I know it, you know it, every teen knows it. Every teen at some point or another has gone through a phase where they either :
1. hate their family/family members guts.
2. were embarassed by a family member just breathing.
3. wish they had no family and lived with a pack of wolves.

We all know what it's like, and it's a normal part of teenage lives.
So, discuss some of the good things in your family. Things you appreciate about the members, things that set them apart from others, anything.

My mom. I know this sounds like I'm an alien, but I honestly think my cancer diagnosis was the best thing for our relationship. I think I'm closer to my mom now, then ever before. Except for my time in the womb. ;) Sure, there are days where we scream and yell at each other like petty brats, but in the end we get over it.

My cousins. These are from my dads family, from his younger sister. My cousin Bridget, well, she doesn't have a way with words. Her exact words at hearing of my cancer? "Hey Sonya. Sorry to hear about your problem!". I read that and thought, "That's Bridget for ya!". My little cousin Nolleen. Ah, the cutie patootie! She's my sisters age, but she's always been the little one. She always comes for hugs and is never afraid to say I love you. My cousin Amber was always my "twin" when we were younger. We looked exactly alike, the only difference was eye colour and age. She's a year older and has blue eyes, I had brown. My last cousin Clara has always been the shy, blushing type, but always looked up at you with every word you said. Somehow like you were her idol.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about my other aunt and uncle, as we rarely see them. My dad has a rift with his brother, but he was always the "go-to guy" when I was younger and we lived in Jersey. I used to practically live at his house, his dogs were my horsies! Of course, at age 2, any labrador looked like a horse compared to me. :rotfl:

My moms family? There's always been that awkward language barrier, but there was always a bond. They'll love you no matter what. I can play and communicate perfectly with my cousins, even without the little Catalan I know/ medium English they know. Plus, we're the envy of all the cousins. We live in America, and they're dying to get over here. ;) :rotfl:

My mom and my grandma are my best friends. They know the story of my life better than I do. We're all insanely close.

Things can get a little awkward with my dad, but I love spending time with him nonetheless.

My two cousins are like the sisters I never had. We now live over a thousand miles apart, but when we're together, I'm like their middle sister. My older cousin and I used to hate eachother growing up, but now it's amazing to see how much we really trust each other. My younger cousin reminds me of why I like being the way I am.

Oh lordy.

My mom is SO embarrassing. When you introduce yourself, aren't you supposed to say, "Hi im, (name here)."

Yes. But no, my mom has to give a story on her life.
"Hi. My name is (name here), Im from (Place here) and moved to (place here) four years ago. My husands grandma died eight years agom and my children are 15 and 12. "

And it goes on.
and on.
and on.

And my mom isnt the kind of person to say Hi to my friends if we pick them up after school.

Hi.

No.

Its, HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.

The pitch is like woooooooooooowhoooooooooooooowhooooooooooo.

Im like, DUDE?

And she doesn't even know that she talks to loud! She's pretty much deaf.
And she cant whisper.

Nice thread idea :)

The pure closeness of my mothers side of the family is amazing, theres about 20 of us and noone is rifting and everyone is really supportive of each other. I really appreciate this as my step-dad doesn't talk to anyone in his family and my dads family basically consists of me, my brother, him, his fiance, and my nan. So we don't really get the whole fun craziness that we get with my mums side.
