I have stayed at Pop quite a few times and my family just loves it for those quick trips. The last time we stayed at Pop was in April and the refurb was in process...we were able to stay in the 70's section which I believe was the only building/section that had been refurbed. Is the entire resort complete now? If not, what decades are/are not? We are arriving in 2 weeks for another long weekend and I would love to be in one of the newly done rooms again.

We are going in December and I'm wondering about the refurbishment schedule as well. Does anyone out there have this information?

Thanks!!!

What are the sundae options? On every menu I look at it just says 'assorted sundaes'.

When I was there last, they had a few different things for ice cream, I can't remember if it was just soft serve, but I had a shake as one of my deserts, and it was yummy!

I read corner room to mean a room at the ends of the building. I've had such a room twice now -- didn't request it, just got them assigned. The rooms were not bigger, but you don't have another room on one wall, so conceivably there will be less noise.

Gotcha...I understand the reasoning now..:thumbsup2

Hey everyone I need you alls help..See I am taking my daughter (20) to Pop century for December next year. My plane gets in in the morning and her's does not come in until the afternoon---she lives in Mississippi.

I would love to use Disney Florist but it is way to $$$$ and I think I can do it cheaper myself.
Were I need your help is where can I get some of my stuff and what idea's do you all have for me
I want to get some of my stuff or all of it this christmas....HELP thanks

I get a lot of my Disney decorations from Walgreens. I also know that JC Penney and Sears carry Disney decorations. :santa:

We just booked our February trip and air travel! So excited- we are staying at Pop for the first time (only have been to Disney once and stayed at POR). It will be me, DH, DS (5) and DD (2) we will be there from Feb 2-Feb 11th

Any tips on a longer stay?

I wish we would have brought more food like cereal and peanut butter. You can do laundry- those Purex 3 in 1 sheets are handy.

good idea on the cereal- since we dont get a fridge is it pretty simple to go to the food court and get some milk each morning?

Hi, Penni520.

Since you are not going until next year in December, check out online Disney Store for after Christmas discounts.

A couple of years ago, I bought some large 3 feet by 4 feet window disney christmas cling ons to put on the window and a battery operated Mickey light up wreath to put on the front of my mobiltiy scooter.

I also bought some green garland with mickey head attachments as decoration. They were were about one inch thick and 12 feet long garland and packed very easily.

The windows have metal frames and I glued magnets on the thin mickey head attachments on the green garland to drape aroung the window frame.

If the doors are made of metal, you can do the same thing.

Anything that is made of metal the magnet can attach to lile window frames, door frames, metal doors, overbed light metal sections, etc.

Office stores like Staples.com have a lot of different size magnets and glue guns to attach them to the garland.

The garland is also sold at Downtown Disney Marketplace at the Disney Christmas store.

There are some stores that sell these small suction cups that let you flip a small handle on the suction cup to place up on painted surfaces.

I have found these online a long time ago and at office stores and craft stores or at Micheals.

Most of this stuff is easy to pack.

And I usually use my glue gun to attach the magnets at home and place everything in ziplock bags to pack for travel.

It is simple, although you'll have to buy the milk. If you're on the dining plan you can use a snack credit for milk. Depending on how much milk you use on your cereal, you may have enough for more than one day. Keep it on ice during the day.

We like to bring bags of mini bagels and a jar of peanut butter. Load up on jelly packs from the food court and voila it's breakfast. Save meal credits for lunch and dinner.

How is the hair dryer in the room? Should I just squeeze my huge personal one into my luggage or just use the one in the room?

There's only stand up showers at Pop, correct? No connecting tub - if so, that should be fun with my dd who is afraid of the shower LOL

my hair hangs down to the middle of my back, and I never had a problem with the hair dryers. but I don't "style" it, just dry it. (once, at sports, there was no dryer. I went to the front desk, and they said it wasn't guaranteed. I said "look at my hair, I NEED one" .. they gave me one.
(someone already answered about the tub. just agreeing. oh except in the handicapped rooms. had one at all star music. they just have a shower "area" with a curtain to divide it from the toilet. for handicap access)

The 80's is not close to the foodcourt but looks closer to buses !!!

we requested 80's this next time (stayed in the 50s and 60s all the other times; want something different) I think if it a short walk to the buses, I can just walk that way (arrowsmith..:rotfl:) to the food court, too! use the front entrance. (the only bad thing is walking through the parking lot, not so pretty, but, oh well.)

Don't for get the Tie Dye cheese cake :thumbsup2:goodvibes
I know we're rare, but we really dislike the tiedye cheescake. tastes yuckty, and looks like Walt Disney threw up! (that was a line from an older movie). relly miss the frozen coke, though!:sad1:

We have a trip booked during next May for free dining and staying at POP for our 3rd time. I have been reading through this thread and have noticed some posting about a corner room. What is the benefit of a corner room? Are they bigger? Just curious and thanks:thumbsup2

someone mentioned having no neighbors on one side, which is true.

but I think the confusion here is this: at the Moderate resorts, the corner rooms have an extra window. makes the room seem larger, it's much brighter, and you get 2 views! (at CBR, we had a view of the lagoon, and a view of the quiet pool.... at FQ, we had a view of the cobblestone street, and a small view of the river!)
no extra windows at the values.

 just booked POP for Nov 18 -23....I will be there in less than 3 weeks!!

My daughter is a fracture boot (hurt her leg while running Cross Country). We just have a standard room right now. Is there a standard area that will be close(ish) to the buses?? Thanks.

We haven't been to POP in 3 years. Has a lot changed??? It is my favorite value!!

My understanding about the reb. room that they are all done at Pop Century

Actually they are not all done yet. Last week we were originally assigned a room on the first floor of Building 2. It was not refurbished even though the CM at checkin said they were all done. We switched to Building 9. I didn't see any work being done when we were there. Here is the thread discussing the refurbs:

I think 3darlings is the most recent report we have that confirms building 2 is still not done. *Almost* everything at Pop is refurbed now (60s-90s, building 3 in 50s, most or all of building 1), but building 2 was ending up last.

I would say the 80's are close to that side of the parking lot. You might want to upgrade to a preferred room it's not that much more. We were in the 60's preferred room- very close. Either way I would fax down a request 3 days before you arrive and explain your situation- I did and it got us just the room we wanted.

the non-preferred parts of the 70's building 10 (70's are buildings 10 and 6) are very close to buses and Everything Pop. We stayed in 0125 once and it was in the center of the building, so we just walked through and we were right there. However, I do want to say that when we stayed in August, we were in building 6, 2nd floor and the elevator was there at the touch of a button, so waiting for the elevator was not even an issue. I no longer request 1st floor. In fact, I liked floor 2, we had a nice view of the courtyard.
