We will be going to Disney Oct. 13-20 and were hoping they would have Halloween events and decorations going on. Has anyone been there during this time? We will be staying in POP. Thanks

We will be there the same time! I can confirm that last year we were at ASMu same time and they had some decorations up in and around the gift shop. They also had a decent selection of Halloween merchandise. To my knowledge there were no events other than MNSSHP which takes place on special nights inside the Magic Kingdom.

Wow, 2 weeks and 191 pages. Thank you all for the info. So what will I do now, I'm going to Disney World, and POP! I now have all the information I need to get the room I want and what eat, tie dyed cheesecake.:rotfl2:

We just got back from POP and were disappointed. We loved the theme of the resort and the resort itself, but our rooms were very gross! We had adjoining rooms in building 1, 50's building. Room 1454 smelled so bad of smoke, we had mousekeeping come in 3 times to spray the room. Room 1455 had stain all over wall by table. I asked mousekeeping if they could try to wash it (wasn't sure if it was a fresh stain or old). It did not come off. It covered at least a 5 foot area, maybe it was soda or something that was sprayed all over wall? My DS spilled his juice on the bedspread and I called mousekeeping to let them know and ask if it could be washed and we get a new one. We went 4 days without a bedspread!! I finally went to front desk to ask for a bedspread! I really felt like I was staying in a really bad run Motel 6! And I couldn't even get an AP rate and paid full price. Our first night was at Comfort inn LBV for $45 a night and the room was in better shape than Pop. I know we could have asked to be moved, but we had already moved from DVC stay at BC and my DH and i were traveling with 7 kids! the last thing we wanted to do was move again. We figured we would not be in the room alot so we dealt with it.

We have stayed at all of the All Star resorts and loved them. I think we will be going back to one of those.

I am so sorry to hear about your bad time at Pop, please don't let this one time spoil it for you though it is a fabulous place to stay.

I would suggest writing to Guest Relations and letting them know what happend and see if they will send some PIXIE DUST YOUR WAY!!

So sorry to hear about your unpleasant stay @Pop. :sad2:
Wouldn't compare Pop to the Ritz but have always been satisfied with our room/mousekeeping. :goodvibes

I wouldn't compare Pop to ritz Carlton either, but the rooms were very gross. We were very disappointed because my kids actually like staying at the Value resorts. We have stayed Deluxe, moderate, DVC and Value, so I do not consider myself a "resort snob". We loved the food court, pools, etc. I probably would give it a try again, but am a bit leary.

I did talk to the front desk 2 times about our disappointment in the rooms and basically was given a blank stare and "sorry, have a magical day". I think I will write to guest relations.

please let us know how it goes!

According to the first post of the thread, the beds are on a pedestal so they can't be moved but in this post :

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=16667690&postcount=19

it says the bed was moved closer to the wall, does someone have the exact info on this:confused3 , also what about all the other furniture (table, nightstand, tv center, etc..) can it be moved ??

Thanks

Hey there! That link in Post #1 was referenced in relation to the handicapped rooms. That post from the link is from the disABILITY boards and was specific to the handicapped rooms, which only have a king sized bed. I'll go back to Post #1 and make the appropriate reference where it states the bed is on a pedestal so no one else gets confused! ;)

As for the remaining furniture you listed, in all rooms, they can be moved around (although I'm not 100% certain about the nightstand between beds).

You definately had an exception to the rule. We've never had a bad room (our group was in 6 different rooms between two stays) and when we did have an issue, it was resolved immediately.
And, since they did nothing to fix it when you were there, you definately do need to complain to someone higher up. And let them know about any CM interaction you did have.

I think it is REALLY important to ask to be moved immediately if there is a problem, even though that is a pain. They are more likely to respond to a request to move, especially if you ask for a manager.

Sorry it was not so good! Hope the rest of your trip was better! :wizard:

Yikes!! We requested the 50's section! DD loves Lady. Are the 50's buildings former smoking rooms?

I thought it would be helpful to add that the clock radio in the room has an MP3 player hookup. I just looked for the 1st time tonight as we are stuck in the room due to Fay. I'll have to try it out tomorrow! Also, we are not having characters for our wake up call this trip:( It is a very short clip of a song..sounds like Miley of course:) I miss Mickey!

I would have kept asking for a supervisor until I got some results. We had an experience like that at AKL and my DH convinced me to "let it go" but I won't do that again ever. It just isn't acceptable. So sorry you had to go through that!

Does it charge your player? If so, one less thing to pack. :)

Wishing you some pixiedust:. Hope Fay blows through quickly!

Thanks! Fay can't stop us! She just drizzled for the day with a couple of typical showers until about 6. Right now it is windy and dry, but humid.
I don't know about charging the MP3...just plugged my nano in and it works great. I will leave it plugged in to see if it gets a charge. The plug is not the flat plug, it is the plug that goes in where the ear bus go in if that helps. WE are listening to wishes hoping to wake up ds 4 and hit the park 1 more time!

We just returned from Pop 8/18 ourselves. We left late at night and boy that was a turbulant flight due to Fay.

I missed the Mickey wake up call too. I wonder if emailing comments about missing Mickey would make them think about bringing it back? I think the only difference in the room was the clock radio and for some reason there seemed to be more room between the 2nd bed and the wall to the bathroom?

I noticed the lifeguards did a lot of extra activities with the kids poolside and a lot more games went on in the lobby this year.

The frustration I felt was that the flower pool kept closing due to little kids not wearing swim diapers and pooping in the pool. It closed 4 times in a half a day for about an hour each time. I felt bad for the lifeguards who have to clean it out.

We did have the most wonderful mousekeeper this trip. I was so thrilled after having one last year that didn't clean well, wouldn't leave extra towels when asked, and the kicker was she actually stole from us. Concierge would not believe us about it though.

This year restored our faith because our mouskeeper made it feel like we were staying with relatives. She left a bunch of extra towels for the pool, she saw I didn't like the comforter on the bed so she put them up on the closet rack and gave us extra blankets instead and then made the beds with two blankets every day after that. For the first time we got the cutest towel animals. She said she makes them at home with her own washclothes so some had colored washclothes used for them. We made sure to give her a nice big tip for all she did. This was our best trip at Pop yet.

Disneyfreak,
Sorry to hear you had a bad room. I didn't really look at our walls so I don't know if there were stains. Did you try wiping it down yourself? Maybe it was permanent. I think the rooms are due for an update in the near future though since they have been working on updating the All stars with fresh paint and decor.

I am a non smoker but smoke doesn't bother me unless it is fresh and in a small closed in area like a car so I don't know if our room had an odor except for clorine from our swim suits.

As for concierge, any dealings I have ever had with them I really felt they could care less about any comments or experiences and really doubt the guests and just want to get on to the next person in line. When I reported our theft last year (a $40 item) they kept asking me if I lost it in the park myself, maybe I knocked it behind the nightstand. Even after I explained that I left it on the nightstand and hesitated before leaving the room thinking I should hide it or take it with but decided to trust the maid (my mistake) they questioned me. I felt like they were calling me a liar or an idiot and I was not looking for anything for free. I made it clear all I wanted them to do is note the incident incase she stole from others but they noted nothing just kept turning it around on me. IMO, they just want to sell tickets, make dining reservations and that's about it at the concierge desk and management is no better they just apologize and try to get rid of you.

IMHO, there are so many more wonderful employees at Disney that I try not to let the few bad ones change my feelings for the resort or Disney. Hopefully, like me you will give the resort another try someday in the future and you might find you have a much better experience the next time around.

This happened several times when we were there. Actually the first day we were there, it was closed for 8 hours and then hours here and there-can't they make them where swim diapers?
