So my family is planning on heading out to Pop Century for Thanksgiving. We are adding an extra night because we decided to do 3 park days instead of our previous plan. I have one question, are there any special events that go on during the holiday season? Will the resort be decorated for that time?

Oh yes and one more thing. What are the dimensions of the pack and play yard? Where would be the optimum place to position it in the room?

I don't know the exact dimensions of a pack and play but a few years ago we took a twin size air mattress (which is bigger) and moved the table and 2 chairs to under the window and put it in the tables place. It worked fine.

The pack n play is about 30x40. I think the best place to place it, is directly in front of the room's connecting door (if you have one). If you don't have the door that spot is between the dresser and the dressing area. If you need the connecting door you could put it where the table and chairs are, moving the table and chairs to in front of the window.

We'll be there for Thanksgiving too. I love to tour the resorts and look at the holiday decorations. Grand Floridian has a giant life sized gingerbread cottage in the lobby. Beach Club has a chocolate carousel (life sized of course). Wilderness Lodge has a humongous Christmas tree with giant ornaments. Fort Wilderness guests go all out decorating their campsites. Although I'm not sure when they begin decorating the campsites, but the other things were all up when we were there for Thanksgiving in 2007.

I think if you want a epcot view. Request 50's section building 3. But if you want to be close to the food court it would be building 1.

I leave my house in 12 hours for the airprot. I'm not excited or anything!!:dance3:

Twas the night before :smickey:......................:banana::banana:

Awesome thanks.. just wanted to be reassured! My sister is in a wheelchair, using elevators is really no problem, but it's good to hear that it makes it much easier for ground floor with her wheelchair! I'm excited!! Thanks again!! :thumbsup2

We will be at Pop the same time!

we just booked our vacation package for next September ~ yay! Thanks for all the useful information on these threads!! We stayed at Pop a few years ago and loved it!! can't wait to go back and see the new refurbished rooms!

I have a question about getting a refrigerator for medical reasons.. i have a seizure disorder (nocturnal seizures) that requires me to take my medicine at night with food and drink and if i wake in the middle of the night feeling like i might have one, to take another pill, again with food and drink... does anyone know if this would qualify for getting a free refrigerator and if so, do i need a letter from my doctor or what do i have to do in order to prove my medical problem??

Thanks for your help!! :goodvibes

Last time we stayed we requested a fridge, for my DW`s gestational diabetes meds, and we were given one without charge (to my shock at the end of the stay). We had intended to get one regardless, as we like to keep milk in the room, plus to put any leftovers from dinner etc, so this was a nice surprise. I don`t recall having to show proof, (easily done if needed), but it wouldn`t hurt to have it just in case.

I have a family member who requires a refrigerator for medical needs as well. I simply notify the CM that we have a medical need. No questions are asked. With the HIPPA laws, no one is allowed to ask you what your medical need is or why you need the refrigerator. It is taken in good faith that you are not lying about a medical condition. I am sure that you will receive a refrigerator without a problem.

Adding to the pack 'n play answers...

When my family used to get the pack 'n play (this last trip we didn't get one) we liked to wedge the pack 'n play in between the two beds. That kept all the other rooms areas clear, and we could drape a bedspread over the top of the crib to let our child sleep a little longer when we got up.

During the day to let mousekeeping make the beds, we put the crib next to the TV stand (on the non-chair side) just before we left the room. That was before the refurbs when the TV furniture was bigger. With the new TV furniture, there's more room next to the TVs on the non-chair side.

Just sent the room assigner a fax for my check-in on Sat. I might be too late but just thought of it today. Found an online website where you can send a fax for free from your computer. :thumbsup2 We have a fax/printer/scanner/copier machine but the fax isn't set up.

I requested ...
  • Bldg #3 or a refurbed room in the 50's
  • 4th floor
  • Facing a pool

and then gave my reasons...Love the 50's and like the 4th floor for quietness. Would like facing a pool because I'm traveling solo and would feel more comfortable entering my room from a more public location instead of the backside of a building.

Can you tell us how you did it from your computer. My fax no longer works, so I have to go to my mothers everytime I want to send one.

Also can anyone tell me their experiences with ground floor rooms?! Just want to see what to expect! As you can see I like to plan out every detail!!

We personlly like 1st floor and have had it on our 3 Pop stays. We like the convenience of it. Some people don't like it becaus there is more foot traffic. Also if you are near the pools, you may hear the noise more from them, but we never were bothered. It just depends on you level of tolerance. DD heard alot of it once night last trip, and it made her "feel" hte need to be swimmingthen too, but I told her no, it was time for sleep and she gave up on the idea.
Also the con of poolside first floor is that every time you walk out the door, the pool is there, and if you have children who love to swim, it can be harder to get going each day. We have learned to just let DD swim about 15 minutes or so each morning before going anywhere and we can then leave with out begging or tears. (yes, even though she loves the parks...those pools are just so much more fun to her. LOL)

From what I understand, you don't need to fax. Most advice I understand says faxes are not used. You can call central reservations and ask to update your room requests. I just used that method for this trip I completed last week and I got exactly what I requested -- ground floor, building 3.

Haha.. thanks so much for your response! We are a pretty big family, noise isn't really an issue for us. We all can sleep through pretty much anything! Just comes with the territory of a family of 9 I suspect!:lmao: And I didn't even think of the pool thing! Everyone in our party is an adult except my 13 year old brother, who likes the pools, but is def. more into the parks and my 1 year old nephew, so that shouldn't be a problem just yet! But that is good advice! I should tell my sister who is staying at POR with her three kids! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

My DD and I will be at POP in about 2 weeks  :goodvibes
I bought some Disney Halloween themed window clings and a set of Halloween colored lights from Walgreens. I wanted to know if it's okay to put the lights in the window with thumb tacks or do you guys just use thick tape to put them up? I don't want to get in trouble for using thumb tacks since they will put little holes in the walls by the window. What do you recommend?
We will definitely be putting up the window clings, but the lights might stay at home depending on what answers you guys give me :)

TIA :hippie:

BUilding 2 or 3, top floor you will be able to see the fireworks! It's close to the bowling pin pool..and the laundry...it's decently close to the food court/buses!! Love bld 3!!
Nice and quiet and close to it all!

Thanks KELLY and mauigal!! I think I will request the 50's building #3, even though the 50's theming wouldn't have been my top choice. Have fun on your trips!! :wizard:
