Can anyone tell me what their hours of operation are? I am hoping that they are open in the evenings after the sun has gone down. TIA Maggie

Fear not, Mickeysaver, the Suitcase is open well after dark...some of us think it's much better later on...and I must say you have a fantastic itinerary....our oldest daughter goes to college in Savannah and you DO seem to have done your homework. Discovery Cove is also an excellent (though not cheap) choice.

This is a once in a lifetime trip. It is our longest vacation ever and I can't wait. I have put a lot of time into making sure that we have an awesome time. I still have a bit more to do, but so far, I am really happy with the way it has all come together.

Still being relatively new homeowners, it's hard to put this kind of money into a vacation instead of into improving our 33 year old home. We decided that it may be several years before we can afford another really big trip, so we wanted to make this one memorable for both of us. We figure that tomorrow is not promised to us, so for once we are going to really live in the moment. Not a bad way to enter my 40's either. lol

We are going to make several dreams come true during our stay. Gabby learns to surf. We both get to swim with dolphins. I get to pet a penguin. And best of all, we get to spend a lot of time together, alone, in magical places without anyone or anything to get in the way of really enjoying each other. It's been awhile since we have had that. I love her inner toddler and she loves mine....but it's a rare occasion that we let those little buggers out to play.

Part of our trip will be spent enjoying adult beverages, which is also a little new to us. I think I have been tipsy once in the 8 years that we have been together. She has been tipsy many more times than that, mostly because I tend to drive when we go out and she's awfully cute when she has a buzz. :rotfl: I am looking forward to leaving the driving to Disney and getting a mutual buzz going. It should be a hoot.

Thanks for the info. I am sure that after reading all of this you must think that I am a nut.....which isn't far off the mark, but at least I am a nice nut. :upsidedow Maggie

Not to go OT here, but we did DC last March and had a blast. Our day for the 4 of us (1 who swam with Diego) with pics and souvs ran about $1200. Now DD12 is slowly saving her $$ to do the "trainer for a day" program. I believe that is around $500.

The Suitcase is small, but you will definately get all the drinks you'll need right there! Enjoy you vacation!!

Oh, Maggie....while at WDW please take your DD to Jellyrolls! It is over at Boardwalk and the 2 of you will sing to the dueling pianos and drink the night away.

Does the Suitcase still have Yuengling on tap? We're meeting my DD and son-in-law (DSIL?) at OKW soon and they're partial to that beer, apparently it's popular where they went to college.

Yuengling ! The brewery is just 45 min from me. Did they go to college in PA ?
I'm honestly not sure if it's on tap at the Suitcase though. The GS does stay open until at least midnight. Enjoy !

Jellyrolls is cool, but not really our thing. While my partner, Gabby has a wonderful singing voice, neither of us really enjoys Jellyrolls or karaoke. But I appreciate the input. :thumbsup2 Maggie

Um....just had a bad thought.....is smoking allowed at the Gurgling Suitcase, since it's outdoors? We have asthma and the smoke is a trigger for both of us. Maggie

You are my kind of people.... Love your itenerary too. Be prepared to wait in line outside and around the corner at TL&S... just crazy.

Cocoa beach is my most favorite beach of all... fantastic waves, fantastic water. RJ surfschool..... cool....

Swimming with the dolphins at DC... now that's COLD water. I'm serious, it's like 54 degrees. You get wet suites, but even me who loves the ocean waters found it pretty uncomfortable. Just be prepared.

Would love to touch a penguin. We are nature nerds.

Have a great time :beach: Oh.... I don't have a clue about the suitcase place, but I think jdvm took care of that.

I would *think* with the new non-smoking policy that will go into effect in June, any smoking near/around eating areas will not be allowed.

Not a nut at all!

My wife and I did almost the same thing back in '01. We actually came back and signed the papers to commission the building of our house...figuring much the same thing you did...that it would be awhile before we got a chance to do another trip.

We've been lucky. Between work (3 conferences at the Contemp in 5 years) and our own wherewithall, we've been quite a few more times. But that trip was magical...it was our last vacation sans kids, which makes it an especially nice memory (much as I love our little ones). We were able to spend 16 days down there, spending some nice quality time together and enjoying WDW.

So, again, I don't think you're a nut for wanting some quality alone time with your loved one. I think it's sweet.....

Nature Nerds......:rotfl: I love it! It does describe us too. When I was a little kid, I would find all sorts of bugs, lizards, frogs, hurt birds and take them to the teachers that were watching us play at recess. They got to the point of asking what kind of critter was Maggie going to bring them today? lol I do wish that more parents taught their kids to respect wildlife. My Dad really hammered it home to me and I, obviously, have a lifelong appreciation for critters. It's probably the reason that we have 4 cats and 4 Chihuahuas.

Anyway, I know that TL&S's is going to be a bit of a challenge. But, Gabby swears that if we are up early and on the road....not to mention patient that we should be able to eat there. She has been there before, so I am going to trust her. Gabby has eaten at Bubba's too, but she said that it was highly overrated. I would love to meet Ms. Paula, but I don't expect it. Gabby says she is a real sweetie though.

It's gonna be fun. I am really looking forward to it. Maggie

Well, seeing that you came home with a little souvenier, you must know something about quality alone time with a loved one at WDW.

Oh, I hope you are right! Thank you! Maggie

PRICELESS!!!!

That is beautiful and I wish you the best vacation ever together. As a parent of a teen I can only hope for this type of vacation and do not see her asking for it.

So enjoy it. Memories cannot be bought.

Um....I so hate to burst the bubble of a few of you, but my tactful way of trying to let you folks know that Gabby is not my child have not been decoded by all of you. Gabby is my life partner. We have been together for about 8 years now. Sorry for any confusion.

And to you MAC3, you are correct, memories cannot be bought. That is why this trip is indeed PRICELESS!!!!! Maggie

Sorry the whole inner toddler got me thinking "child" but not matter what, spending time with someone you love, in a place that you love is PRICELESS..... I hope this trip is everything you & Gabby could dream of!!!!

Please don't apologize! It's an honest mistake. Let's face it the majority of the world would assume that in talking about another female going on a Disney trip with me, that it would be a relative. I just didn't want anyone to be confused about the nature of the relationship. I try not to totally rub it in anyone's face, because I am all too aware of the problem that some people have with it, but then again, I am too stinkin' old to be jumping into closets too. But, obviously, I am not above crawling inside a Gurgling Suitcase. :teeth: Maggie
