“Like Romeo and Juliet,” Carlos says dreamily as the doors burst open.

Logan leans impossibly close and grins wider than Carlos has ever seen him before. “---- Romeo and Juliet,” he whispers, his breath ghosting over Carlos’ ear. Carlos can hear people yelling things that he’s only ever seen on those cop shows that his parents never liked him watching, but they all sound fuzzy compared to what Logan’s telling him. “We’re going out with a bang.”

Then there’s cool metal pressing up against Carlos’ temple and everything becomes startlingly clear for a second. The clarity is suddenly interrupted by an earsplitting bang before everything slips away into nothingness.
