QOTD – DW after getting up at 6:00 AM, “It’s dark! You’re not supposed to get up while it’s dark when you’re on vacation!”

The Score Thus Far –
# Attractions We've Rode – 21
# Shows We've Seen – 6
# Parades We've Seen – 0
# Fireworks We've Seen – 2.5
# Changes To Our Original Plan – 8

Every trip to WDW has a day like this – the marathon day. No matter how hard you plan, you know there will be at least one day where you go non-stop from sunup to well past sundown. For us, that day was today.

We were up at 6:00 for our 7:45 Steam Train tour at the Magic Kingdom. For details about this tour, please see my review of the tour, The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour Review, for more details.

After the tour we did a few rides before having lunch at Cindy’s. This was an excellent lunch, the food was outstanding and plentiful. And they had decorated table for our honeymoon!

After lunch it was time for DW's surprise. Before we left, I presented her with a few gifts. The first gift was a pressed penny from the MK, instructing her to redeem the coin at the MK wishing well for one free wish. What she didn't know was this was only a ploy to get her to the wishing well by 1:00 for the start of a Gifts of a Lifetime event! This was awesome, and I had Jane find a nice Mickey Mouse necklace for me to give DW when it was over. DW and I had a wonderful, magical time, and I highly recommend Jane and her Pixies!

After the MK, it was time to head back to MGM for our Fantasmic Dinner package. But it was getting late, and we were not able to make it to dinner in time, resulting in Change #9. We were glad we did cancel for two reasons – one it would have been an early dinner right after a big lunch, and two... well keep reading to find out!

Now for some logistics. Since the busses weren’t running in time for our morning tour, we had to drive, parking the Bumble Bee at the Contemporary Resort and walking to the Magic Kingdom. We wanted to have dinner at Epcot after Fantasmic, but we didn’t want to fight the traffic leaving MGM. So, we drove from the Contemporary to Epcot, then took the boat to MGM. Along the way we stopped at Ice Station Cool, and fell in love with Beverly. We really wish they sold it here in the states!

Not!

This was foul, foul stuff. Thanks to the DIS boards, I was well aware of what it was, and only took a small sip. Yuk!

We made it to MGM at 4:00, and immediately went to Fantasmic and secured dead-center seats in the Mickey section, row M. While waiting we munched on some snacks and sipped hot chocolate. The hot chocolate became a big hit with the people around us – I must have helped to sell about a dozen of them! While we waited, we noticed the wind was picking up, and the skies were graying. Would there be a show?

Yes, there would be a show! Fantasmic started at exactly at 6:00, and it was awesome! Except for the wind, which every now and then blew the water from the water screens into our seats. Which wasn’t so bad when we realized the bulk of the water was being blown into the reserved seats for the dinner package, and hence reason number two why we were glad we cancelled!

After the show, we had a 7:10 PS at Rose and Crown. It was now 6:35 – would we make it? As we walked out, we decided to use the walking path. Good idea since the boat launch was packed. Now, it’s about 1.5 miles from MGM to Epcot. If you keep up a very quick pace, it can be done in 35 minutes. But we were tired, and halfway there had to slow the pace down. Result? We were five minutes late, and exhausted.

We did have a bad PS experience, please read my post to find out what happened. As compensation, we had a seat on the patio which had a perfect view for Illuminations. We could have stayed and watched the show again, but we were both ready to pass out, so we ate and left for OKW.

How tired were we? We were so tired, we passed up a Beaver Tail! Now that’s tired!

Seven days down, three more to go!

Sounds like a great, exhausting day! Reminds me of my anniversary trip back in June. We had dinner at Cindy's and they decorated our table with "pixie dust" and gave us free wine glasses to take home. I also did a Gifts of a Lifetime event for my boyfriend, I'd highly recommend them also!

How neat that they decorated your table for lunch at Cindy's. Disney magic!
