The Hopping Mad Easter Tour - 2004

Shaun - 40 something ‘If it’s high fat, high sugar I’ll eat it’
Alison - 30 something 'If it’s not Atkins I won’t eat it’
Alexandra - 10 ‘Can we play mini-golf? Can we? Can we? Can we? Can we?’
Laura - 8 'If I’m tall enough I’ll ride it'

Tuesday 6th April 2004

Another early start this morning with the alarm set for 07:20 although everyone was very sluggish in getting going. We eventually left the room at 7.55 and waited for the bus to MK but we got itchy feet at about 8:10 and decided to drive. (Especially as our car was right next to the bus stop!) I have to say that this was the only time we weren’t happy with the bus transport - and we only had enough patience to wait for about 10 minutes!!

There were HUGE queues at TTC for the monorail (or the boat) round to the Magic Kingdom but we managed to get onto the monorail and arrived at about 8.45am. A bit of a shame really as the park opened up at 08:00 and I shouldn’t think it was too packed at 8am! But the park closes at midnight tonight so if we wanted to we could at least stay late! (But we had an exciting evening planned, so we wouldn‘t be staying late!) It didn’t matter too much today as we were only planning on doing some of the rides we missed the other day, plus a couple of the girls’ favourites.

After we got through the turnstiles we headed straight for Space Mountain and grabbed some Fast Passes and then doubled back to Jungle Cruise (which only had a 5 min wait), then Splash Mountain (also 5 min wait) before deciding we were all about to expire because we were starving!

As we’d got up relatively early and didn’t stop for anything to eat we had breakfast in Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland (just sneaked in before they switched over to the lunch menu!)

Laura: Cereal, milk, banana and hot tea
Alexandra: Breakfast platter – Eggs, Sausage, bacon, potatoes and biscuits
Alison: ditto
Me: Breakfast Bagel and coffee

Total cost $27 Pricey but a captive market.

So, fed and watered we headed off to Carousel of Progress (yes - again! The girls love this - and Alison always says it might either not be open, or not be here at all next time we come to WDW so we have to do it plenty of times! LOL It was time to go back for our fast pass time on Space Mountain now - excellent ride as always!

Then over to Tomorrowland Transit Authority, followed by Winnie the Pooh (only about a 20 minute wait in the standby queue) and It’s a Small World (well you have to do it don’t you!!) in quick succession. We stopped off by the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction (now boarded up) and took some pics.

By this time the place is HEAVING with people – time to call it a day and took the railroad back to the park entrance.

Today mini – golf rears it’s head (again!) and this time it’s Fantasia gardens for the first time.. It’s very hot out so we apply lots of sunscreen and buy a couple of drinks to keep us going. We decide on the Fantasia course which is themed along the lines of the Fantasia film – no surprises there then! – LOL

To me the course is ok but I wouldn’t hurry back. I guess like most of the other courses it’d be more atmospheric at night time. Never mind, it’ll keep Alexandra going for a couple of days I hope! – LOL

Drove back to CSR for a cooling swim and to relax before going to visit Mandy, Mark and Becky - together with Rebecca, Stu and Jamie (Mark’s sister’s family) as they were out in Florida at the same time as us - and we sort of invited ourselves round for a BBQ!

We stopped off on the way for some supplies; beer, wine, and Krispy Kreme donuts! (The essentials for all of us!)

We had a tour of the villa (it was lovely - bet the one we were going to go to would be nothing like this one!) and then we got changed for a dip.

We had a great time swimming in the pool and the chef (Mark) did brilliantly with the food - it was all delicious! But where’s the flames? - LOL (Alison here - Shaun’s never happy with a BBQ unless the fire brigade are on the point of being called out! LOL)

Poor Becky was suffering with a heavy cold, but did really well socialising. The girls had a lovely time playing with Jamie both in the water and in the house (I think they ended up with a picnic in one of the bedrooms!)

We spent the rest of the evening sitting round the pool drinking and chatting - this is the life we thought!

(Alison here - However we had to make a move - after I peeled Shaun’s fingers off the door frame and dragged him into the car, I got into the driver’s seat and was subject to a lot of abuse from the family as to my driving skills!)

Well we got back to the room safely (I assume, as I woke up the next morning with very few bruises! LOL) and apparently went to bed about 11.15pm ish.

Weather: - Very sunny today with no breeze and very hot, getting hotter as the day went on.

Plan for tomorrow Check out of Coronado Springs and move to the villa.

Thanx Shaun for another fab report.

Another great report Shaun. We think Carousel Of Progress is the most underrated ride in Florida. It's fun, educational and a great way of giving the legs a rest!

Looking forward to more.

FloridaLol

Another great day! I've yet to do Carousel of Progress as the last 2 times we've gone it's been out of season so it hasn't been running :(

Anz :earsgirl:

Lessons on cooking are available!!

It was great evening, we all enjoyed ourselves.

..... sounds like a great day :) ! So Mark is good at the Barbies eh? (Makes mental note for next SE DIS Meet ;) !)
