Got my Disney Mag today and in it was an article about the new ride in AK - The Himalayas! Said they were in the process of building the mountain right now and it should be ready by 2006. Has anyone seen any activity?
This ride looks and sounds awesome! The "mountain" will be about 200 ft high and from the artist rendering it looks like some kind of village will be below it.
The article says that you will travel on a train through bamboo forest, past waterfalls, then glacier fields and finally up the mountain to the "basecamp" of Mt. Everest. Sounds like so much fun. The ending will have you screaming as your train plummets 80 ft. to the foot of the mountain. Oh, and you get to meet the Yeti!
If this ride is one half as good as it sounds and if the visuals of "Mt. Everest" are as good as they look in the artist rendering, it should really be a showplace for AK! I can't wait!
