Mr. Gannon, I call it Disney Studios :)

The Great Movie Ride is one of those attractions that we visit periodically. I'd say once every 3-4 trips to The Studios.

---edit

I'll clarify that we really enjoy GMR. Every 3-4 trips means every 3-4 months for us. If we travelled to WDW less frequently, it would be on our "must-see" each trip list.

I absolutely love the Great Movie Ride. Maybe that's because I love movies so much - I even like the pre-show with all the movies. I hate it when the lines is too short and I'm rushed through that area and the display cases. I guess I just like the whole ride package from entrance to exit.

If you have the vacation planning video, you should be very happy because they make no mention of MGM at all (due to the marketing agreement, I think). In fact, when they show the sign, they actually "remove" the MGM from the picture. Pretty funny...

We really like The Movie Ride, and have it down as an "every trip" attraction. (It could use some updating, however.)

We enjoy the GMR. Once we got stuck at Casablanca ans listened to that 'good-bye' and the sputtering propeller at least 12 times. We were cracking up with laughter after 5.

GMR is great. What it needs is an update. They should never close down this ride.
I really enjoy it because I can remember when all these movies were popular.

We LOVE The Great Movie Ride!

The first time we took our kids to WDW, DS was 6 1/2. We were seated in the front row of the car, with DS sitting next to the driver. When we were *hi-jacked* in the Wild West scene, DS took a serious swing at the girl who was our *hi-jacker*. Almost got her too! (He had NO idea it was for show......the poor little fellow was SCARED! :p ) She was a great actress though - barely missed a beat. She kept leaning closer to him and growling at him to make him back off a bit! I kept telling him "It's SUPPOSED to be like this - it's part of the SHOW!)

Now we always go back and laugh at poor DS....he has never had the front seat since......I wonder why

LOVE it! We have been known to hop back in line, after exiting the ride, for a second go.

I know to some it may seem kinda cheesy, but this is one of those rides that the Disney Magic pulls me in and I go on every trip. As a matter of fact, I will be riding it in about 16 days.

Have a great day.

(FWIW, Deb's Disney Digest lists the GMR as closed for refurbishment from 2/24 - 4/13).

Bummer for MY prospective 3/4 trip - love this ride, especially the anthology of great movie clips at the end!

Denise < -- enough of a movie freak that I enjoy tryin' to ID them all ;)

That would be bad if it is closed. I was looking forward to it.:(

Love the GMR - usually go on several times on each visit.

I wouldn't miss the Great Movie Ride. My favorite is the Western show. I hope they never close it. I also love the Wizard of Oz scene. The witch is so realistic. You know you're in MGM when you're on the Great Movie Ride.

I would like to see this ride reconfigured somehow to offer a "kid-friendly" version in addition to the regular version. We took my 3-year old on it so she could see the Wizard of Oz scene since it is one of her favorite movies. She enjoyed that, but was terrified during the Alien scene, the western scene, and "hi-jacking."

It would be nice if they could offer separate cars that somehow bypassed all of that, and maybe even went through 1 or 2 other "kid-friendly" movies.

Anyway, overall I like this attaction and try to see it when I am there, but would not be disappointed if I missed seeing it.

I ride it once or twice each trip. It was the ride I was most looking forward to on my first trip to WDW. I had always though a ride about the movies would be cool. After my first ride though I was disappointed and still not sure why. I love Disney's longer dark rides and this one had some really good sets and lighting and music and the Munchikin scene at the end is awesome but the whole doesn't quite jell. Maybe because it is not one long story.

I really like the GMR and while we do not ride everytime we go to WDW, we have been on it numerous times. It was not until the fourth or fifth time we took the alternative route for gun fighter instead of the gangster in the hijacking of the ride.

I love this ride.

I always go on it every year. It's a tradition for me. My absolute favorite part is the movie montage at the end.

They update the montage every so often...maybe that's what's going on during the rehab. I'd imagine them putting in clips of stuff like "Lilo & Stitch" and...um...er...what else has gone well for Disney at the box office within the past year?;)

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Here's a tip. Keep your eyes peeled during the montage and you'll see a split-second clip of a Universal Pictures release...namely, "Jurassic Park".

I have to go with "None of the Above". I really, truly love the Great Movie Ride, but we don't always do it. It depends on how much time we have in MGM on that given day, and how long the line is. It can be deceiving, because you can't see the queue from the outside. This much I will say.... if the line is out the door, we try again at another time... and we avoid it when it is raining!~!!

This is one of the attractions I enjoy most...I'm not quite sure why. I just really enjoy it :)

Well I may be the lone dissenter here, but I've always thought this ride was kind of cheesy and boring in parts. But, on the plus side, it is a good way to relive some of the big cinema moments of the past. And, some of the stuff on display is worth waiting in the line for just to see, some of it is priceless.
