It is true. We just got back yesturday and we had to show an ID to get a cart to bring our luggage down. In fact, my husband walked all the way down there from the 80's section, only to have to walk all the way back just to get his ID, and then walk back again to get the cart. It wasn't a busy time either, as we only waited a max of 15 minutes to get on any ride or see any character. Most rides were just walk on. Maybe it all depends on how strict the guy working there is, but yesturday the guy was pretty strict about it. Over all good time at POP though.

For anyone bringing an infant along, we used a travel high chair that hooks onto the table in our room and it worked great. The table doesn't look all that sturdy, but it is. My son is 16 lbs and the table didn't even move at all when he was sitting in the chair. He's also a climber and mover, but even with all his movement the table held still. Now I appoligize to the mousekeeper who had to clean our room after he ate every morning, but it did work great and we saved a ton of money by eating pop tarts, donuts, ect that we brought from home. Anyway, just thought I'd share that info since it worked so nice for us.

.... We did get the lake view that we requested, but we did NOT get the refigerator that I specifically requested for DS's food allergy. That is the 2nd time we've stayed and requested a fridge and didnt' get one. :headache: :headache: :headache: That really bothers me!

......We were chose as Resort Family of the Day, our only Magical Moment of the Trip. When we got back from dinner at 1900 Park Fare, we had a certificate, picture frame and rubics cube in our room. very cute. we also got turndown service for that night.:thumbsup2 ....

As far as the refrigerator goes, I don't blame you for being upset. If I can get on my
soapbox.gif
for a moment, THIS is a prime example of why people who do NOT need a refrigerator for medical reasons yet request one under those terms just to get it free should feel horribly guilty. I'm not pointing fingers to anyone here specifically, but I know it happens. I've even heard of CM's saying they'll give one to a guest for **wink wink** a medical reason. <stepping down....gently> :)

Congrats on the nice surprise of being Resort Family of the Day!! That's very cool! Also, congrats on your anniversary, Jennifer & Joseph!

Re: free fridge - my guess is that they had all of them out to paying guests. We have always gotten a full dorm frig (cube size) for my son's meds.
With a request like that, they probably would rather get the money when they can. I believe they have a frig at the desk for guests meds if necessary.

DM5+, I wrote down your room recommendations. I figured if anyone knew you would. :thumbsup2

We are weird in that we don't want to be near the pool or lake, just close to our van so we don't have to schlep our stuff too far. We do enough walking that week! :thumbsup2

OK thanx for this info. I think we are going to just request closest to parking lot.

Your welcome! Hope you get a really great spot!

Are there pictures anywhere of the lil fridges you'll get with the $10 per day
rate over at POP? I'd love a link! TIA!

Also go to the budget board, there are currently 10+ fridge swaps at POP that are FREE. I organize one that we started last week which has a larger fridge plus a coffeepot and we only have a few dates left for 2008. The link is in my signature.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I know you've become a resident Pop exeprt! :goodvibes

Now, if only I could find it for $30. I so cannot find that price on Amazon. :confused3

I also wanted to clear up that I meant just an airmatress, not aero bed. I know places like Target, Walmart, Meijers.. all have them in the camping section. A basic twin shouldn't go for mare than $25 tops. I surely wouldn't get the top of the line either. You may chose to leave it there, instead of the hassle of packing it back up. Also I have nice ones and cheap ones, and both have leaked air. I bought a nice one once and it leaked the first time I used it, while the cheap one lasted a whole summer of lots camping.

I'm having NetGrocer send me water and pop to the resort. I also sent a huge box of stuff to Pop yesterday. Owners Locker is supposed to be delivering my purple locker on the 19th (my first visit hence the huge box).

So you see, I'll have quite a bit of stuff to haul to the room. Where will I get all of my stuff? front desk? some place different?

TIA

How far away was the 80's section. I just called and they told me they put me there. :scared1: I asked them to move me to the 50's.

Take a look at the various maps in Post #1. That will give you a decent perspective of the distance difference between 50's and 80's era buildings. There are some in "The Basics" as well as "Classic Year' Rooms" sections.

I am spoiled because I stay at the Sports so often that they know me and treat me very well. Not getting a fridge and having to wait in line for so long would make my life very difficult indeed. I bet I do not have to stand in line cause one look at me and they will be scared I am going to fall over and they do not want that. :rotfl2: One time, at Sports, the manager came over and made me sit down while she took care of checking me in. I remember her name, Noel.

DM5+, I am with you on room location. It is a mite prettier over at POP but fewer steps is far more important. If you ever do not get your room where you want it you could just form a human chain and pass the luggage etc. all the way back to the furtherest room without any problem though. :rotfl:

Jennifer, what great pictures. Makes me want to explore the resort a bit more. I have only seen it at night so far and did not venture far from the pool because the company was so good! :thumbsup2

Are there alarm clocks in the rooms.

There certainly is. Check out the "Amenities" section of Post #1 for details/features.

(Press [Cntrl] + [F] and type in "alarm" as the keyword search to easily locate it)

So I have noted on my reservation that I wanted a ground floor room.....after checking out the maps in post 1 I would like most specifically 50's building ground floor facing the pool....I am part of a grand gathering we have all requested the same.....what are my chances of getting exactly what I want and what can I do to help my chances...in the pass I have stayed at ASMO and upon check in I have always kindly request a particular location only to get the complete oppsite of what I want however after a call to the front desk manager I have been moved to the location requested......why does this happen?:confused3 If there were rooms avaliable in that area to begin with? Also as a compliment of the manager on both occassion I was given a room with a fridge.

I realize that POP is going to be a new experience for me (1st timer) but I have heard that cast members at POP are very eager to please...Please help put me at ease.....Also how soon can I call to see where they have placed me?

Now that would be a sight! LOL

We use the double stroller as a pack mule. Don't know what we'll do when we no longer need it. I guess all the kids will be big enough to carry our stuff. :thumbsup2

I think that being a Grand Gathering can give you an edge, because Grand Gatherings works with your requests first, trying to accomdate your big group.
We were so pleased with our location and that all our rooms were together, even though it was free dining and the resort was pretty busy.

Everyone booking a room at any resort should always give their requests when they book, in order of importance, and not wait to fax or call or request at check-in. If you have a big group, be sure to link all of your ressies together through Grand Gatherings, and let them help you organize your trip.

DM5+, I do believe I have given you a good idea for your next trip. :thumbsup2 When you no longer have a child that will fit in a stroller you can do the rolling backpack thing. I am tempted to do that one myself. :rotfl2: I signed up for a GG this morning. I have never done such before. Hope I do not keep everyone else up with my wild ways.:lmao:

Where is package pick-up located at Pop? When I get off M.E. at Pop should I go claim a luggage cart and take it with me to check-in or will I pick up my packages that I sent down, some place else?

Thanks Disneymom5

I have noted everything except facing the pool....thinking now that I may call back the grand gatherings number and see if I can add the building number and pool facing location, I am also planing to fax the request again prior to our arrival. I will also phone the resort to see where they have allocated us just not sure what time frame I should do this to allow time for them to possibly change it if need be.....:confused3

It's further out, but not really all that bad when you consider you are walking all day anyway. Really what's another five minutes. We were facing the computer pool and for the most part it was pretty quiet. One night there was a large group of teens (i'm assuming from a school group) that were being obnoxiously loud at midnight, but someone must have complained because I saw security taking care of them pretty quickly.

I know this probably isn't the place to say this, but we have stayed at ASMO and now POP, and actually prefer ASMO. We just think the theming there is cuter. No complaints on POP though, overall a great time. Just thought I'd let you know since you sound like you like ASMO. Just don't want you to be disapointed. Everyone at POP was very friendly.

Does any know where I can purchase a Little Mermaid rolling suitcase for my little princess?
