Well, maybe not the Griswolds but I can pretty much guarantee that we will have our issues.. Although we live in South Florida we have never been on a cruise..Not a Royal Carribean, a Princess, a Carnival or even the Discovery 1 day cruise to Nassau...The extent of our cruising is a water taxi, a gambling ship or a booze cruise..The last time was a glass bottom boat in the Keys in which I got so seasick that I spent the whole 3 hours horizontal.
What made us decide to book a cruise, you ask?? We have a 4 yr. old dd who is our life. After years of fertility treatments one finally worked and we were blessed with her. We live in Florida and the rest of our family is in NY so it is VERY rare that we both ever leave her. We did go away 1 night together alone is the last 4 yrs. and it was not easy- (on us)..Our 10th wedding anniversary Oct.7th and we really wanted to do something special.. How about a Ritz Carlton on the beach for the weekend alone- champagne, sleeping late, great dinners etc... Sounds great, huh??? Nope, not for us. We're going on the Disney Cruise...and not alone!!!
I am a planner- I research everything knowing darn well that things will never turn out the way I plan. I searched high and low for the best deal with the best perks..We were able to get the category we wanted (4) with free travel insurance and a nice size OBC... We booked it.. I then posted on my FB page how excited I was that we were going. Next thing I knew my BFF who was the matron of honor in my wedding wanted to go (they live in MD) with their 2 boys and another great friend here in FL booked it too..We were thrilled, the more the merrier I always say..
Since the end of July I have become obsessed with every part of this short vacation.. I have magnets,(enough for my friends who would NEVER take the time to do it) pirate costumes, (dh only wants to wear a shirt with the picture of Seinfeld's puffy shirt that says "I don't wanna be a pirate"..). I've even done pilates to get into shape before next month.(you mean I can't get abs like "the situation" by doing it 3 times?-) Gotta love skirted bathing suits, I don't care if I have the same one Betty White does. I have researched and measured a carry-on suitcase to be sure that we will have a nice supply of champagne, beer, wine and bottled water.. I've read forums, watched you tube videos, and have completely procrastinated studying for my fantasy football draft.. (I'm always the lone female in the league and have finished in the money every year so it is usually very important). I have a little more than a month left and that gives me plenty of time to con dh into having some of that back hair waxed (he fuzzy-not furry), make a few more magnets, stock up on ginger, dramimine, and sea bands while making sure that we will have the best anniversary yet...For now....see ya...
