I mention my dad
Because he jokes about the times
That he's had back when he was hippie
And how our relatives
Changed their names
Just to seem more American

Whatever happened to the Brooklyn Dodgers?
Whatever happened to me?
Whatever happened to all the New York gentleman?
My dad, he said son..
You're looking at one

Whatever happened to the Brooklyn Dodgers?
Whatever happened to me?
Whatever happened to all the New York gentleman?
My dad, he said son
You're looking at one

He said you're looking at one

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
We said we'd go our own way
And hey, hey, hey, why don't we start today, today
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
We said we'd go our own way

Hey, hey, hey
What happened to those days
Tell me, tell me

Whatever happened to the Brooklyn Dodgers?
Whatever happened to me?
Whatever happened to all the New York gentleman?
Did they just float out to sea?

Whatever happened to all the New York gentleman?
My dad, he said son
You're looking at one
Said you're looking at one

At my best, I'd suggest I've been weird since she left.
It's normal autumn stuff, I guess I never thought enough.
Look at me almost free from my crippling disease,
Shoot bullets through my foot I think that'd work out real good.

At my best put to test I'd score average or less.
I can't apply myself if I could just untie myself.
She wants the yes's gets the no's before long there she goes.
I guess she dug too deep and now she's just too bugged to sleep.

You made yourself the guest of honor
And the party got stopped
And everybody just went home.

You made yourself the guest of honor
And the party got stopped
And everybody just went home.

You made yourself the guest of honor
And the party got stopped, the party got stopped

You made yourself the guest of honor
And the party got stopped
And everybody just went home.

Call me out, call me out.
And I guess she didn't know better 'cause she-
Call me out, call me out.
And I guess she didn't know better.

Once, long ago there was a time in what now seems a distant land
Each small boutique was precious and unique
'Cause every little thing was made by hand
Then there came a revolution
The progress of production was its aim
Now instead of one, there are many
And each costs just a penny
But every single one looks just the same

Now there's a Starbucks on every bloody corner
McDonald's on everybody's street
There's White Castle, Wendy's and Walmart
And then it all repeats
If you're the kind that looks down on the masses
Even for your there's a feint
Get some New Rocks or a pair of Docs
Look just like those who ain't

And that is how (Tell us how)
It came to be (How can it be?)
After two long centuries
That in the name (What's in a name?)
Of human greed
The industrial revolution fixed everything for me

And so now if one does well with a business
They open two more and then three
They buy in bulk in big massive hulks
At which point it's nearly free
As they grow bigger their prices get lower
Until they become a chain
The smaller stores all shutter their doors and buckle 'neath the strain

And that is how (Tell us how)
It came to be (How can it be?)
After two long centuries
That in the name (What's in a name?)
Of human greed
The industrial revolution fixed everything for everyone
It came into our lives and gave us uniformity by taking choice away from you and me

And that is how (Tell us how)
It came to be (How can it be?)
After two long centuries
That in the name (What's in a name?)
Of human greed
The industrial revolution fixed everything for every bloody one
It came into our lives and gave us uniformity by taking choice away from you
(Taking choice away from me!)
Taking choice away from you and me

Now the machines are working tirelessly
Through all night and day
Making garbage in our image
For a world that's made our way
And they won't stop until every inch
From Peru to Bombay
Looks like a mall in the US of A

Of all things malign,
An accident on the assembly line today
Cut him to the bone,
"But what can you expect from clumsy 8-year-olds?" I'm told.
Look outside the window.
See the growing crowd
Of kids with missing arms and feet?
Nothing to eat?
What cold heartless beast
Can sit and have his feast every night,
While their plight's always in his sight?

Robber Baron in the tower,
Counting all his gold.
You know while he goes unchecked
And stays in power,
He's never gonna let,
He's never gonna let,
He's never gonna let us go!

Marching in the streets,
The mighty hammer of the Baron's own police.
With their flags and guns,
And guns and drums and boots,
And blood red banners, dogs and guns.
Black-shirts pound the pavement,
With their bold insignias of wolves,
And bats and snakes,
And birds of prey.
Filling us with fear.
Our hearts are full of tears.
Who so vain, for his gain,
Causes so much pain?

Robber Baron in the castle,
Basking in his greed.
You know while he breaks no sweat,
And gets no hassle,
He's never gonna let,
He's never gonna let,
He's never gonna let us free!

Robber Baron in the tower,
Counting all his gold.
You know while he goes unchecked,
And stays in power,
He's never gonna let,
He's never gonna let,
What do you want?
(FREEDOM!)
When do you want it?
(NOW!)
Only we can make us free.

Storm the steps,
We break into the palace hall.
It's so majestic,
We are frozen in our awe.
Grandmother cries as she crumples to her knees,
says, "I can understand,
That the rich demand,
An amount of luxury.
But I'd have never dreamed,
It was so extreme,
While we had nothing to eat."

The music in this song...

Grab the chair, boys! We've got another bucket kicker!

Happy Birthday my olde friend.
It seems this horror show will never end.
Any moment's your last breath,
Here is to another day closer to death.
