I noticed some of you were interested in having something delivered to the room as a surprise to your children.. I looked up the prices for the company that does that, and it is pretty expensive!! I have four kids and on my last trip to Pop (October), I wanted to surprise them too. So I bought them each a lanyard and some pins to put on it. Also a stuffed Disney character for each. After I checked in, I had DH and my in-laws distract the kids. I told them I needed to use the potty. I darted to the room, arrange everything on their beds and then ran back to them...lol. They were so excited when they walked in their room and saw their surprise from "Mickey." :lovestruc I know you can buy Mickey Ears online....as well as other park merchandise. Heck, if you can distract the kids long enough you set up a full fledge party (complete with balloons.....as long as you can inflate quickly)...lol

I am coming back to the thread for my pre-trip planning. Ignore that first ticker in my siggie - staying off-site with DD's school (the shame). We will be back at Pop September 29th. through October 6th. for our 3rd. year in a row.

I have a unique situation as I know for sure we will be in Bldg 5, 4th. floor. Can someone who has been there give me some insight? Not sure where the actual rooms are though. I am told we have one king room and one dbl/dbl.

I am really excited about our trip. This is the first time we will be in that area. This is my 5th. trip to Pop, but the first time we will be in the 60's area.

Can't wait to read more about everyones trips. If anyone else is going during that time, a mini-meet would be wonderful.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know where you will be?

Building five is the second 60's building if your leaving the lobby just past the hippity dippity pool! thats where we were last August. It is a good location! I wouldve liked to been in the first building right by the Hippity dippity pool! :) Right after Baloo or the Playdough can whichever side you wind up on. Can I ask just out of curiosity how you know for sure this is where you will be?

Lets just say a huge mix-up with reservations and a very inappropriate phone call from another area in Disney (not the Pop Century - they have all been absolutely wonderful to me).

Hi all! We're planning our trip for this summer (I know, late start this year due to waiting to have taxes done ;) ) We have stayed at POP MANY times in the past and we read on another thread that they've changed all the mattresses to pillow tops. :cool1: Is this true?!?!? So exciting!! Especially since DH and I are both very tall and have to sleep in separate beds at POP since they're just doubles. At least we'll be separated, but COMFY ;)

Also, we've done preferred and standard and we're going back and forth about it for this trip. DH says $70ish is a tour, a couple meals, etc... and it's not worth it, but when we stayed there 2 years ago we were staying non-preferred and we were all the way out in the far 50's bowling pin buildings and it was a HIKE to the busses. I know it's really everyone's personal opinions, but any thoughts?

Well then if thats the case you will be very close to everything! And I'm glad they are making good a on a bad experience! :)I hope you have a great trip!

What if you request a non-preferred location in 60's or 70's? Then when you get there if you don't care for your location, ask if there are any preferred locations available. Of course, you're taking a chance. But, then again, room assignment is always chancy. I've upgraded and downgraded at check-in before at POP and the CM's were great and made it really easy.

Pillow-top mattresses??? Really? How did I miss that? Last I read some people thought they were too hard. Oh, I'd love it if they are pillow tops! :cloud9:

Thanks, that's a great suggestion. Then if we get a 'bad' location we might have the option to change it when we check in. Good thinking!

About the mattresses.....I KNOW!! That's why I thought I'd check here! We have strayed away from POP a little for our last few trips because the beds were SO hard. This would THRILL me!!

What time does the food court close at POP? We are thinking of doing a late night flight so we have a extra day. But not sure what time the food court closes. We would arrive at the resort til midnight or so.

Last time we never had to use the food court really late. Are flights are already booked but Airtran changed them. In the past they have let us change with no fee because they changed them. This would give us a 9 night stay.

I believe the food court closes at midnight !!! Some of the stations close earlier !!

As for the suggestion of changing your room we have done it many times !! Now my DD says request 60's preferred !!! That is where she wants and that's all that makes her happy !!! Can't understand why she can walk round the parks all day but has to be close to Classic Hall when we get back :rotfl2:

Thanks I'm hoping we can stop some where to eat before we get on the plane or at our lay over.

One thing I love about the values we can spend more time for a lot less $$. We never tried a value until last year and now we love POP.

We love POP for the same reason...hmm...5 nights or 7?? Tough choice :lmao: Plus, I love how 'fun' the atmosphere is. You really feel Disney the whole time you're there!!

As for the food court, don't rely on major things to eat when you get there late. We have found that the offerings are pretty slim after a certain time. 10:00 maybe?

I have a question concerning Conjoined rooms. My mom will be meeting us At pop as part of our surprise. she lives only 2.5 hours from Disney and will be booking her own package. How do we go about getting conjoined rooms?

First you ask CRO or your travel agent to cross reference the reservations and then request connecting rooms.

We thought they were really comfy this past trip!

I know things change often at Disney and since I willbe solo w/my 4 & 6 YO for a few days I am trying to save time can anyone verify....

Do you still get life vests at the Pool?

Where do we get towels for the pool?

If I bring my own ping pong balls, (or even if I buy them there) where do I get the paddles?

Is there still sand art around 3ish at the Hippy Dippy Pool?

We are flying on Southwest.. can you use resort checkin on all flights or is ti STILL ;) in a test phase???

thanks for help

Hi everyone. I have a quick question about King beds at POP? Are they guaranteed if you reserve them?

We would need one King size room and one 2/double bed room. One of our daughters is 18, so they would not need to be conjoined rooms, but DH and I would LOVE a king room.

Thanks in advance

even as we approach our 12th trip to Pop, you find somethings you never knew before here on the DIS Boards!!!

Can answer the ping pong question !! The paddles are left on the table and you just provide the balls . As for towels we always ask housekeeping to leave extra everyday ,they have always been great about it !!
