The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

We are marching in the local parade tomorrow with my son's school's All-Star Kazoo Band. I'm pretty psyched about it. By the middle of the parade I am pretty much laughing my butt off- it's a great time.
Kellie- glad to hear you got some good news! :yay:

Some photos of Great Wolf Lodge as promised.

Here is the wolf den in the room. The kids loved it!

We didn't get a lot of pictures of the water park since my camera isn't waterproof but I did run in on our way to breakfast and took a few.

Also, the lobby is beautiful. They have giant clock/tree that has characters that come out and do a show with singing and a story. It was pretty cool. We took the kids down in their pj's before bed to watch it.

All in all I would highly recommend the GWL. It was expensive for us, but cheap compared to a day at Disney.:lmao:

Marna- great pics! I can only imagine being a child and walking into a place like that! It would be heaven!!!:yay:

Happy Tuesday everyone. How was your long weekend?

Friday, I did end up digging up every morsel of my mint (crossing my fingers I do not see any shoots popping up in the near future!)

Sat- Yard Sailing, then came home and stained my front porch "bran red" to match our shutters. Looks great!

Sun- Planted lots of sunny perennials in front of said porch. Mallow, Lupine, Shasta Daises, Delphinium, dianthus (YUM! My favorite! You can smell those babies a mile away!) I always wanted a Peony, so I finally bought one and planted that and it is already blooming. And my roses that I planted last year are blooming left and right!:thumbsup2

We have a shady bed too- I added some bleeding hearts and Jacob's Ladder and a few begonias as fillers there.

Everything I planted this year got lots of our homemade compost- I am hoping to see healthy plants for years to come.

Yesterday I just planted some impatients around the front tree for some color.

So today- I AM BEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:upsidedow

Marna- Your pictures look great. I bet that place is a lot of fun! I always hear about it and wondered what it would be like. Was there anything there for you to do while the kids had fun?

Madd- Id love to see pictures of your flowers. Im a plant person. Yesterday I trimmed one of our birches and it looks really good. I think ive successfully trimmed back all of the bushes until closer to the fall. Seems like with all this rain everything has really grown this year though!

Welp folks just in case you have been following my progress-- im 24wks now and here are tummy photos (also past photos for comparison). Im starting to feel pregnant now.. and its hard to bend and move sometimes. That baby is taking up a lot of room in there. I didnt take photos of week 22 and 23-- I got lazy. LOL

Happy Tuesday everyone. How was your long weekend?

wow...sounds like a lot of garden work going on...wish I was able to have a big garden!
well our weekend was semi-busy! We had a concert on Saturday night in Dallas. We saw Letters to Cleo(if anyone remembers the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they were the band she goes to see in the club and that are playing on the roof at the very end of the movie) The were one of my favorites in the mid-late 90s...It was a great little show...sadly only about 100 people there, but they were really good!

Sunday, my parents came into town for the day and we just spent some time together.

Yesterday, went book shopping and "celebrated" Towel Day 2009. If anyone out here is a Douglas Adams fan(he wrote the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series) Towel Day was a day created to celebrate his life and his great works...if you've ever read the series you know about the towels...here'a link to info on the day: http://www.towelday.org/
the day consists of making sure you take your towel and be proud about it and to spread the word on the series...DH and I even took our towels to Six Flags!!

I read Doug Adams years ago, but have missed out on knowing about towel day somehow.:rotfl2:

Maggie-cute tummy. Did you ever settle on a name yet?

Madd-were those "Scarlet Begonias" you planted? Sorry, I'm listening to the Dead and couldn't resist. That's one of my favorite songs. I did a lot of gardening over the weekend as well but mine was all for eating.:hippie: I do have a bunch of purple coneflowers and lamb's ear dug up that I need to put somewhere else soon.

We have a dilemma here Freaps if anyone has any advice to offer. Do ya'll remember the Kennedy Space Center hubbub on the Budget board last year? Well we asked our congressman for tickets and never really heard anything back but when I got the mail on Saturday there was an invitation to the shuttle launch on June 13th!!:scared1: So do we want to drive 850 miles each way to see it or not. There are no hotels available but I have a cousin and her DH that live with my Aunt in Oviedo that we could stay with. We would drive on Thursday, maybe hit a beach on Friday and have to be at KSC around 3:30 am:eek: on Saturday morning. I think we can also get into the visitor complex afterward and see all the cool stuff. We might do KSC again on Sunday or go back to a beach and then drive home Monday. Would you all do it or not?:confused3 I have to RSVP by Friday.

I would do it. This would be a great experience for your kids. My DH is drooling right now. He has been trying to get me to go for years now. I told him maybe next year after we go to WDW before we head home.

mmmmmm- I would say no to the shuttle. But it is not that important to me. But- you sound very excited- so I would say yes for you:laughing:

BTW- a friend of mine named her dog Scarlet after the Dead song!

Thanks girls. I still feel flabby and whatnot, but I guess its because I compare my tummy to the really round tummies that start up high. Oh well. God built us all differently, and I just carry low I guess.

Marna - I would be all for the shuttle launch if you could afford to go (both money and the time). Thats a great experience, one that I would love to partake in one day!

Okay Freaps I have a question too-- Does anyone think that the Freebie Thread has gone down hill... like down hill fast on a steep sloap kind of downhill? I haven't signed up for a freebie (unless its Walmart or Baby) in MONTHS. It also seems to be losing interest or something. IDK- maybe its just me?

Maggie- It's not just you. Little by little the freaps kept dropping. Maybe b/c of some drama, who knows.

OK- now I am putting on the flame suit! And this is just MY opinion- I am sure others may see if differently.

I am going to be perfectly honest. The place is boring anymore! I remember back in the day it was a fun thread where people can get freebies and chit chat in the meantime. It was a really good time!! We would have 10,000s of views.

As time went on, we would get a complaint here and there about the conversations. That lead to the freap chat. It was a bit difficult to stop in mid chat on the freebie thread and run over here. The conversation would just lose steam (and maybe some people were happy when that happened)

Fast forward. In spite of the complaints, we still continued to have fun and chit chat but you then had people come out of lurking, or a newbie, who would complain about too much chit chatting, hijacking, OT etc etc.

IMO- Too much complaining about the fun lead to it's demise. Obviously, it's no fun anymore, so who wants to go there. It's robotic.

But hey:idea:- at least there is no more chit chatting, hijacking and being OT.:thumbsup2

:flower3:

Haven't been there in WEEKS, but I have to say it's more 'cause I've been crazy busy than anything else. I still manage to lurk here though, go figure! ;)

Oh sure- I like to post here too. And when I am busy I still lurk:3dglasses- I luv yooooooos guys!:grouphug:

Maggie you belly looks so cute.

Hi freaps,
I have just been lurking. But I do agree with the Freebie thread has changed

Not much going on around here. Today I am getting my hair cut and colored.
My hair has had a mind of it's own. The meds they have me on have done some funky things to my hair.
They told me when I first signed on for the trail of this med they said it my hair would change most likely.
I should not complain as I did not lose my hair but dear lord the things it has done:confused:

Hey, I've always had funky hair.:laughing:And I don't have anything to blame it on.:lmao: I am debating having a major hairstyle change(as if I could call what I have now a "style") I have long, wild, curly, frizzy hair and it's been this way since college. I am debating doing a much shorter do sometime soon but I'm scared about upkeep. Every time I get a haircut they say "Now you need to come back in 6 weeks." Two years later, I have to go find someone else.:rotfl2:

We have pretty much decided to skip the launch. We need to conserve funds for our free dining trip and we found out we don't even get free admission to the KSC with the tickets. It's pretty much just transportation to the viewing site where we would be sitting around for hours with thousands of other people. My luck the darned thing would be cancelled anyway.:confused3 Neither of us are very bummed about it which leads me to believe we made the right choice.

Ok you will all be so proud of me. I just booked roundtrip tickets to NYC for $117 for all three of us. We will only have two full days to explore the city. Any pointers... The cheaper the better. When we get back home we are moving the next day to Bloomington. Jetamerica.com is offering some $9.00 flights. Soo cool. That is my bargain of the day. I hope everyone else is having a great day.

By NY do you mean NYC? If so, I have to say I just loved Central Park. There was so much to see there with all the trails and statues. There are so many places where movies have been shot that I could have wandered there all day.
