The Hot New Toy For Christmas is...

My DD wanted the "Dream Life Plug in TV Game" and it is sold out everywhere. I went to CT to do some xmas shopping this past weekend and I got the last one at TRU. If it's that hard to find now, I'd hate to see it closer to xmas.

Wow, we've Elefun for two years and it has always worked great. My son's preschool had it and it worked well there, too!

Hmmm, with so many good reviews maybe I just had bad luck, I may have to see about replacing ours again, DS4 keeps asking to play with it.

WE have DD4 and DD2 so I think our list weill be

anything Kim Possible
Fisher Price Star Stage thing
more playdoh
maybe a Vsmile
Tumble Time Tigger
Mega Bloks Wizard of Oz set
maybe a little tykes Vanity
various Games (cranium brand ) Disney princess monopoly and a couple movies

We also have Elefun and the girls love it sometimes if the trunk isn't straight the fan has trouble blowing up the butterflies but it is a big hit here!

Does anybody have one of those ready beds? I was thinking of telling my in-laws to get the girls one mostly for when we visit them but I don't know much about them! :rolleyes1

Can someone tell me the difference between VSmile and Leapster? I could use some help! I'm just starting to research for dd who will be 3 1/2 in December.

The Amazon reviews seem to be divided. Any other ones I should consider? The Pixter doesn't sound like a hit.

Thanks!

It isn't just you! Our Elefun was bad too. I say "was" because it has gone to the Goodwill. The butterflies didn't fly around at all, just up, out and on the floor. My kids were very disappointed. I never thought it might be defective!

My DS is 6 (will be 7 in a few weeks), and he LOVES his PS2! We've never had any trouble finding games for his age group, BUT, having said that...all he's asking for this year is a GameCube!

I preordered the PS2 before it came out. I was disappointed how few kids games were available at first...or even for the first year. Now there are more available. My PS2 is also the only DVD player in the house so I could justify the purchase for that. ;)

Jean- I did find that article and many more. Looks pretty cool. I like how small it is. I think it would be a good idea to wait for this one instead of buying the Gamecube now. I know the gamecube games will play in the new Nintendo Revolution but they didn't say if the gameboy games will still work or not???

Great ideas!
I saw on Regis and Kelly a game you hook up to your TV. GO GO TV Video game? It looked fun. You interact with your TV by for example, juggling balls in the air. There were a few games in all.
A cute racing car track where you shake your cars and put them on the track and they go. The cars were bigger (5 inches). Maybe ages 3-8? Playskool?

Thanks for the awesome thread! :goodvibes Today I went to Target to look @ the Go Go TV...I got it for 50% off. It was regularly 59.99 and I got it for 29.98. :earseek: Also, I purchased the Wack A Mole Game it was regularly 19.99...the clearance tag said 13.98, but I then scanned it and it was 8.98. :teeth: So, if you are looking to purchase Go Go Tv check out your local Targets. I'm going to keep my eye out to see if it will go down in price. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Anyone else find out any other good deals for this years "hot toy" :wave2:

Oh great... now I have to go check out this fly pen thingy! So far I 've gotten the cartwheeling tigger, the My little Pony that moves and a walking R2D2 robot. My 5 year old really wants the Roboraptor- but $100 seems like ALOT for a robot dinosaur that will probably hold his attention for a few weeks... I have last years Robosapien to prove it!

Keep the ideas coming!

That Fly pen computer looks great. My DD10 wants this for Christmas. So I guess I'll be buying this when it comes out on 10/16. I think it is really going to be a hot item this year.

hi just reading the predictions from you guys thought you might like to know the hot toy in the UK this year is Roboraptor which is an amazing interactive robot dinosaur. it is around £ 90 thats around 160 dollars . i hope it is not too early to wish you guys a merry christmas and a happy new year !!!

Haven't read through the whole thread yet, so my apologies if this is repeat info. Just saw this amazing toy at Sam's...almost picked up for DS, but it was $99. We just don't spend that much on Christmas ($200 total for all 3 kids...and they get plenty, believe me...I shop all year, get sales, etc.). But if you are looking for this, Sam's has a good price.

I wish I could say it wasn't true but it is!! at least here. My eigth grader is begging for one because all of her friends have had theirs for "years".(most of Her friends are spoiled beyond recognition but that's another story). Last week I saw that Disney is coming out with a smaller version(cheaper too!) and grandma is thinking of getting it for her....13 yo says they're cool.

Go ahead and flame me, but all 3 of my kids (3, 4, and 6) have mp3 players...got 'emlast year for Christmas and paid about $20 each...NOT the expensive iPods, but these hold about 50 - 100 songs each. They all love them and I swear by them. Think about it...CDs and pre-schoolers just do not match! LOL Seriously, no more damaged, scratched disks, etc.

BugBugMom-

Now you have me worried. I just ordered the Go Go TV from TRU for $60.00, but now you say it was on clearance at Target. That makes me wonder if it is not a very good toy. Target on-line says they won't even have it in stock for 2-6 weeks. Weird, I wonder what is with that? Hmm. Does anybody already have this toy? Any opinions on it.

Honestly, I think most toys with batteries aren't worth it. Odds are they'll end up in next summers rummage sale for Disney.

...or on ebay ;) I just cleaned out the toybox and found quite a few things from last year that never get used so to ebay they went.

I saw the cutest Elmo the other day at Target. It's the "Shout" version of him. He's so darn cute I almost broke down and bought him, but had to remind myself that I'm too old for toys :teeth:

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and have read lots of great info from many folks. I wanted to share my tip for this holiday season. Living in Maine, rural and cold!, we are getting hit for both gas and heating. I also do contract work for the state, and their new January '05 computer installation has yielded a now 9 month delay in my income. We are also trying to funnel some donations to the south for the hurricane. Because of the state snafu, we did not go to WDW last year, and despite still not having my usual income (it is eventually coming, but cash flow is tight and there is little room for extras right now) AI decided I could not bear another year without going to the World. So as the fall began to set in, and the long winter began inching closer, I bid on a DVC on ebay which I got for a super price. I also cashed in our frequent flyer miles and booked 2 weeks in orlando and new smyrna in feb '06.

Then it hit me. How will we pay for XMas this year? We have 3 darling kiddos age 3, 5, and 6. They have lots of toys, but have gotten bored, since their birthdays and Xmas are really the only time they get much new. I also have wonderful memories of my parents spoiling us as kids and love to be an elf. But given the economy, the disaster and the need to give money to those two and four legged affected by this, and our impending trip to WDW, I wondered if our kids and family would have much of a Christmas this year.

Well, within a few weeks, I got all my Christmas shopping done, and not only for our kids, but also our nieces and nephews and I spent a third of what I usually spend! (which is usually several hundred per child, I am ashamed to admit, but I like quality toys...).

My tip is the Toy Outlet at Amazon/Toysrus. I shopped from the toy outlet for most of the kids items and got incredible deals! An $80 mega blocks castle set for $30, a $40 interactive strawberry shortcake for $10, $50 Graco doll accessory set for $30, an $80 karaoke machine for $10, 4 great leap pad books/cartridges for $14 total. These are just a few of the fantastic deals, and nearly everything was free shipping. When I first went online my shipping was going to be hundreds, and that first night I only ordered the free shipping items. I left everything in my shopping cart that didn't have free shipping. I then visited the site a few times a week, and low and behold, one by one, the items I had in my basket began becoming eligible for free shipping. There are always a few buy2G1f deals and they change the items very frequently. I searched the top 100 selling items first and found what was hot. I also used their reviews and did not order something if it seemed like a poor item. I am really thrilled and spent just a little over $100 for about $250- $300 worth of toys per child. I really saved a ton, and feel that most of the toys will be big winners for my sweeties. I did break down and buy a few full price toys at walmart including a furby ( I had wanted one as and adult when they first came out! Ha!) and some imaginext sets which my sons and their friends play with for hours on end!

So, I was able to get lots of great $5, $10, $15 dollar items that are just super and those prices do not buy much when you shop full price. So no one is getting the hot Darth Vader voice changer or the new Barbie movie items, but I know they'll be thrilled Xmas morning and have no idea that mommy was such a bargain hunter.

Now we are working to save up our spending money for our fabulous week at OKW. I took the advice of one of you to collect change and am already up to $400 including our Disney dollars. I just can't wait! But in truth, am in no hurry to get there because half the fun of WDW is the aniticipation!

Bye for now and take a visit to the Cyber Toy Outlet at Toysrus! Who knows what bargains will be there tonight! One more tip, I am going to buy a few of their $5.29 deals now to have on hand for birthday parties, school elves, etc. They have things like $20 My little pony sets for $5 and $30 fast lane remote cars for $7! Again, alot for the money! Hope you all have the luck and fun I had shopping online this year.
