First of all, let me say that I adore my husband. He's awesome, funny, charming. We've been married 13 years and have had many laughs along the way.
BUT....when it comes to vacations, we're very different. To me, they are a necessity. At least every 2-3 years, I NEED to go somewhere. Somewhere significant and, usually, somewhere expensive. To my husband, vacations are nice but a luxury that we can't always afford.
I usually start about a year out, talking about destinations, mentioning saving funds, etc. For a while, I'm met with discussions about needing a new car or needing to convert the garage into an office or needing to pay the electric bill. You know, silly stuff
Then, after a while, I wear him down. I receive the grunt of acceptance. I know then that everything will be okay. He's come to terms with the allocation of funds and will, eventually, become excited at the prospect.
Well, today I received that grunt. I'm so excited. I've planned our trip for the first week in February. And tonight, another bonus....I caught him watching a Disney Cake Competition on Food Network. Yay. I win.
