The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Maggimus- Had to let you know that I finished The Glass Castle this week. Whew! It is one of those books that makes you take a look around and be sooo grateful for everything. Also, made me feel like an award winning parent- my sons did not get to me at all with their complaints of my shortcomings :rotfl: . If they only knew what other mothering there is out there.

YAY! Im so glad you read it! It was a good book. I think I read it at a good time too! let me know if you get started on something else? I need something good to pick up (non-fiction).

What I am reading now is probably considered historical fiction. It is 'The Given Day' by Denis Lehane (writer of Mystic River). It is about Boston in 1917-1919, about the start of the unions, the police department, etc. It has alot of historical figures as minor characters (Babe Ruth, Jack Reed, John Hoover) and mentions all the big Boston players (Curley, Honey Fitz, etc). I'm sure my mom would be embarrassed by my lack of Boston knowledge and history, but the book is really addictive! Reminds me of the Colleen McCullogh Grass Crown series about the history of Rome.

I know what you mean. I AM Mother of the Year compared to her. Although I have been known to hide in the pantry to eat my chocolate on occasion:rolleyes1 , but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it if they were starving. What kind of mother would do such a thing?:confused3
I enjoy Dennis LeHane's books. I may have to give that one a chance.

Susan-I am insanely jealous. I know it's ugly of me, but I just can't help it. Wahhhhhh.......:sad2:

I used to work for another company for a short time.

It was known around the office that this one young guy would just fall asleep, whenever, in his cubicle. He was in financing and the big bosses would always go to him for info, he could have gotten caught b/c he did not make it a secret that he was snoozing.

Sometimes, I would pop my head up from my cubicle (he was right across the aisle from me) and I would see him sleeping! Of course, I had to tell everyone in my dept- and then I would peg him with a piece of paper :lmao: He would be sound asleep and get scared when the paper hit him- I would say "Dude! Wake up- you're gonna get snagged!":lmao: :rotfl2:

I did it for his own good!:snooty: :flower3: he was so sweet and very shy. I had to look out for him;)
Now does someone need to be sleeping for me to throw things at them? :rotfl2:
I bet when I go back to work next week I will want to throw things at someone before the day is over.:lmao: :lmao:

I have been wondering where Debbi (Hadleysun) has been too! :confused3 It has been a very long time since she has been around.

I was wondering the same thing.

MT that is a lot of snow. It is more than I want to see in a couple of years.

Marna glad to see you are doing better. Boys like to be pains. My brother has 3 kids. The oldest is a boy and he is a good kid, the middle one is a girl and DH calls her the informer. Now the younger one is a 6 year old boy that makes us all tired. He is so busy and always into something.

Maggi-I hope everything works out for you. It is still early so don't feel like you have to share it with everyone just yet. You and your DH need some time(good thing you have this cruise coming up:banana: ) to let it all soak in and enjoy the idea.

That is awesome Maggie I am sending pixie dust your way. I am leaving in the am for WDW and we will get there Wednesday. I will catch up with all my freaps sometime next week.:goodvibes
