Can anyone tell me, are there any vending/ice machines at the POP?
For 2 people, any difference between the king size bedroom and the two double beds (besides the obvious)?

My DM and DF had a double room this past trip and we were adjoining in a king room. The only difference is the king room seems a lot less cramped. There is more room to walk around, so much so that we talked about how they needed to add another little table and chairs or something to make the room not seem quite to sparse! Enjoy your trip!!

Vending ice on each floor by the elevators. But can get food till 12am at the cafe... I saw a new sign go up last week that snacks were available at poolside till 2am too!

We have stayed at Pop three times, each time there were only 2 of us in our room. The first two times we had a King room and the third time we could only get a double room. I agree that for 2, we prefer the King room. Aside from the obvious... I would agree that the room seems less crowded with only the one bed, but not a really big difference....

As our vacation gets closer I have been thinking more about our room. We will be there Feb.5-11. Does anybody have any reccomendations for me. I will be with DH, DD 5 and DS 1. we will be using Disney Transportation. The main reason my daughter wants to stay here is because she saw a picture of the flower pool. Even though it is Feb. we plan on swimming, so we would like to be close to the pool and the busses. Is that too much to ask? This is our first trip to WDW and we are exctied.
Also, can you request rooms ahead of time or can you only do that at check in?

If you want to be close to the flower pool in the 60's section & buses you should ask for a preferred room instead of a standard. All rooms in the 60's section are considered preferred. If you don't want to pay extra, you could request the 50's & 70's buildings which are not too far away. Our room was on the far side of the 50's building & it was a bit of a hike. You just need to call CRO, or your travel agent if you used one, & ask them to add a request to your reservation. However, even though they do try to meet requests, they can not be guaranteed.

We were in the 70's section and it was about a 5 minute walk (actually less, but we were on the top floor, so the elevator ride made it longer) to Classic Hall, The Hippy Dippy Pool, and there is a back way to the busses that only took about 3 minutes as well. This back way to the busses is why I think the 70's section is a better option than the 50's. For us, it was just 2 adults, but it seemed to be a very easy walk for others around us with small children.

Call where you made your reservations, and ask to have a request added. Tell them you have small children, and you would like to request being close to classic hall/Everything Pop. If you are close to the hall, you cannot help being close to the pool. Preferred will not guarentee you will be close to the hall, as some rooms on the back side of the 60's are farther.
We were in the 50's, farther back, near the bowling pin pool, but we just walked over to the daisy pool, and it was no big deal. There is a cute kids pool area over there too. Have a great time!

Hi! We just returned from WDW where we stayed at Pop for 7 nights. We were three adults, and didn't find the room to be crowded at all. I was prepared for a really tiny room, but actually, it's about the same as your average motel room. We didn't have any problem with noise, except for the occasional toilet flush, but it was not like a jet taking off or anything. I did find the food court to be noisy. We were only in there in the late evenings and one late morning, but between the music blaring and the TVs going, and the buzz of hundreds of people, it really got on my nerves. They should turn down the volume of the music or eliminate the TVs. It's too much at once.

We were in two different rooms because of a mix up in a request. My daughter had just gotten out of the hospital a few days before we went to WDW after having been in intensive care (she's a diabetic and her blood sugar had skyrocketed). I had called CRO and asked for a room on the ground floor and close to the bus stops for medical reasons. When we arrived (after midnight - but I had also informed CRO of this) we were given a room in the 90s on the fourth floor. When I objected, we were told that there were no other rooms available for that night, but that they would be happy to move us the next day, and to just leave everything packed and they would take care of it. We were to come back to the check in desk after touring the parks the next night and get our new keys. When we returned the following night, the room change had not occurred - it seems they had a "miscommunication." Again we were told to leave everything packed up and they would move us the next day. They also "comped" us for one night because of this mix up. We were finally moved into a room in the 70s on the first floor. Much better. However, on the third morning, my daughter was not feeling up to even walking to the bus from there or walking into the park to get a wheelchair. I went to the front desk and explained, and was told that they have a certain number of complementary wheelchairs that could be used for the length of our stay (on a first come - first served basis) (why didn't they tell us this when we checked in - it would have made those first two days much easier). I went to the luggage storage area as directed to inquire, and lo and behold, there was one available and I was able to sign it out for the rest of our stay. A couple of days before we were to leave, my daughter was feeling better and we turned in the chair so that if someone else needed it, it would be there. We did end up renting one in MGM, but it was still great not to have to pay $10/day for the whole 7 days, and to have the chair for the trips from the parks to the bus, from the bus to the room, etc. I thought that I would pass this on in case anyone going needs a chair, but does not need to bring one of their own.

All in all, we had a wonderful stay at Pop and would probably stay there again.

OK, totally subjective question... For those that have stayed at the Pop, what is your favorite building and why?

I've been eying the 50's bldgs

I was in the 80's and didn't care for the location...too far from everything and the icons, though I grew up in the 80's, just aren't all that thrilling, LOL. If I were to stay there again, I think I would probably pay for a preferred room and stay in the 60's section. The main pool is pretty nice and I like the icons there, not to mention the central location being a big positive. My second choice would be the 50's section. It's pretty close to the main pool and I also like the icons there, plus it seemed a bit more quiet than the other areas when I visited.

We were in the 70's, top floor, next to the Big Wheel. We loved it! It wasn't too far of a walk to Everything Pop, we could take the back shortcut to the busses, and this was our view when we opened our door each morning (Priceless!!)

What can you tell me about the bus ride to DTD? How long is the ride? What time do the buses start running? How frequently do they run?

50's, lake view.

Pros: Close to parking, quiet, view of Epcot waaay off in the distance. Kinda near bowling pool (I prefer quite pools.)

Cons: Far from main building, rooms can even be a hike to the bowling pool.

We were in the 50's, building 3, 4th floor, rooms 3454 and 3455, and I thought it was an awesome location. It was really close to the 60's and to Everything Pop. We were able to swim in the 50's and 60's pools. We could see the lake in the distance from our room. I'd LOVE to stay there again.

We will be there Feb. 8-13 with DS 5 and DS 2. We are hoping for swimming weather too! Maybe we will see you at the pool!

Pools are heated, we swam when it was 50 out! And you can go anytime, they don't close them. DD and I were in there at 1am ALL alone, it was great! You'll swim in rain or cold weather when its a heated pool, believe me!

We have a small bar fridge that we bought several months ago which we'd like to bring with us for our trip to POP. Do you think there would be any problem doing this? Saves the $10/night charge...
