We did not do online check-in

We are leaving tomorrow for POP so I am getting excited

I should be packing instead of reading the dis :surfweb:

Good morning Poppers. :goodvibes Just returned last night from our third stay at POP. We had a FABULOUS 9 day vacation. Each time we stay we fall more in love with this resort. :lovestruc
We had requested 50's previous to leaving. We have stayed in 90's and 60's before so we wanted to try a new location. We did online check in and when we arrived at about 11:30 am, we were given 80's. The CM that checked us in was fantastic. I asked if they had anything available in the 50's and he switched us with no problems. We were given building 1, second floor, facing the parking lot. And our room was ready! :goodvibes This was a great location for us because we had a rent a car (soooo glad we had it). We were steps away from the bowling bin pool, the main building and our car.
We didn't get a refurbed room and I was actually glad! I was worried the new rooms wouldn't give us a enough draw space. Our room was immaculate when we walked in and our Mousekeeper was fantastic the entire stay. :)
I didn't see any work being done on any buildings while we were there. If I hadn't read it here before, I would never have known they were refurbing rooms. Not sure if they stopped for the Free Dining rush, or if they were in a completely different section from where we were. :confused3
The resort was clean, the food court was busy but we never had any trouble getting tables and the food was great, as always.
The CM's were just wonderful. Very friendly and helpful.
Yesterday we checked our luggage in at POP (we flew Southwest) and it was great. We went off to the parks and didn't have to deal with our bags until we arrived in Manchester last night.
We didn't receive a bounceback offer in the room, so we called the X8844 extension and were told they changed the number? DH went to the front desk the next morning and got one. It was the same Free Dining offer that is available to the public (Free QS for Values, Regular for the Mods and Deluxes).
I made put up some decorations on the windows using suction cups and some Mickey Magnets on the door. (Will post pics after I download them). Mouskeeping didn't say anything and it made coming home at night easy for us to remember which room was ours;).
We had a very quiet stay until our last night when some new neighbors checked in next to us. Lets just say I am glad it was our last night there or I would have been asked to move. It was still midnight and they had the door to their room propped open and were apparently entertaining quite a few people including several screaming children.
I am thinking our next trip will be in the spring to see the Flower Festival, but I need to see the kids school schedule before I book. There is NO doubt that we will be going back to POP.
Any questions, feel free to ask.

I know everyone's probably going to want to strangle me for this, but what buildings are refurbed so far? I'm getting so confused trying to put all these threads together.:rotfl: I'm doing online check in in a few days, I always request a ground level room, but I want to make sure it's in a completely refurbished building. I really don't mind having a longer walk to the buses/food court. Thanks!!! But... while we are at it,:) which building is the closest to the food court with refurbed rooms that are standard rooms?

I gotta get around to calling some requests in too. Our fridge was requested, but not the bed rails we need to keep little ones on the bed. (I remember the beds being quite high off the ground at POP). We are not going preferred room, but wouldn't mind something faceing Hourglass Lake again...
Either way, going to wait till our package of stuff come in before I worry about it.

Ok... at the Pop.. you know how there are music speakers along walkways in each decade area to provide ambient music appropriate to the decade you're walking through? I gotta know... Why in the world is the ONLY genre of music for the 70's Disco!! Come on! Disco WAS from the 70's... no other decade wants to claim it..:sad2:.. but really... there was so much more to love about 70's music than disco. what about KISS? Foreigner? Queen? Pink Floyd? Stephenwolf? Dolly Parton? Willy Nelson? Kenny Rogers?!! After 9 days I was ready to change the record over for goodness sakes! I wonder who is in charge of said music? :confused3

Not sure why you didn't hear anything other than Disco, when we were there I lived to hear a Disco song come on!! There was 1 about every 3rd song or so. Many other varieties in there as well. Not hard rock like Pink Floyd but we heard Queen and Kiss. Country wasn't popular in the 70's so it wasn't as mainstream as now...therefore not gonna be played in that decade. They play what was "pop culture" the "fad" stuff. Country doesn't fit that bill in the 70's.

....and times seems to slow down the closer you get - until you get there, then poof - it's gone

The month before is my favorite part. It's the anticipation that is fun for me. Well not to lessen when we are there but by that point there is nothing to anticipate any more. lol

WOW It is hard to believe that we are almost there. Time to get to the serious packing and buying things that we need, so were dont have to pay disney prices. We use dryer sheets in our luggage and then they go in with the wash. We have been collecting shirts and shorts so now we are looking to see what will match with the most. We are 16 days and counting down. Hope to see disers down there. POP from 9/11 to 9/21.
See you there! m & c:cheer2: :cool1: :yay:

I know what you all mean, two weeks and 1 day until we leave and the wait is killing me!

labsrus - We're there the same time you are. We're going to MNSSHP on the 14th.

Love reading about the Pop, thanks for the info. Will be there in October 2010

Really... you heard KISS? Maybe the manager changes up the music every now and then. We heard KC and The Sunshine Band... way too much Bee Gees and ABBA, and lots of other Disco faves. I disagree about he popularity of country in the 70's. Certain country artists were very popular and iconic in the 70's I'm thinking Dolly Parton, Smokey Robinson.. don't forget about Buck Owens and the Whole Hee Haw Gang!!! lol Hee Haw was a really big hit popular TV show in the 70's. I know I never missed it each week! :love:I think a few of them should be represented.

The food court was a great place to listen to all the decades in a big mix. I enjoyed listening to the 50's songs there, since we had planned to do the bowling pin pool, but never did. We ended up at Hippy Dippy after the 80's/90's computer pool proved to be too unshaded and the life guards were a bit strict. They would allow swim rings and noodles, but not my daughter's inflatable Bruce the shark from Nemo.:sad2:

The next 6 days are going to kill me....but at least my ticker doesn't say "weeks" anymore - just days!!!!!

Smokey Robinson...Country? The same guy who did Tracks of My Tears, Ooo Baby Baby, Tears of a Clown, I Second That Emotion, Going To A Go Go, and all those other Motown hits? I never thought of him as a Country Music artist. Hmm, you learn something new every day.

Just need to keep busy so that the time will fly by quickly! Up here in New england the weather has gotten much cooler - 50's this morning. So I'm hoping I can acclimate to the hotter humid florida weather when we get down there easily. I'm also hoping that the 50's will be done for refurb but we'll see!:surfweb:

Two weeks and counting down. Talk about a mix of stress and excitement.

I here you it was 90 and humid for so long. Now that it is getting cooler I'm afraid my body will go into shock. I'm sure I will adjust after the first day or so.

Smokey Robinson is definitely not country. I think the pp mistyped.

I know he's not Country. That's a heck of a typo.

On an unrelated note, I have decided that Building 1 will not be rehabbed by the time I check in next week so I have requested building 3. I held out as long as I could. I'll report back if I see any progress.

Terri

We did the MNSSHP a few years ago with our nieces. (It was our date night with them). We had a blast, the decorations, the atmosphere and the fireworks. Disney does everything big and we believe that you will have a great time. Maybe we will bump into you while we are down there.:yay:

I requested building 3 too. I leave in 5 days - when do you go?
