The haunted Haunted Mansion

Are there any other attractions that people have reported hauntings, ghosts, unexplained events of a supernatural nature?

We also rode it on the 4th of October during MNSSHP. DH didn't make it to the irde and it was DD and DS3 and me  . Just kidding I felt perfectly safe. Anyway the ride stopped for a few minutesm maybe 4-5 and we were stuck in front of the floating candlelabra. My kids were not too happy about it though they stayed quiet. I liked the changes to this ride, the sound is great and floating Madame leota is neat too.

uhoh they must have attracted the 1000th guest! grrrreeeeeaaaattt!!!

but no that is really creppy! i wonder if anyone has like died on the ride i heard ashes were spred on the ride (or so they say) but idk! thanks for sharing!

Interesting, because my hubby and I went on the ride during the first week it had reopened, and we, too, heard a tapping sound. I can't recall exactly where it was during the ride, but I'm thinking it might have been near the attic scene or perhaps during the first part of the graveyard scene. There were people in the doombuggies behind ours, but we just assumed it was a change they had added to the ride. Perhaps there is one faulty doombuggy that makes a sound as it passes a certain part in the ride?

Could the tapping have been an audio effect put into the renovated sound system? It's poosible to fool the brain with a 3D sonic effect.

I was thinking the same thing....after all Disney is a master of special effects

The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Injun Joe's Cave on Tom Sawyer's Island, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad all have actual, recorded histories of unexplained phenomena. Friends of mine are sensitive to these sorts of things, and have had some "hits" in these attractions.

Maybe it was something with the sound/audio recording that went awry for a few brief seconds and it sounded like tapping on the back of the buggy?

Thanks for the possible solution but this was a distinct, quick-tapping: tap-tap-tap. It quite clearly was not from the sound system.

Time will tell. We'll be riding it again before the year is out.

Thanks to everyone's input on our original observation/question!

We had a really freaky experience in there one time. We were getting loaded into our buggies and there were people in front of ours and behind ours. Well we're getting to the ballroom and they might have had a small mechanical problem or something but the lights flickered for about 2 seconds (the ride ddn't stop the lights just went off). Well we got to facing the ballroom and we look at the doom buggie to our left and the people WERE GONE. I never figured it out....EVER. I thought maybe cast members rode and then got out really fast to be funny but the buggy never called attention to itself or anything. Really creepy.

Very Creepy. I am interested in any stories from CM's about things kinds of things happening.

What a great thread for the week or two before Halloween. A perfect way to get in the SPIRIT, so to speak!

Can't wait to ride the refurb'd (and, apparently spookier) HM in a few weeks.

I love this post and now can't wait to ride HM next week when we go for Halloween.

We had no intention of creating what seems now to be a pretty interesting (and creepy!) thread as Halloween approaches! It all goes back to our initial inquiry about a weird experience we had several weeks ago [see message #1.] Whether guests have an "extra" chill during the refurbished HM attraction is beyond our control, to be sure; however, the new HM contains enough "ghoulish delights" to make anyone feel like ghost "#1,000." :scared1:

All the best to all!

One additional note: One of the four HM CM did inform us [see initial thread message #1] that a few fellow CMs have shared with her stories about "strange sights and sounds" in the HM after the ride is closed for the night. She said she did not experience anything like that during her tenure at the attraction (nor did the other CM who was with her at the time we spoke to her) but she confirmed those other stories with a sense of seriousness.

We'll continue our investigation upon our return in the not-too-distant future.

Hmmm.. I have never experienced this..
Although I swear to you all I heard faint whispers into my ear,
It wasn't part of the ride I promise you,
I was in the doom buggy alone.
Quite Creepy!!
Never Experienced it in my other 100000000s of times riding.
Straaangggeeee ..
I've never heard of ashes spread on the ride,
Although I have heard of rumors of real ghost happenings on the ride,
I'll have to look when I go to disney.
CREEEEPPYYY ! :scared1: :scared1:

Splash oxo

My hubby and I went in February and did not notice anything like this. How CREEPY!! We are going back in September. I will definately pay closer attention this time.

Seriously? Tell me more. I love that kind of stuff.

Hi! I am an engineering student. The mechanism that guides thew doom buggies probably caused a vibration that either sounded like knocking or actually caused another peice of the doom buggy to knock. Another thing to concider is, well, nevermind it couldn't have been a real ghoast. Or could it?
