Day 13 – Sunday, 12th August – Islands, Sea World and Universal
Again we had breakfast in the Orchid Court Lounge, then went to Islands. Once there, they did Dr Doom, we all did Spiderman, Popeye (4 times), River Adventure and Duelling Dragons.
We had lunch in the Thunder Falls restaurant. Me and the hubbie had chicken salad which was delicious and the kids had wraps. We also had key lime pie which was nice.
After we left the park we headed over to Sea World. We had a good time in Sea World, firstly seeing the turtles and stingrays, the latter the oldest fed. I didn’t bother this year, they are friendly little fish though. I fed a huge one, one year, it looked like Darth Vader winging its way over.
Next we saw the dolphins which were all popping up out of the water looking for fish and also viewed them whilst they were swimming underwater. We followed this by viewing the seals who were very noisy and a walk around the Shark Encounter. I love the strange sea horse creatures in there.
We had tea at the grill in the Bud Enclosure. We had sandwiches whilst the hubbie tackled this enormous beef stew. I also chucked in a carrot cake for sharing which was delicious. The hubbie also had his free Bud, nothing like getting something for free.
We went in Wild Arctic via the walking route, didn’t fancy being jerked around in the simulator ride after tea. We saw the beluga whales, walruses and a polar bear. I always feel sorry for these animals because the tanks look so small and the walrus is always doing the same route everytime we see it.
They went over to the fairground area and tried a game (for free) where you hadn’t to set a buzzer off. I just sat on a bench and let them get on with it.
We walked back across the lake and managed, at last, to get on The Kraken which is my favourite rollercoaster. I just love that first drop. I think we were the last ones to have a ride on it before it was stopped due to adverse weather approaching.
We popped into the little aquarium in the shop by the Atlantis ride and popped in the Red Hot supermarket by the Rosen Centre for some toothpaste on the way back. The owners watched us all of the time and looked quite creepy but were pleasant enough when we bought our stuff. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel and out again to Universal.
We went on The Mummy, MiB and watched the fireworks. I had a bad blister on one of my toes which hurt when I walked so we walked slowly back to the hotel whilst the kids legged it back and bought themselves and me a smoothie. My legs felt absolutely shattered, probably because I was taking longer to walk everywhere. I didn’t bother setting the alarm for the first time.
