Im begining to think im invisible...thats the third post on this board that has been totally ignored..mabey I need to change my deodorant..:confused3

We are off to Pop first time may 2nd -9th and cant wait...I wanted to ask...why do you think Pop is more popular? What makes people want to go back there over the all stars resorts? We have only ever been to all star movies so Im dying to find out what POP is like. Is there that much of a difference?

I think most people prefer Pop because there is no bus sharing. And Pop is sort of a combination of the three all stars resorts. Also, it looks like Disney took what they thought was bad at All Stars and tried to make it good at Pop.

This is just what it seems like. I have not stayed at Pop yet.

I stayed at Movies several times before staying at POP, and I agreed they took the things that were wrong with All Stars and made them better at POP. The flow of the resort and the fact that it isnt' so spread out is much better. The food court is bigger too. I also love love love the lake!

Have to agree with the reasons. We stayed at AS Sports three times, many years ago, when my boys were very young. Although it was great for them then, I just feel like now I'd never stay there without young kids.

But when we wanted to do a very budget trip here for the free dining, which meant a value resort, the main reason I picked Pop was that it had its own bus route!

::yes:: I have stayed in ASM and POP.:goodvibes Pop wins hands down just for the buses! Also loved the layout and "vibe" of the POP better!

Sorry you were feeling ignored, mouse. Speaking for myself, I chose Pop over any of the All Stars for my first value experience because it's still fairly new. I stayed there once last August during free dining and was extremely pleased with every aspect of my stay.

If you look at my signature, you can see that I've stayed at a variety of Disney resorts. Of those, our stays in POFQ in 2000 and Pop last year were my only two WDW resort stays that I can say were near flawless, meaning that we were pleased with our rooms, the pools, food court, buses, and CMs encountered.

Jeany, when you check into Pop, make sure you let the front desk know you have a car. They will ask for your licence plate and issue you a parking pass for the vehicle. Keep it on your dashboard and you'll be able to park free at all the parks. We think it makes getting into the resorts for visiting and eating easier too. That parking pass lets security throughout WDW know that you and your vehicle are their guests.

What questions did you ask that were ignored?
I try to answer the ones I know.
I see that one post was about the Pop all star differences, but I don't know that.
I do know what makes one place special for some, may not be true for others.

Hi everyone :)
My DBF and I will be staying at POP in August during free dining :woohoo:
We are staying in the standard section and have requested a room with a king bed.
What are our chances of getting a king room? Do a lot of people usually request this at POP? We didn't make any other requests, so hopefully that will help.
Thanks!

I'm actually hoping for this too, haha. I know that king beds make up ~3% of the rooms. But that's all I know.

I had a good experience getting a King room this past December. I didn't make the reservation far in advance; maybe about 2 months out. I requested a king room when I made the reservation. It was my only request...didn't matter to me which building we were in etc. I figured my chances were better at getting my request if I kept it as simple as possible. The resort isn't huge and I don't mind taking my chances on room location. I don't think I'd like poolside in the 60's area, but since we never pay for preferred, it should never be an issue.

I didn't fax my request before we arrived. When we checked in (around 10:30 ish AM), our room was ready and we were able to get a king room! It was handicapped accessible room with a a connecting door in building 1, just a few feet down from the preferred rooms. I thought the location was great, and it was very quiet. We were very pleased! Good luck to both of you in getting a king room!

On our upcoming trip, my only request was connecting rooms, as our DD19 will be joining us for two nights. We booked her in her own room and would love to be able to have the rooms connecting.

POP Is a great choice for few reason,it has the price of course!! but then It gives that Disney feel to It then there Is the bus transportation ,and that speaks for It self.

I have been to both the All Star Movies and All Star Sports. I can't really put my finger on what I like so much better about Pop. It seems like to be the bus transportation is more efficient. I really like all of the over sized decor items on the outside of the buildings. I like the pools alot more too. My kids like Pop alot also. I just really like the theme of the hotel.

I think it really is a matter of personal choice - have read many posts from guests who far prefer an AS Resort to POP.

It is the only value we've tried and after 30 yrs of mostly Poly/CR/BC/BW/GF stays I was pretty concerned the first time we tried POP when it was brand new.

What we like:
1. Food court (loads of options)
2. Lake side rooms
3. 50's theme
4. No bus sharing
5. Terrific CM's and an all around fun resort. :)

What we don't like:
1. Long walk to every POP bus stop from very park, especially EPCOT.
2. Rooms are in need of refurbishment (it is a popular resort so get slots of wear and tear).

Hope you enjoy your stay!! :thumbsup2

My kids will have their MP3 players with them while at Disney. I think I remember reading that there is a MP3 charger thingy in the Pop Room. Anyway, if there is such a thing in the rooms, can somebody post a pic. My daughter said she can tell from a pic if their players can charge from it. (Can you tell I am totally out of the loop on how these things charge or work, etc. etc. etc. My kids laugh at me enough so you guys don't have to.;))

no question here, just can't find the Official POP thread so wanted to share my excitement! My sisters, brother and I are taking our Dad for his first Disney trip ever and staying at POP !! He will love the icons there, specially the 50's 60's sections! Can't wait til he sees it!!:cool1:

I believe the new alarm clocks in the rooms have a plug in for MP3s or Ipods. It will not charge the players, it just plays the music through the alarm clock. It plugs into the spot where the headphones go.

Here's a link to the picture from the 1st page of this thread:

Well phooey! At home, we charge them on our laptop or our home computer. We aren't bringing our laptop with us though.
