Hi - We cruised this summer 4 nights - me, my DH and mom. We're in our 30's and mom's almost 60. The adults only pool was EXCELLENT. We have been on 5 prior cruises on 3 lines (Royal caribbean, Celebrity and Carnival) and this was the most enjoyable pool we have ever experienced. On other ships there were so many kids in the pool and teenagers camped out in large groups in the hot tub - but not on the Wonder. They enforced the rules and the pool was great, as were the hot tubs.

I agree about the adult pool. That is my favorite spot. We had a few parents ask if they could bring their Children to the adult pool for a little while, they just wanted to walk around the edge of the pool. They were told NO!!! I cruise in 17 days and I will be at the adult pool everyday.:teeth: I do think they should have made the Goofy pool like the adult pool with the ledge around it. I think it would be nice for the Parent's to be able to sit in the shallow water and be able to watch their children swim. The Goofy pool is like a giant hole to me.

I too love the adult pool! Disney is great about enforcing the rules, which put them well above RCCL in my book (on Voyager of the Seas, the kids were running in and out of the whirlpool location in the spa and jumping on the exercise equipment soaking wet!). I have seen many parents asking to bring their kids in because the pool is not crowded, and they are told no. They should realize that their cruise fare is paying for the availability of almost constant child care, while my cruise fare (being childless) is paying for the availability of a kid-free, and often uncrowded, pool.

That is the only pool I really loved! It was never crowded. I don't like my daughter going into the Mickey pool (seems like a big pee pool to me and in the afternoon the water color is just gross!!) and the GOofy pool is way to wild to let her into with all the preteens jumping off the side into the water on top of people so basically we just do beach excursions etc when we have port days to get her fill of the water.

Apparently, on our 10/02 cruise last week, the Mickey pool was emptied NUMEROUS times(almost daily if not more) due to "accidents". For a pool that supposed to be for potty trained, it seemed like a high incidence.

Thats what makes me nuts! Why can't people follow that one simple rule and not inconvenience everyone else on the ship!! Its one thing if your child is toilet trained and just has an accident but the people that bring their kids in the Mickey Pool knowing that they are not toilet trained should be billed for the price of emptying and refilling the pool! You clearly see some at the side of the pool that just take their kids diapers off and send them into the pool....some people are just plain rude!!

The entire Quite Cove area was a wonderful surprise for DH and I on our cruise a month ago :) I absolutely loved this area of the ship, including the pool and Cove Cafe. I think I saw less kids on our Disney Cruise than we saw last year on our Royal Caribbean cruise because of this separate adults-only area. We do have kids, but they are both teens and were doing their own thing on the days that we were at sea. I think I can say that the Quiet Cove adults-only area was the best part of our cruise, maybe a close tie with our verandah :)

Regarding the Goofy Pool: I agree that it looks like a big hole. It looked WAY too claustrophobic to me. For it being a "family" pool, it was way too small. Like the poster said above, it needs that outer, shallow-water area like the Quiet Cove pool has, then it would be nice(r).

Could someone have gotten seasick and thrown up in the pool? Someone did in the Mickey pool on our Magic Eastern in January. Closed it for about 3-4 hours one day.

While we really enjoyed the adult pool, a big down side to us was the music. Of course I understand its supposed to be "quiet", but the classical music was killing us. ;) I ended up leaving and getting a chair on deck 10 where I could lay in the sun and hear the fun music from the family pool. ;)
I do think the adult only pool is a great option though. ::yes::

We were at the adult pool every day on our 4 day disneymoon. It was so nice and quiet that it was almost a shock to walk past the other pools. DH and I were sitting in the hot tub one day and it was raining when a server walked up and offered us drinks. I mean how much better does it get, sitting in a hot tub with the one you love and you have someone else getting you drinks. It was perfect!!! I couldn't have wished for more! genie:

Wow! We've been on many cruises and have only used a pool on board one, on the Grand Princess, during a port stay. Then we used the "swim against the current adult pool" and that was fabulous. However, we would like to be able to swim while cruising, and it looks like we'll be able to, this is great!

I agree that the adult pool area is wonderful and my DH and I enjoyed it immensely. Disney does do a great job enforcing the adult only rules of this area.

What was Disney thinking when they designed the kid and family pool areas? There must have been a better way to maximize the space. I'm sure any new boats that Disney builds in the future will address this problem. The pools frighten me from a sanitary and safety standpoint although I am sure DCL does their best to control this. I do everything I can to keep my kids out of them. Thank goodness they love the clubs and enjoy the beach when we are in port.

I agree! They played MUCH MUCH better music at the Goofy Pool, than they did at the adult pool. I understand the reasoning, too, but the difference was amazing. They should play some "fun" music at the adult pool once in a while :)

We loved the adult pool as well. We spent so much time here. However, I don't think anyone believed we had a teenager with us, becuase we did spend so much time here.

It was great fun to talk to other adults. We are teachers. We met so many people young and old. It was neat to hear about everyone's excursions or experiences.

This is one of the reasons we have rebooked with DCL. I had heard many people talking about the fact that many ships do not enforce the adult areas.

Having survived the raising of three daughters: 20, 17, 14....I totally appreciate the "kid-free" environment of the Quiet Cove Pool. It probably would be nice to have some live calypso music, etc. Pool games can be fun but the waiter service is the best!!

We agree!

I completely agree. My DH and I are childfree and have been on five Disney cruises. We love the Quiet Cove pool. And Disney does enforce the rules. On our most recent cruise, in May, a woman brought her young daughter to the pool and put her in the water. A CM politely told her the pool was for guests 18 and older only. She refused to remove the child and told the CM that she did not have to listen to him because he was "only" a server. That CM got his manager, who also tried to talk to the woman. She again refused to remove her daughter. Eventually, they had to call the ship's food and beverage officer, who arrived and finally walked the woman and her daughter out of the area. By this time, all the CMs and guests in the area were watching the drama unfold, and some of the guests (OK, us too) quietly clapped when the woman left. I would be so humiliated if I had to be escorted out of an area by a ship's officer; I think I would hide in my stateroom for the rest of the cruise!

Classical music is a well-known anti-teenager device. Works better than DEET on bugs! Actually I really like classical music; we'll have to check out the adult pool this trip!
