when parents put strollers on a bus with the child inside (not strapped in ).

I have had some very kind people help me when my J was a babe. I couldn't take him out and juggle the stroller, baby, diaper bag on and off a city bus.
Finally got front pack and switched to the back frame style as he got older.

We did not have a car until J was 2 yrs old.

Good morning, hyenas!
SUN! Four days in a row of SUN! I can't believe it!!! :yay: :woohoo:

Staley, I somehow missed your response on your dream yesterday. It popped up in my email, so I had to go find it and respond. :)

It was just crazy... I popped the babies out, without much trouble... One was smaller, 4 pounds or so, and the other was 6 or so. Both girls.. They cleaned us up, and I picked up the babies and took them into the waiting room.. Where my parents were. My dad was just sitting there cleaning his glasses.

Awwww! That made me tear up, it's so sweet!

There are so many sweet components to it that I can see would be comforting to you. First, the babies are both good sized and (presumably) healthy! Girls, how sweet. (Do you have a feeling they're girls? I presumed from the Wrestlemania going on at the last ultrasound that they're both rowdy boys! :lmao: )

Your dad is there, of course, which is something I know you wish, and regret he won't know these babies. He's doing something perfectly ordinary, like he's totally relaxed and just doin' fine, you know? And your parents are together. This is like the "perfect world" scenario for these babies to come into the world. :goodvibes

As you probably already know, dreams are a way for your brain to think about and work through things that have been on your mind awhile. Here's what I get out of it, without putting a spiritual spin on it:
1. You are looking forward to the birth of two healthy babies
2. Maybe you suspect they are going to be girls, not boys or one of each
3. You've been thinking about your dad, wishing he could see these beautiful babes, just like he was there for the others
4. Since your dad isn't going to be there IRL, you see him in the dream, which would be very comforting.

The spiritual spin, I think, would be that your dad is with you, and will be with you on the day these babes arrive, and he'll be so happy to welcome two new little ones into the family. :goodvibes

What a beautiful dream! Did you feel really relaxed when you woke up?

My kinda person...screw something up really bad and laugh!:lmao: :thumbsup2 There is a certain enjoyment in life to watching things go snafu...as long as no one is seriously hurt.

Another exciting day at the Irwin house. DH took the kids to elk camp. I decided to stay home and go to the laundrymat and wash the sleeping bags. Get rid of that end of summer funk and make them nice and clean for DH's elk hunting trip next week.

Can someone please tell me when they raised the price of washing from $1.25 a load to $4.00!:scared1: Those were the medium front loaders, the giant front loader was $6.00. Guess it's been a while since I went to the laundrymat. :lmao: Anyway, by the time I washed & dried everything, and spent 2-1/2 hours there, I realize I should have just paid them the $8 (regular bags) and $11(oversize bags) and had them launder them and pick them up the next day. Oh well, live and learn.

I can remember year's ago the laundrymat was crowded on Saturdays, so I rush down at 8am. Only a couple of other people came in the entire time I was there. However there was a steady stream of older men dropping off their week's dirty laundry to be washed for 60 cents a pound. Hmmmm....got me to thinking....I might weigh some of my laundry and see if it would make sense to have someone else do it...esp. after DH goes back to work.
