Ok....I've been reading the thread and my head is spinning with all the great information! I think it might just be easier to come right out and ask the experts rather than to continue taxing my brain.

DH, LO1yr and I are traveling to the POP the last week of April. We're traveling with friends (parents and LO5yr and LO1yr) and have already requested connected rooms on the first floor. I'm totally at a loss for what building to request. Since we're traveling with two toddlers, being on the lake isn't the best location for us. We will both have cars, so I anticipate using a mix of Disney transport and driving to the parks. So...my questions are...

1) Are there any king-king connecting rooms? Or king-double?
2) Which building would have the best location for bus/dining/parking lot (and far from the lake) access?
3) When/how do I request that room? Can I make the change online or do I need to call?
4) What else do I need to know? :)

If I understand who is in your party correctly:

1) if you have more than 2 people in a room (not counting one baby under 3) you can't have a King. So if you're friends have at least one child over 3, they have to have a double.
Connecting is not guarenteed, but you can request it, as well as a king.
If you are not booking for your friends, ask if your ressies can be linked(???)

2) Request "Closest to Classic Hall" That should get what you want.

3) Do it over the phone. Always better to talk to a person. :thumbsup2

4) Don't stress over location, Pop is so nicely sized that any location is pretty good. Decide whether connecting or closest to Classic hall is your preference, and put that first. Have a great trip! :wizard:

Oh thank you! Glad you were able to decipher my explination...

I hadn't thought about my friends not being able to do a king room. They co-sleep, so one giant bed seemed like a great idea for them. We do have linked ressies, so that should work nicely. I'll give Disney a call and have a couple of requests added to my reservation.

Your answer was super helpful. It makes me so happy I found this community!

From what I have heard, they make special arrangements when you have minors staying in the connecting room, as they cannot expect small children to sleep alone. I overheard a conversation at the desk at WL one year when a mother needed connecting rooms. Hope this helps.

Stayed at POP in October (loved it). Loving the POP bus system too. We are going again in October.

We are Park Hoppers. We seem to end up at MK every night. We never get the water park passes b/c DH & I aren't exactly water park people. The kids (DS 8 & DD 3) do like the water. We loved the pools at POP, but DS will be 8yrs old & would probably appreciate a water slide.

Do you think it is worth staying at a moderate to get DS the slide w/o having to feel like we need to go to a water park for the whole day, ride the busses wet, .........? If we were at the hotel water slide we could go shower before hopping again.

My 1st question is what does LO stand for? :confused3

But I think most was answered for you already. Your firends, if they have a child over 3 will have to have 2 doubles. Make your request now with your reservation. You can look at the map on page 1 and see what location looks ideal to you. :lovestruc

1) Are there any king-king connecting rooms? Or king-double? sorry I dont know that one:confused3
2) Which building would have the best location for bus/dining/parking lot (and far from the lake) access?
0's building building UI think #1 In the 50's. 3) When/how do I request that room? Can I make the change online or do I need to call? You need to call and add It to your eservation.
4) What else do I need to know? :)[/QUOTE] Just keep reading here, and keep asking question there Is always someone bound to know:goodvibes

My 1st question is what does LO stand for? :confused3

LOL--It's "little one." Particular abbreviation that another board I'm on uses--sorry for the confusion! I forget that they don't always translate from one forum to another.

I've checked out the maps, but I am one of those spatially challenged people who, while I can follow a map, has trouble judging distances on them. :) The information I've been given here has been a huge help

I'm going to put my preferences as: Ground Floor, Close to hall, connected rooms (with our friends, who our reservation is linked with), king bed. We'll see what the room assigner can come up with for us. Since we're dealing with strollers, the ground floor part is most important, but I'll just be happy to be in the world!

Cheers!

I belive that all pefered rooms are on the ground floors faceing the pools, and that they are not the ones that connected, but I may be wrong with that:confused3

They do have preferrred ground floor connecting rooms. In 2008 we were in 60's right across from the baby pool and our room had a connecting door. Not all pool side rooms are preferred either. Mosti n 60's are, and some in 50's are, but I don't think any are in the 80/90's area. But yopu can be pretty close without requesting a preferred ropom too.
Also remember there are elevators. We prefer ground floor ourselves, but if we had to we couls use the elevator for the stroller.

1) Are there any king-king connecting rooms? Or king-double?
I didn't see this specific question answered; there are no King-King connecting rooms.
Here's an awesome link to Will Cad's site showing how rooms are laid out at Pop.

Hello all,
Is there a current stroller swap going on? If so does anyone have the link to it?

Here's the link to all the stroller swaps. There aren't many left since the DIS no longer allows the exchange of $; only free swaps are allowed (such as the Free Pay It Forward swap at Pop that is in my signature ;)).

HTH! :wizard:

DBF really wants to stay in the 80s section of POP when we're there in September (he got excited by the oversized Roger Rabbit :goodvibes) but I keep reading that it's the least desirable location? We don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room, and are more than happy to cut across the parking lot to get to the busses.

Anybody really enjoy the 80s section?

We love the 80's section!!!!! Glad to know many don't, that way we get our request:lmao: We like building #9 the Walkman one. Couldn't be closer to the bus stop if you ask me! My sons love the rubix cubes lit up, and the Pac-man! The computer pool is usually less crowded and the laundry room is right there too.

So glad to hear! The Walkman one excited me too, but I'm a music geek like that! :thumbsup2
I doubt we will spend any time in the pool but I like the idea of proximity to the busses!
