The Halloweenqueen prepares to be Not So Scary! My Small World Story 8/7

We made our t-shirts ourselves as well. I had some designed by DISsers...and we also made one ourselves. Once you have the DISign...all you do is print it off on photo transfer paper...which can be ironed on to tees. You pick this up at the craft store. HINT: Invest in better paper...and if you are doing your design on a dark shirt...get the paper meant for dark t-shirts. If you need a clear background behind your design...make sure you get the clear sheets. You print it off on your regular computer printer.

:woohoo: That is fantastic!

 I would love for you to make a graphic but I have a really stupid question; then what do I do with it? How do I get it off the computer and onto the shirts? :upsidedow

It is much easier than it sounds. There is a terrific eBayer that sells transfer paper sheets. Here is a link to the eBay store-

I buy dark transfer paper, even if I am doing white shirts. I think it comes out better. You print the design on your computer, just like you would a regular copy, making sure you have the transfer side down (so the print is on the right side). You don't have to reverse the design with dark transfer paper. The transfer you make is like a patch that you will then cut out (if necessary), peel the back, and then iron on to the front of a shirt. You need parchment paper to go between the design and the iron.

I size the design differently for the adults and children. I usually make the design 8 inches for adults and 6 inches wide for children. I print using draft mode. One of the best design DISers advised me that if you do a high quality print the ink bleeds.

I'm shirt-challenged, too!

I lurked a bit on the Design Board, but I still don't "get it"

I buy the t-shirts from here-

I get middle quality t-shirts. This website ships quickly. I bought almost 40 shirts last time for around a $100. Can't be that! I thought the shirts would only last the trip, but the kids have been wearing them all summer and they are holding up. I just wash the shirts inside out and line dry. The designs have held up nicely.

I made school shirts for them for the last day of school. Everyone's shirt has the school mascot and their "new" grade. They have worn them all Summer and I'm amazed that the design held up. They plan to wear them again in the Fall.

We got our t-shirts at Hobby Lobby...for about $2 each...sometimes less...as they sell them at 50% off quite often. The shirts have held up perfectly...but the cheap iron-on designs have melted in some parts.

Well, I've been MIA for over a week now. Last Wednesday I started to feel out of breath. By dinnertime I was quite breathless and started to have chest pain. I didn't want to alarm my kids, so I waited for their father to come home. I convinced him that I was okay enough to drive myself to the hospital. Big mistake. I wasn't even out of my neighborhood when I realized I was in serious trouble and pulled over. In my rush to leave I had forgotten my cell phone on the kitchen counter. Luckily I made it to the trama center (my guardian angel must have been driving). :goodvibes

They quickly discovered that I was suffering from a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs). I spent 24 hours or so in ICU and then spent another 5 days recovering in my own room. Thanks to morphine and the extraordinary care of some fantastic nurses, I'm home.

I'm still in a lot of pain and there are many questions concerning my future care. But, I'm going to be okay. I'm one lucky lady.

At first I didn't think my hospital gig was appropriate for a pre-trip Disney report, but then I remembered something.

For several days I could not get out of bed because of my condition. I was determined to get active, since I know how important it is to stay positive and aid my healing. I finally got up one morning, just to drop into the nearest chair from lack of breath. My nurse comes in and is so respectful and encouraging. Our discussion soon turns to our children and I tell her how I need to get strong because we are planning to go to Disney soon. Her face lights up and she and I get into a delightful Disney discussion. It was just what I needed. For a moment or two I wasn't hooked up to two IVs getting blood and medicines pumped into me, but feeling some Disney magic. We quickly discover that our October trips overlap and we are actually going to be at MK on the same day!

Boy, will it be wonderful to bump into her in a couple of months, recovered and happy with my family again!

Let's hope the days fly by! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling like my old self again! I've been on a Halloween shopping spree, thanks to all the stores stocking their shelves two months in advance! I can't believe Garden Ridge already has their Christmas stuff out!

Now back to vacation planning! :goodvibes

I just finished reading your June TR and dropped by to check out your pre-trip. We love October in WDW and MNSSHP!

I am so glad to hear that you are back home. I gasped out loud when I read what was wrong. You are so lucky you made it to the hospital! A blood clot in your lung, and you drove yourself to the hospital!!! I'm sure you will be going strong by October. The HM will keep you going.;)

Hi HalloweenQueen - I'm so glad you are home and feeling better!! I just finished reading your June report and was happy to see your Octoer pre-trippie! But then I was shocked to read about your health crisis! Hope you get stronger every day so you can fully enjoy your October trip - you definitely deserve this one! We'll be there Oct. 4-10. Staying off-site too. Can't wait to read more. Amy:)

:goodvibes OMG, I am so sorry. Our good friend and fellow firefighter with DH just passed a lung clot as well and is in the same boat. He was in ICU for a week. :( You must have a guardian angel!

I will pray yo have a speedy recovery. He has been in TONS of pain; how's your pain level?

 The recovery can be slow but you should be feeling good by October. :thumbsup2

Here's some pixiedust: and :goodvibes for a healthy and fast recovery!
