I did not read a post saying they were able to book it, only that they saw it on the Disney site. I did ask everyone to please read all posts before posting, but you posted right after mine so it appeared that you did not read it at all and being a long time member of this thread, I expected you would.

I have said the same about the Disney site - and allears may be a very good site, but often has incorrect information. There is not one source with perfect up to date information, which is why people come here, hoping to find the latest and correct info. We try to do our best to keep it accurate, but we have no control over members posting what they saw on the disneyworld.com site or elsewhere - they are only trying to be helpful.:thumbsup2

The 4th category is irrelevant at this time b/c it is not bookable, so let's end the discussion here by letting everyone know:

www.disneyworld.com does have 4 POP categories listed, but it is not loaded on the booking site at this time, therefore cannot yet be booked. When a DISer is able to book a std pool view room on that site, please let us know.:flower3:

Like I said..I DID read it. That link was not important to me since we were talking about booking...or I assumed that's what we were talking about. I guess I Assumed when someone says it's on the Disney site they mean they are trying to book it...but you know what it means when you Assume! :rolleyes1

Ain't that the truth!!!!;)

So...I'm really confused now.

When I booked my room only reservation in March, I asked for a non-preferred room, 70's lake view. I had the same request last year and got room 6215 in the 70's (Building 6, 2nd floor, facing the lake, close to the stairs and close to Goofy's splash pad). Great location!

Was this a Standard Room? Would this still be considered Standard?

It was a standard room and if Disney keeps the preferred room locations the same, it will still be standard. We do our best to keep the info updated so if anything changes, we will update the 1st page and it will be posted on the thread as well.:thumbsup2

These changes don't take affect till 2012 right???? Cuz we booked a Preferred Room , requested 60's adjoining !!! Which 1 CM tried to tell me was connecting ..:rotfl2:I trtied to explain the difference BUT she insisted soooo I let it go but we Dissers know ;):rotfl2:

So sad that Disney reservations CM's are some of the least knowledgeable about the resorts.:sad2:

Yep, 2012 Rosie.:thumbsup2

Hello everyone :wave2: Thought I'd add our POP experience to the thread. We visited May 28-June 6th, with preferred, connecting rooms in the 50's building, 2nd floor facing the foliage.
Our keys and welcome packet were ready upon our 4 pm arrival and our request for connecting rooms was granted. Our rooms were clean and very cute, although much smaller than I anticipated. We had 2 adults, an 18 year old "adult" and a 16 & 10 yr old. sharing connecting rooms. So 4 large suitcases, 3 medium bags and an ice chest and groceries, and we were out of floor & table space quick! The walls are very thin and my hubby dubbed the toilet "vicious", and you could hear all your neighbors flushes. You could also hear your neighbors talking and or tv's and people walking by sounded like they were in your room.
The a/c worked well, we never even adjusted it. Mousekeeping comes early but they did a terrific job and will come back a little later if asked. The walk to and from the main building was very quick, and we were centered between 2 pools. The pools were also great, however we didn't visit the bar :( The theme everywhere was adorable and so much fun to walk around inside and out. I thought the food was good, the choices were plenty. They need to revamp their coffee and creamer selection but otherwise no complaints. You don't get pool towels so you'll need to ask mousekeeping to bring you extra. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and the check-in online line was a breeze. I feel like we got what we paid for and if we ever have a need for 2 rooms again we might do another value resort but with a different transportation strategy.
The buses were a nightmare! We tried to plan around the "busy" times but I think everyone else did too! It was horrible to walk to the very end of every bus station and then to stand in line for over an hour when you had been walking for 12, only to stand up in a squished bus for the ride back. Same experience in the mornings only you were standing in the sun.....if I knew then what I know now we would have driven ourselves.

*This is just a vent........We had a smoking neighbor who liked to come back at night and leave her room door propped open and smoke on the patio and talk to everyone in her room. She was connected to our teenagers room & they never complained until night 4 when the smoke came in their room. I called the front desk (had to call twice), they finally had security visit my neighbor, (security was a bit of an older lady who was the sweetest thing ever! Talked to our law breaking neighbor like she was her bff for about 30 mins about everything but the smoking and loud talking! lol ) My neighbor was ticked (at us for sure) and her and her friend came out after security left, smoked again, talked even louder. I had to go out and explain to her that it was 2 am, our kids are trying to sleep and the smoke was in their room. She got upset, her friend was rude, they went in her room with a slammed door, flushed her toilet repeatedly literally banged on the wall a time or two and continued to smoke outside her room. UGH. Thank goodness they were gone the night after.

I'm staying at the Coronado Springs in July, fingers crossed the bus situation isn't as bad and Miss Marlboro isn't back =] :smokin:

Sorry to hear that some of your trip (especially crazy smoking neighbor :sad2:) wasn't ideal, but I was surprised to hear about the buses...it seems like everything else I have heard about the buses at POP is a good report. We've been looking forward to an easy form of transportation. I hope it isn't always as rough as it was for you!:confused3

Your experience with the busses at Pop have always been the same for us in the over half dozen visits we have made to this resort. The resort has a lot of people staying there so the busses fill up and they pack them in like sardines. It is no different at the other resorts we have stayed at to be honest. Although at some if you are the first resort picked up you will get a seat going to the parks more often than at Pop. I either wait for a second bus rather than stand since I have bad balance or I drive myself to the parks which works best for us. :thumbsup2 We have also waited well over an hour, with 1hr 45 minutes for a bust to DTD being the record, for busses at Pop but never at other resorts although I am sure all resorts have their bad times.

One other thing is that I have seen the smokers coming out of their rooms with their cigarettes at different resorts as well. The resorts don't advertise that there are smoking sections and unless they take the time to look at their maps and notice smoking areas they have no clue. There are also always those who don't care that others are around sleeping and talk loudly outside the rooms or have screaming kids out till 2am who are exhausted when they get back. We usually put on the disney radio channel or the info channels that have the music and it drowns out the extra noises for us. I always pack ear plugs just in case but never needed them.

One other word of advise is get on your walking shoes when at Coronado Springs because it is a huge resort and the walk to the cafeteria is long. We also did not find their restaurant had as many food choices as Pop does.

Let me make sure I have it straight.

Adjoining means the rooms are beside each other. Connecting means there's a door connecting the two rooms inside. Correct?

We had the drunks when we stayed at CSR as my next door neighbors. It is a convention resort so it happens. But I had great bus service at CSR and POP. I will say that bad nieghbors happen everywhere.

Let me make sure I have it straight.

Adjoining means CLOSE to each other they may not be right next door , but should be on the same floor,. Connecting is when you have the door between the 2 rooms . Now it is possible that 1 or both of the adjoining rooms has a connecting door and it is NOT to your second room !!We used to request connecting when the Twins were younger but at 16 and with Grandma in the room don't feel it necessary!! Adjoining is easier to get than connecting . Hope this makes sense and Christine if I have misquoted PLEEESE correct me !!

We chose POP due to their good bus reputation over the 3 All Star Resorts. It was our first on site WDW trip, so maybe we had higher expectations? But if we were in line for a bus and ACTUALLY got on it we thought we scored big time and I (hope) that's not the Disney resort norm..??

When you drove yourself did you save time or just frustration? Did you walk more, like to the tram and back out to the parking lot both at the parks and then when you got back to the resort? And if you're staying in a WDW resort can you park at the parks for free?

This trip will be my best friend and I, no hubbies, no kiddos :rotfl:. woohoo! More than likely we won't even eat in the resort as we'll be dawn to dusk park hoppers. I'm soooooo excited to be coming back!

Yes, you are correct. :goodvibes

Perfect. Thanks!!

So we all know that info from a CM can't be entirely trusted...

But I really hate the 50's in POP.

I am booked in January for "Pool Preferred" and wanted to know if there was a chance I'd get stuck by the bowling pin pool. Called, three times, and asked.

All three times I was expressly told that Pool Preferred = Hippy Dippy pool.

They said it by name. So I could be wrong, but I'm assuming they have something they're reading from or whatever.

So I'm happy! Totally worth the extra money to me!!

We went last December and got put in the 90's--- such a long walk around the parking lot, since our stroller wouldn't fit between the cars. Spending the extra money this time to know for sure we won't have that issue!!

Just got back from POP. Did not have a preferred room. Upon check in I asked for someting close to the main building and busses. I totally loved our room. Very quiet and very close to the main building. It was room 6301 and it was in that courtyard where the big Mickey phone is. Totally loved it. Short walk when you get back from a long day at the parks. Close to Hippy dippy pool, but not so close that you can hear all the yelling and screaming. I would not want to be pool side!! It was a great location.

Can someone help me understand the bus situation a little more clearly? The thought of waiting for a bus for almost two hours, twice a day, for ten days has me re-thinking the entire trip. Is it really that bad? I thought that POP had their own buses and it was supposed to be relatively short trips. We will be there in August, so I know it will be busy. We plan to be to RD every morning, then back to the resort for a rest, and then return to the parks for the evening. Does that mean we could be waiting for the buses for up to 7 hours? That seems very unpleasant. Our only other experience using the onsite transportation was a stay at the Dolphin in late November, when it wasn't busy and we were often the only people getting on the bus.
