I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has sent emails, instant messages, or called to ask about The Great Pin Adventure meet Lauri and I are planning for August 11. As you may remember, this meet started with Lauri and I suggesting that we meet at the Boardwalk Pin Cart on Saturday August 11. I thought perhaps there would be four or five people stop by to say hello. Well, what started with 2-3 people soon blossomed into 20-25 people. It was decided that we needed somewhere else to meet. PinTrader talked to some of her friends at the Contemporary and they offered their lobby as a meeting place. I am very grateful to the wonderful people of the Contemporary. They have gone out of their way to try and accommodate us at every turn. They have been polite and cordial and very helpful. It seemed a wonderful place to have the meet and I was looking forward to meeting the great Cast Members who were working so hard on our behalf. In the meantime, more and more people signed up for the pin meet. It seemed that Kathryn and Lauri were constantly talking to the Contemporary informing them of the number of people that would be attending. Before we knew it, our 20-25 people had grown to 100-110 people. Clearly, the Contemporary lobby would be over crowded. The Cast Members worked diligently trying to provide space and accommodations for us but at that time of year, there were not a lot of choices. This led Lauri to begin to inquire about different space. The Swan graciously offered to rent us a room that will allow all of us space to trade and close us off to minimize noise to the other guests. So at this moment, we are working hard to make the necessary arrangements to move The Great Pin Adventure to the Swan. I have very mixed emotions about this. I am very sorry not to be meeting at the Contemporary. They are a first-rate organization and have some of the friendliest Cast Members I have had the pleasure of talking with. I wish it had worked out as they are going out of their way to help pin trading at WDW. If you have the opportunity to stop by the Contemporary during your visit, I encourage you to tell them how much you appreciate all of their efforts in trying to accommodate our adventure. I am somewhat disappointed to hear that disparaging remarks have been made about the Contemporary and their willingness to host this meet. This is in no way merited. It simply became a case where we became larger than what could be comfortable there. The decision to move was ultimately made by Lauri and myself. I do hope you will all join us at the Swan on August 11th at 8:00 PM as The Great Pin Adventure unfolds. It promises to be a lot of fun.
